GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES Complaints

I was travelling south bound on the highway at 70 mph when out of no where the left rear tire failed. The tread peeled back like an alligator skin and tore apart the side of my truck and caused me to fishtail all over the highway. I was able to avoid colliding with other vehicles on the road and miraculously made it to the shoulder of the highway. The tire is a Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT in a size LT275/65/R20. I still have the remaining parts of the tire. My vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty, but the GMC dealer turned me away and told me I had to deal with Goodyear directly. I reached out to Goodyear to file a claim for the tire failure and damages related to it. They have been ignoring me for over a week, so I have filed a claim with my insurance company to handle the damages. I'm currently waiting to get my truck into the shop for repairs. There were no indications of any issues with the tire. I had them rotated as recommended by the manufacturer and kept the tire pressure at the recommended levels through the dealer when my vehicle was serviced. The TPMS light came on as soon as the tire failed and lost pressure showing the vehicle tire pressure monitoring system was working properly when the tire failed.

LT275/70R18 E While driving west on I10 near Thermal California, the rear driver side tire lost 100% of its thread at a 65 MPH speed. When the thread separated from the tire it damaged fender area of the truck extensively and caused a violent throw and shake of the rear of the truck. The interesting fact is that even after losing 100% of the thread he tire steel belts exposed the tire stayed inflated at 80PSI. This fact is know because I was actively monitoring TPMS tire pressure while safely pulling over. The tries were inspected and pressure levels were checked prior taking off for the trip to Thermal CA to pick up the family 5th wheel camper. These tires supposed to have a thread life of 60,000 miles, mine had reached 32000 miles. At this point there is a huge concern and low confidence in Goodyear brand tire and this may happen to the other tires on my truck and may happen under the load of the 35 foot family RV. No one was injured, and no one reproduced this problem and the manufacturer hasn't yet inspected the tire. As it was stated there was zero warning from TPMs system prior to the failure.

Tire size LT275 65 R20. Driving on Interstate Sunday September 24, 2023 the driver's side back tire blew out causing damage to the rim and side panel of the truck and bumper. We were pulling a 35 foot fifth wheel. We were able to successfully pull over to shoulder but had to wait over an hour for help. The blow out did do some damage to the fifth wheel also. Felt very unsafe until Georgia Champs arrived behind our camper. Our truck had about 16,000 miles on it and the tires. Last October the passenger side rear went flat (12,000 miles on the tires) and were able to pull over before a blowout. There we were stuck for about 3 hours on an interstate and had to change the tire ourselves because couldn't get someone out and felt unsafe waiting any longer.Both tires were on rear of truck and the blowout left over $6000 damage according to the estimate not including damage to the RV.We had no warning alert on the truck and a Goodyear salesman said the tires were not defective. But, we did not run over any apparent road hazard. We felt unsafe and were lucky the blowout didn't cause us to lose control of the truck or RV. Seems hard to believe this can happen twice in less than a year with pretty new tires. We always inspect the tires and make sure the tires are properly inflated according to the truck specifications.

On a trip from Southern California to Waco, TX, tire tread separation occurred on the driver's side front tire (Goodyear Wrangler ST-A LT265/60R20) on Sept 4, 2023 in Deming, NM. On the return trip from Waco, TX, to Southern California, on Sept 15, 2023 the tread on the passenger side rear tire (Goodyear Wrangler ST-A LT265/60R20)started separating in the same manner. The tire was replaced with the spare tire in Deming, NM, and the trip was resumed. On the same day, Sept 15, 2023 on arrival into Blythe, CA, the driver's side rear tire (Goodyear Wrangler ST-A LT265/60R20) in the same manner (tread separation). At that point, all the tires were replaced at a tire shop in Blythe, CA. In summary, within an 11 day period, three tires (Goodyear Wrangler ST-A LT265/60R20) failed from tread separation. All tires were the same make and model. They were purchased mounted when the new vehicle on Sept 11, 2018 (Chevrolet Silverado HD) was purchased. The three tires (Goodyear Wrangler ST-A LT265/60R20) failed from Sept 4, 2023 through Sept 15, 2023.

