2024 VOLVO S60- Lubbock, TX
Automatic Intervention Collision Avoidance system activated unnecessarily and unexpectedly during a freeway exit. There were no cars ahead within a reasonable distance, but there was a car in the adjacent lane of a “dual” parallel exit lane on the freeway. There was a solid white line between vehicles and the system seemed to interpret both vehicles exiting the freeway simultaneously as a “near collision” when in fact we were both operating correctly. I did not notice any intrusion or movement of the adjacent vehicle into our lane. The response from the vehicle was a sudden and violent movement of the steering wheel to the left and I believe application of the brakes although I am not certain of that. This event occurred in the southbound lanes of [XXX] near [XXX]. The exit, I believe, is for [XXX] [XXX] . This was a rental vehicle. Volvo dealer confirmed Excessive oil burn due to bad piston rings. Volvo USA recalled other cars with the same problem but refused to recall mine. They offered instead partial payment for the fix. Should be full payment to repair.

2021 VOLVO XC40- LOS ANGELES, CA
In approximately May of 2023, my vehicle experienced "propulsion system failure" per a dash board light, and would not drive. I had it towed to Volvo and they told me that it was a known defect that required a software upgrade. They upgraded the software. In May of 2024, the car had a second propulsion system failure. The Volvo dealer found the error code and light on the dash, followed diagnostic procedures and saw that the software is up to date. They opened a case with Volvo and Volvo informed them that they are aware that propulsion system failures are occurring even with the updated software installed. They are planning an upgrade but have not yet completed it or made it available. Thus, Volvo knows that the propulsion system can fail, including when the car is in driving, and has not advised consumers or corrected the problem.

2019 VOLVO XC60- Harlingen, TX
The parking collision sensors occasionally stop working during the parking process going from active to fully inactive at the same time. While driving through the city the coward collision has ghost activations where the car believes an object is right in front when there is nothing there. The emergency braking activated once with nothing in front on the highway at speeds over 55 mph and applied full breaking force. Since then the sensors have been turned off

2010 VOLVO XC60- San Francisco, CA
After it rains, i've noticed water collecting in both the passenger and driver side footbeds. It started off nominally and I was easily able to use a cloth. I thought it might have been human error, that I left the window cracked open a bit. The most recent incident (this past weekend 5/4/24) there was a significant puddle on the driver's side. After further research, I discovered the culprit is likely an unbonded windshield, and that this is a KNOWN issue for Volvos, but especially for (2010) xc60s. Having an unbonded windshield seems like a significant hazard risk as the structural integrity of the entire windshield is compromised, as well as risk of electrical components getting wet as the water leaks through the car (and the ripple effects of that).

2022 VOLVO S60- Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
Main center display becomes blank at random times. Sometimes this is accompanied by a loud squealing sound from car audio. When display blanks, all HVAC functions stop including defog, also all audio including turn signal indication sound. Sometimes display and functions self recover after approximately 15-20 seconds, sometimes it does not self recover and in these cases the ignition needs to be turned off and the drivers door opened to "turn off" the vehicle systems so that they can restart. The condition is completely random. The condition has been noted by other 2022+ Volvo owners in various forums. The software in my car has been updated following a complaint for this concern, however it has occurred again since the update. Date provided in report details is most recent event.
