2018 BMW M240I Complaints

The daytime running lights (DRL) LED module overheated due to poor thermal design burning the connection point and turning the"angel eyes" amber, yellow.When the LED module overheats, it chars and browns the leading edge of the internal fiber optic light tube which permanently alters the refracted light color from crisp white to amber/brown.BMW has released a Technical Service Bulletin acknowledging this dimming/discolorization "flaw". BMW reuses to cover this out of warranty because they claim a Technical Service Bulletin is not a recall ergo a safety issue.BMW claims this is a cosmetic or minor component failure, not a safety issue.This LED module eventually burns out completely and the DRL will go dark.This reduces the vehicle's visibility to oncoming traffic during the day creating a safety hazard.My contention is that this warrants a vehicle recall since DRL are mandated in all vehicles to improve a vehicle 's visibility. 2018 BMW M240i - no sound from radio, or any aux input. May be blown amplifier. Extremely loud crackling sound, intermitent sound.

Each of the two LED taillights have failed. The right rear LED turn signal failed in the Spring of 2022 when the car had approximately 12,000 miles of use and the left rear LED turn signal failed in the Fall of 2023 when the car had approximately 15,000 miles of use.