The outside tread separated without a drop in air pressure or without any warning, other than a wobble before the tire blew out. This occurred at 65 mph (posted speed limit) on a busy interstate. I was only able to avoid a wreck because I was traveling in the right lane and was able to immediately pull off the side of the road. The tire destroyed my inner wheel well and outer trim, causing over $1,400 damage. The tread flew into the left lane and was run over by every vehicle traveling in the left lane. I turned the tire in to the General Manager at the Williamsburg Goodyear Store, [XXX] . He gave me the number to call for Goodyear claims. I called the number twice during business hours 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm CST only to reach a voicemail that said they were on their lunch break. The voicemail did not give an option to leave a message. I reported this the next day via email to [XXX] . He said he would give Goodyear Claims my telephone number and email address and they would get back to me. I have not heard back from Goodyear. My insurance company has photos of the damage and paid $1,200 for the damage and I paid $200 for my co-pay to have my truck repaired. I have photos of the tire and damage that I can provide. Because I have zero faith in a tire that blew without warning with 41,800 miles on a 55,000 thread wear warranty, I purchased 4 new tires from another manufacturer. [XXX] said this tire was discontinued and wasn't available to replace the blown tire even if I wanted to replace it. Goodyear tires 275/65R18 used on an F150 are experiencing near tread separation on the passenger rear side and the beginning of tread rips/tears on drivers rear side in similar locations. Manufacture week and year 1819. These tires have gone through periodic rotation as well. Noticed a shimmy while driving and upon inspection saw the tear/ripe at the tread interface with the sidewall. Tires are nearing the end of life and close to being replaced anyway however given the potential defect potential and safety hazard I am reporting. I personally don’t feel this should be occurring even given the near end of life condition and what appears to be the start of dry rot. Pictures provide 3 photos of the torn passenger side and 3 photos of the rear drivers side showing the beginnings of rips on multiple locations.

LT245/75R16 The fist tire failure was rear driver's side which caused a code service stable trac- this caused the vehicle to lose power and engine to die. I made home at 20mph in yraffic.I spent $500 for diagnostic check and new tire. The tire is misshapen and alerts sensor that caused engine to lose power and ultimately die. With new tire the problem was solved. But then the rear passenger tire while on the freeway acted up and caused the van to shake and rattle violently. Drove home at lower speed . I replace that tire with the spare which is a different brand and the van ran fine. Checked the bad tire and it is higher on one side than the other. Checked front tires and there are flat spots and irregularities on both tires

Tire Size LT275/65R20 While towing a trailer was accelerating onto the freeway at approximately 45MPH the rear driver side tire exploded. The tread partially separated causing extensive damage to the vehicles wheel well, rear bumper and undercarriage. Tires was inflated to approximately 77PSI and tire temperatures were normal on the display cluster. Tire had 26,200 miles on it at the time of the incident.

The contact owns a 2004 Mercedes-Benz E320 equipped with Arroyo Tires, Tire Line: Grand Sport ZR A/S, Tire Size: 225/55/R16, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard an unusual sound coming from the rear tires. The contact parked the vehicle and became aware that the rear tires tread had separated, and the steel belts were visible. The tires were not replaced. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the tires were replacement tires purchased at Pep Boys. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 250,000. The tire failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

LT275/65R20 Wrangler Trailrunner After my second tire having a bubble, I was riding and felt a wobble so I took it to a car care in el campo, instead of getting the tires rotated and balanced. I had yet ANOTHER TIRE with a bubble. Tried to order another tire but come to find out that Good year discontinued this style of tire. I know they did it because of how bad a tire they have. So I had to order a full set of four new tires. So now I have one tire with less than 8000 miles and another with less than 500 miles and I had to pay for four new tires. I think Goodyear should pay for their mistake not write it off and make another tire without any recourse.
