Excessive Oil consumption. Volvo knowingly allows for the sale and resale of their 2013-2016 vehicles all makes and models even though they know there is an engine issue causing excessive oil consumption due to bad pistons and o rings in the engine. They’ve tried to hide this for years and since has covered a limited number of vehicles to be repaired based on stringent requirements eliminating most of the vehicles that actually should be covered. This oil consumption issue is dangerously causing vehicle to over consumption oil possibly causing the engine to seize or costly repairs up to but not limited to $13,000. This issue has cost me excessive oil changes and oil purchases in just a matter of months since its purchase date. A warranty was issued for this issue but Grubbs Volvo of Grapevine Texas has stated that due to the requirements my vehicle does not qualify to be covered because of the time limitations Volvo put on the repairs. This is a manufacturing issue with defective engine parts which should have been a recall not a warranty allowance. Volvo is deceiving consumers. Not only is this an issue for repairs, this could potentially cause accidents should and engine seize while operating on a roadway and who knows how many lives are at stake. The years 2013-2016 should be cover 100% by recall no matter what if vehicle falls in the all models 2013-2016 manufacturer dates. This has caused me excessive oil change purchases of $189.00 and 1 liter of oil weekly after just driving 1500 miles in 3 weeks. This is a huge problem and is well documented and should be recalled and corrected.

This vehicle is the C70 convertible. When driving and hitting a speed bump or a pothole, both the driver and passenger doors pop open from a fully closed state to a partially open state. The doors do NOT fully disengage but in the partially closed state the doors rattle and shake. When this happens, the "door open" warning light appears on the dashboard, and you need to fully open the door and then re-close it. On a standard trip of 25 miles, this occurs no less than 6 times. So this is an ongoing everyday situation. It is a bit disconcerting to be in the car and hear that first door pop and feel the door shake and rattle.

Engine began to misfire. According to Volvo, there is a problem with the valve ring(s) not sealing, oil coming into the #4 piston chamber and excessive oil consumption. Vehicle has under 95K miles, and has been properly maintained, but Volvo is saying we are outside warranty period.

On June 22, 2024 at 5.25pm I went to my driveway to open my car door to leave for dinner. When I opened the door black smoke came gushing out on my face. The whole car was filled with black soot and the passenger seat was burning and my Nikon DSLR camera was melted and battery compartment opened and maybe leaking. Temperature inside the car was 104 and outside was 87 when I opened the car. The car passenger seat was melted including the foam and wires. I had my dogs rubber ball, my hair band on the seat as well as my pink water bottle on the seat and some odour genie tub and plastic cleaning supplies none of which were burnt but just covered with smoke. My concern is that the seat material and the carpet on the floor was all burnt and charred with smoke damage however, all the plastic water bottles, my hair and and my dogs ball did not get burnt down with the electrical Fire. This is very dangerous to have just in case there is accusation and the fire catches the seats on fire so rapidly just by a camera battery leak or PVC Melt down. My primary concern is the vegan man-made material used in the entire vehicle from ceiling to floor is susceptible to catch on fire just with 100 degrees temperature from some acid leak or from the cigarette lighter charger which one of them burnt down whilst the other is in tact

I (and I think many other people) have had accidents in which a Volvo C40 while in One Pedal Driving mode (OPD) lurched forward after having come to a stop from braking. I have had two such accidents. The first time, which occurred on or about 11/10/23 occcurred when I pulled into a neighbor's driveway and stopped behind her car. I was intending to turn around. The Volvo C40, after I had brought it to a stop with the brake, suddenly lurched forward causing major damage to the C40 and my neighbor's car. Her car was pushed into her garage door causing damage to the front, as well as the back, and to her garage door. Fortunately, there were no injuries to a person. This was reported to State Farm Insurance at the time and they paid the damages and for the repair of my car, except for the $1000 deductible. Claim # is 75-58Z4-06F The second accident occurred on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. I was again in One Pedal Drive in the C40. I pulled up behind a parked car and stopped using the brake. As in November of 2023, the C40 suddenly lurched forward hitting the parked car and causing damage to its rear end. There was a driver sitting in the parked car and he might have suffered mild whiplash. This was reported to State Farm, Claim # 75-69X3-29K. I know that this has occurred to other drivers of the C40 car. See for example XC40 Forum under "Unintended Accelaration after Braking" and "Unintended Accelaration Crash"

My car is a hard top convertible. When I drive with the top down for a prolonged period of time my driver side door unlocks and a warning light that the door is open comes up on the dashboard. The door doesn't swing open but has loosened and you can feel it rattle. This only happens with the top down, never when the top is up. I have to generally slow down/pull over and then open and slam my door shut. It can be very scary when driving at high speeds. It seems to be happening more and more frequently these days.

The contact owns a 2000 Volvo C70. The contact stated that while the vehicle was started and reaching for the seat belt, the driver's side air bag was deployed inadvertently. There was smoke present in the vehicle after the air bags deployed and the contact safely exited the vehicle. The contact confirmed that there was no crash involved to have caused the air bag to deploy. The driver sustained a minor left arm injury that required medical attention via the hospital. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 271,000.

The car came to a complete stop without a reason. This happened while exiting the freeway and no cars or objects were in front of me. I was very lucky that I did not have a car behind me or this would have caused a collision. After the car stopped the message "auto braking by City Safety" appeared on my dashboard

The vehicle came to a stop in two different occasions (6 months apart) without a reason. The first occasion was while exiting the freeway, there was no car or object in front of me. The second time I had gone over a manhole and the car screeched to a halt on a city street. I was very fortunate that in both occasions I did not have a car behind me or this malfunction would have caused a collision. After the car stopped I was able to continue driving. After the car stopped the message "Auto braking by City Safety" appeared on the dashboard.
