2022 TOYOTA RAV4 Complaints

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated that after heavy rainfall, there was a swishing sound coming from the passenger’s side rear door. The contact stated that when the vehicle was parked, the contact inspected the vehicle, and became aware of water build-up in the passenger’s side rear door. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,512.

The 12v battery keeps dying. The dealer has checked it multiple times and finally replaced it with a new one which has now died twice. The weather has not been freezing, car is garage, i don't leave anything on that would drain battery and I drive it several times a week. I have over 23,000 miles. It dies at worst time when I really need to go somewhere.

Every time it rains our Rav 4 gets water in the back doors. It sloshes around and you have to manually pull the seal back to drain. It happens every time. my understanding is this is a known issue.

The idling on this car has had a slight knocking sound but it goes off when engine is warm and i have never got a check engine light. i noticed recently when driving the car had a slight jerk but still no check engine light. until traveling on day it came on and i scanned the codes and replaced all applicable parts - the electrical system is pointing to a bypass hose which was changed as well as a camshaft sensor which still didi not solve the issue. i check online it found many others had this problem. My camshaft was ticking when the car was under warranty around 40k miles but now the car is not. Code p136001 'A' Camshaft Actuator bank 1:General Electrical Failure Code p136415 'C' Camshaft Actuator bank 1: Circuit short to battery or open P268111 Engine coolant bypass valve: circuit short to Ground

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota RAV4. The contact stated that a sudden complete stop on a major roadway was necessary due to a turtle crossing, and the vehicle in front was at a complete stop and exited the vehicle in their attempt to remove the turtle from the road. A third vehicle coming from the rear failed to slow down and was driving at 55 MPH, crashed into the rear of the contact. As a result, the contact rear-ended the vehicle in front, which was unoccupied due to the attempt of a turtle removal from the roadway. The contact mentioned that the seat belt did not retract during the impact. No air bags deployed.  The vehicle was towed to Copart Collision Center pending the insurance company's inspection of the vehicle. The contact stated that she sustained a head injury that required medical attention. A police report was filed, but the police report number was unknown. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,098.

Engine shuts off on its own with the car continuing to run. No battery issue. Notice of “engine died steering power low” on the dash. Only happens in heavy rain.

Car starts and then turns itself off immediately. It shows the message “Engine Stopped Steering Power Low”. It is raining where I live and I’ve read online that this is an issue that is happening to these vehicles when it rains.

As I was driving my car jolted and I saw a message that read engine off steering power low go to safety but my car turned off shortly right after. I was lucky it wasnt A busy hour otherwise I could have been in an accident. I was driving and the car turned off on me! Took it to Toyota no codes showing up and battery is 100%. This is so scary and im too scared to drive my car. Went online saw so many people reporting the same issues on RAV4 and no solutions.

When wet, during rain or after a car wash. The engine will rev, the car will shake, and then shut off. I believe it’s the alternator.

Tailgate will not close when button on the back or by the driver's seat is pressed. After pressing the close button at tailgate or driver's seat with tailgate open, it will lower an inch then beep several times and lift open again. Toyota dealer claims this is a known issue and the solution is to "reset" the tailgate, which they would do for me. Resetting immediately failed, and the issue persisted. Toyota service department said, "there is a button on the hatch that will reset it. you will hold that button until it does a sequence of beeps (beeeeeeeeepp, beep beep beep) then let go an press it again like you would want to close it and you should be good to go! :)" (sic). This solution worked once and immediately failed the second time I attempted to close the tailgate. This is a daily issue that was replicated at the dealer but not fixed.
