The engine oil cooling system failed on my 2021 Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2.0T at approximately 45,000 miles. The failure caused engine oil to contaminate the engine coolant system, creating a brown/milky “milkshake” substance inside the coolant reservoir and throughout the cooling system. The dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal oil cooler/oil filter housing failure. The contamination affected multiple cooling system components, and the dealership estimated approximately $8,300 in repairs, including replacement of multiple cooling system parts. The manufacturer offered partial goodwill assistance toward the repair cost. Prior to diagnosis, the vehicle displayed low coolant and low oil symptoms. I had to add approximately one quart of engine oil. I am concerned this premature failure could create a safety risk due to possible overheating or engine failure while driving. The vehicle had been maintained normally and had not previously overheated. The issue was confirmed by an authorized Alfa Romeo dealership.

NHTSA safety recall 25V-586 was issued on September 9, 2025. It has now been eight months without a resolution from the manufacturer, and per the FCA recall notice (accessed at [XXX] ) "The Fuel Delivery Module (FDM) on your vehicle may contain internal parts that can be affected by heat, which can reduce fuel flow and lead to a loss of drive power while driving. A loss of drive power can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning." This is a critical safety issue and the lengthy delay in providing a remedy puts lives at risk. I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding serious engine issues I have experienced with my Alfa Romeo vehicle. The ongoing mechanical problems have created significant inconvenience, financial hardship, and concerns regarding the safety and reliability of the vehicle. Since owning the vehicle, I have experienced persistent engine-related problems including [loss of power/engine stalling/check engine light/oil consumption/rough idling/etc.]. Despite attempts to address the issue through repairs and maintenance, the problem continues to occur. These recurring issues have negatively impacted my ability to reliably use the vehicle for daily transportation. In addition, I am concerned that these issues may reflect a manufacturing defect or unresolved mechanical problem that has not been properly corrected. I have made efforts to have the vehicle inspected and repaired, yet the condition persists, resulting in continued frustration and unexpected expenses. I respectfully request the following: * reimbursement for repair costs related to the engine issue * Documentation regarding any recalls, technical service bulletins, or known engine defects associated with this model * Assistance in resolving this matter promptly and fairly I would appreciate a written response outlining the next steps to resolve this complaint. I hope to settle this issue professionally without needing to escalate the matter further through consumer protection agencies, warranty enforcement, or legal channels. Please contact me at your earliest convenience regarding this matter.

I took the vehicle to Auto Zone for a basic diagnostic and it came back that the fuel pump is failing and defective. I only recently purchased the vehicle and found that there’s a recall on it for this reason. The yellow check engine light came on and it stalled while driving home.

In Feb 2025, I was involved in an accident where a driver damaged my driver's side door. I brought my car to the Fix Auto Downtown LA location for repairs. Cosmetically the door was repaired, but over the next year my latch would temporarily lock, preventing access and requiring me to enter through my passenger side door/climb over the center console. In Feb 2026, the latch permanently closed. In Jan 2026, I hit debris on the freeway, which required a repair of my front bumper and undercarriage. I had moved from LA to Orange County, and went to the Fix Auto Yorba Linda location to remediate the door repair and address the new damage. The date of repair for both items was April 15, 2026, as I was unable to make time for an immediate appointment. I received the car back on May 5, 2026, and noticed the front collision error light was turned on, the parking collision mode worked only intermittently, and I had difficulty one time the next day with my door opening (was stuck partially latched/open and my gas cap would not open). The door and gas cap worked after the incident, but, due to both repair shops' lack of quality work, I'm skeptical that the initial problem was remediated. I would like to request both the Fix Auto Downtown Los Angeles and Yorba Linda locations be investigated for returning my vehicle in an unsafe condition. The repetition in the state of repairs indicates potential negligence from Fix Auto.
