2025 Winnebago Ekko with 3600 miles. Hankook Dynapro AT2 Extreme 215/85 R16 on driver's front shredded for no apparent reason. Fortunately no accident.

the fuse behind the Zamp solar controller on our 25 Ekko 23B melted and caused a fire inside the cabinet above the fridge. This resulted in significant damage to the solar controller, wires and the cabinet itself. Not to mention the strong and persistent smoke smell inside the vehicle.

This is a 2022 Winnebago Travato 59G on the 2021 Ram Promaster. We have already done the two recalls on the Carefree Awning at Meridian ID Camping World, most recent in May 2024. #22V-696, 23V-627. The van has been driven in town a few times since the most recent recall fix with no incident. Now the awning noisily deployed when the ignition was turned ON. I turned the engine off, awning stopped about 75% out. We were luckily NOT parked next to anything that could have been damaged and were not away from home. Awning cannot be extended or retracted and the van cannot be driven. It is in our driveway. Dealer contacted, but cannot come out to look at it before 08/16/24. No other symptoms occurred beforehand. I will also be contacting Winnebago on 08/13.

I would like to file a complaint against Camping World RV at 15855 Smokey Point Blvd, Marysville, WA. 98271. We purchased our Winnebago 2023 View 24J on [XXX] and they failed to disclosed the recall of the awning on our Winnebago. My wife on 8/2/2024 contacted a Winnebago Customer Care Representative. A recall was posted and sent out to dealerships on the awning in early to mid-April 2024. While traveling the Winnebago awning and stairs both were sticking (not functioning correctly). They said items noted would be fixed before delivery date. We had to wait a week before we picked up our Winnebago. They showed us the awning and stairs worked. No one told us about the recall on the awning. Two weeks late we left town on a month long vacation. While traveling we stop for fuel the stairs kept sticking. Arrived at our first destination deployed the awning and it did not deploy, and the steps stop working. Plus I fell out of the door injuring myself. (I have photos of injury). They should have never sold us the unit in the first place knowing it’s on a recall list. If we would have known of the recall we would never have purchased this unit. My wife and I would like to exchange or move up to a better unit. When you buy new nothing should be wrong with it. We’ve gone almost two months without the motorhome. They prefer we take it home and wait, but no telling how long the wait would be. Camping World wants to be let off the hook for all the inconvenience and selling a motorhome with a recall. The Winnebago 2023 View 24J motorhome sits at the dealership Camping World. In summary if we had known about the recall we would have selected something different or upgraded to a bigger model we were considering. We’ve been truly inconvenienced and our summer plans have been ruined. I would appreciate being contacted in the near future to discuss a possible resolution to this experience. The RV's second alternator, a Balmer product, began whinning loudly and a burning/hot smell was coming from the vehicle. Based on knowledge of similar issues happening to many other EKKO owners of same type of unit, we knew the alternator was failing and could start a fire. We therefore unplugged a connector to the regulator which ceased load to the secondary alternator. This is the THIRD time we have had a secondary alternator/regulator issue. There was a recall regarding this matter by Winnebago, #174, which WE DID have completed in Sept 2023, at Winnebago Factory Service. Sadly, the system has failed again. Fortunately, we knew to unplug the connector and avoid the possibility of a fire.

Balmar alternator or regulator fails to work as designed. No charging of batteries when idling or driving. This is a Safety Issue because fires have been reported as a result of these electrical system failures. Lithionics (battery) app confirms no charge reaching the batteries, see attached screenshots. Potential Risk of Fire when not working properly as evidenced by others with Balmar failures as reported to NHTSA. This is the 3rd failure we have encountered: 1st failure confirmed by Winnebago, and was replaced with like parts. 2nd failure occurred just prior to the 2023 recall, and was addressed by Winnebago Factory Service during recall by replacing parts again. 3rd failure occurred today. The current failure happened when the unit (2022 Winnebago EKKO) was parked in our driveway, not while travelling. Upon starting the vehicle, the alternator emitted a loud whining sound and subsequently provided no charging to the batteries. We are aware of the symptoms based upon our previous failures, and know of others who also had a Balmar failure after having the prior recall completed. We desire a lasting permanent solution for this problem as it has not been adequately addressed by the previous Winnebago recall.

The 30amp electrical fuse connecting the solar panels to the Zamp 40amp controller melted. Lichtsinn Motors, the dealer, was notified and sent pictures of melted fuse. CoachNet technical support was also called, spoke with technician and pictures of melted fuse sent. Detailed message left with Winnebago. Customer service agent said Sept 13th was the notification date for the recall however they have no solution yet.

The prior recall #174 was completed at the Winnebago Factory Service Center in September of 2023. The replacement alternator failed and has now been replaced as a warranty item but the Factory Service Center. This is the 3rd Balmar alternator for this unit. The first replacement was approximately in October of 2022, then the recall was performed in September of 2023 which included replacement of the Balmar alternator, now that has malfunctioned once again necessitating replacement. All seem fail in one year increments.

When parked with engine still running, we inadvertently turned on A/C to high. Within a minute we smelled an electrical fire and disconnected the battery. We had it towed to Mercedes Benz. They disassembled the floor board on the drivers side and found all the wiring melted. Mercedes claimed it was Winnebago wiring that caused the problem ( The metal plates that cover the wiring arced and melted the wiring ). We then had it towed to our storage unit where the Progressive Insurance adjustor inspected the damage and denied the claim stating it was Winnebago that caused the problem. He agreed with Mercedes that it was Winnebago's problem. Towed to Winnebago service center and they said it was Mercedes wiring that melted and denied responsibility.

I was sold a vehicle with an open safety recall on it by General RV in Birch Run Michigan. The vehicle is a 2023 Winnebago Travato 59GL. I had agreed to the sale and was planning on completing the sale once the recall was finished. They forced the sale through prior to the recall being done so they could inflate their sales numbers for that month. They refused to give back a $10,000 deposit. The vehicle had an open recall for Campaign # 168 – Travato Awning, NHTSA Safety Recall 22V-696. I can provide Winnebago Serial Number if needed.
