2020 ALFA ROMEO STELVIO- Port Huron, MI
Ground strap is faulty. I have owned the vehicle for less than 2 years and am already on my 4th battery because the ground strap keeps draining it. The dealership is finally replacing the ground strap under my warranty but on several occasions I have been left essentially stranded away from home because the vehicle was acting completely fine then will randomly not start due to the faulty ground strap not allowing the alternator to actually charge the battery. Every time this happens it has to go to the dealership because it cannot be jumped and all the lights in the dash come on and need to be reset. This failure happens at random and no lights ever come on in the dash as a warning before it happens. The warranty also will not cover the battery even though it’s being drained due to the faulty strap and I must pay almost $900 for the dealership to install a new one.

The contact noticed that the crash incident date listed on the report was March 4, 2026, while the incident occurred on April 4, 2026. The contact informed the third-party contractor of the error, and the contact was concerned that the contractor had pulled the wrong data because the incident date listed was incorrect. The manufacturer later sent a summary of the evaluation report to the contact, stating that the reported incident was not due to the manufacturer's responsibility. The vehicle was not repaired. 2022 ALFA ROMEO STELVIO- Wake Forest, NC
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Fuel delivery system – specifically the low-pressure fuel pump failed, causing poor engine performance and ultimately requiring replacement. The repair was completed by an authorized Alfa Romeo dealer. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle began running rough and could have stalled unexpectedly, which presents a safety risk if it occurs in traffic or at highway speeds. Loss of engine performance can reduce the driver’s ability to accelerate or maintain speed, increasing the risk of a collision. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The issue was diagnosed and confirmed by an authorized Alfa Romeo dealership, which replaced the fuel pump under extended warranty. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected and repaired by an authorized Alfa Romeo dealer. No inspection was conducted by police or insurance representatives, as no accident occurred. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The vehicle exhibited rough running conditions along with repeated safety warning lights over a period of approximately two weeks prior to the failure. The warnings became more frequent leading up to the repair, indicating a worsening condition. Given the nature of the failure and its similarity to issues identified in prior model years, I request that this matter be evaluated for a potential defect trend and considered for further investigation.

2018 ALFA ROMEO STELVIO- Los Angeles, CA
I am reporting a safety issue with my 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio (VIN: [XXX] ). The vehicle has experienced repeated failures of critical lighting systems, including the headlights, brake lights, and turn signals, which have stopped working while driving. The issue began around 42,000 miles and occurred while the vehicle was covered under a Mopar Maximum Care warranty. There have been four repair attempts for the same issue. The problem was initially misdiagnosed as a headlight issue, but was later determined to involve the Body Control Module (BCM). I was also initially told this repair was not covered under warranty, which was later determined to be incorrect. Despite repairs, the issue has persisted. The vehicle also has an open recall with no available remedy. This creates a serious safety concern, as failure of headlights, brake lights, and turn signals increases the risk of an accident. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
