    The power assist steering goes out and you have to manually try to steer the car the part that has to be replaced is the power assist steering module which is located in the steering assembly I have found this to be a problem with Cadillac XT5 models from 2017 through 2019 also in a Chevrolet SUV MODEL of the same years an internal memo was sent out but not notified owners

    Without any prior symptoms or warnings when I was driving on the highway I felt the car losing power and the car started to slow down in the middle of the road and then check engine light came on when i was on my way to pull over. When I stopped, I felt a strong vibration throughout the car, as if it was about to shut down. Then it actually stopped. I tried once to start it, but failed. I towed the car to the dealership .It took them 4 days to diagnose it , l They charged me a diagnose fee for removing the top of the engine and then a separate fee for removing the bottom of the engine. Then they told me they had to call Cadillac support because they didn't know what to do.I waited about a week to know the result and then unfortunately they told me that I had to replace the entire engine and pay about $13,000. Let me tell you I was at the same dealership 4 days before what happened. I was there because they recommended me to do a throttle body cleaner. I did the recommended service and they confirmed that everything was working properly and the car is perfectly fine. Let me also tell you that I do all the maintenance, I change the oils even before the time for changing them, I use a premium gas from top tier station, Now the car at the dealership since February 2025 , my car's engine is back ordered, they don't have any expectations or time frame or even average wait time! So frustrated and nothing to do. It is truly a disaster and I do not know what I did to deserve this material and moral suffering. I hope to God that you help me to be justified in this clear injustice. Thank you;

    In 2019, GM released service bulletin 18-NA-358 that confirms the company's knowledge of of defective parts in transmissions. I have a 2017 Cadillac XTS experiencing these symptoms and GM should be responsible for parts failing due to metal shavings. This needs to be a recall. The transmissions are not getting gas, shuddering, and stalling when accelerating. This shuddering has almost caused me to be in many accidents. The vehicle owner should not be responsible for replacing expensive parts and entire transmissions due to metal shavings stalling transmissions.

    Safety Concerns and Defects: I am reporting several safety-related defects in my 2020 Cadillac CT5, which have posed serious risks to me and my family: ? 1. Transmission Pump Failure: •The transmission pump failed, causing loss of power and jerking while driving at highway speeds. This occurred on[XXX] in Georgia with my two small children in the car, putting us at high risk of a crash. •No warning lights appeared, and the failure was diagnosed by the dealer (Hennessey Cadillac). 2. EVAP System Failure (P0451): •A fuel tank pressure sensor malfunctioned, triggering a check engine light shortly after purchase. This affects emissions and presents a fire risk due to potential fuel vapor leaks. •The issue was confirmed by the dealer. 3. Camshaft Solenoid Failure (P0027): •A camshaft solenoid failure was repaired by the dealer, but was not disclosed to me at purchase. •This could have caused engine stalling or hesitation. ? Has the Issue Been Confirmed? •Yes, all issues have been confirmed by the dealership. The vehicle has been returned for repairs, and I can provide diagnostic and repair records. ? Safety Risk and Urgency: The transmission failure almost caused a serious accident on a highway. These defects present imminent safety risks that need investigation. I believe other owners may face similar issues. ? Request for NHTSA Action: Please investigate these defects in the 2020 Cadillac CT5, particularly the transmission pump failure, EVAP system, and engine stalling risks. Thank you for your attention to this matter. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

    My wife and I purchased a certified used Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum with 36K miles on it from a reputable dealership near our home. After having the vehicle for less than a week, the engine just lost power suddenly and without notice while our entire family (3 kids) were on our way home. We were able to coast off the main highway and onto a crossing road before it glided to a stop in the middle of an intersection. We were able to get the vehicle towed back to the dealership where they are telling us it needs a replacement engine. I am very concerned with how the event unfolded, and it could have been much worse had it happened where we were not able to get off the road. I am happy GM and the dealership are working quickly to replace the engine, but now I have safety concerns and feel like the vehicle has lost some of its value. Even before I could re-title the vehicle or make our first payment on it. I am reading similar stories and am baffled how GM could produce an engine with such a widespread problem, especially when paying significant money for the vehicle.
