  • 2022 CADILLAC ESCALADE
    - Flora, MS

My husband, 2 young children and I were driving on the frontage road to the interstate at approximately 55 miles per hour when the engine suddenly stopped functioning and almost caused a catastrophic wreck with the cars around us. The Cadillac dealership it was towed to evaluated it and determined it had experienced total engine failure. It’s covered in the NHTSA’s investigation into the 6.2 L V8 GM engine.

    - Largo, FL

Driving at 45 MPH on [XXX] in Florida, 16,000 Miles 6.2 complete engine failure, dealer and GM refused to offer a loaner, dealer estimates 4 to 6 months for replacement engine. Filed claim with GM customer care, totally useless responses. I have spoken with 4 other dealers in my area, all of them tell me they have multiple SUV's and trucks waiting for engines. Since the failure happened I started doing research, there are multiple FaceBook groups with thousands of members nationwide all experiencing the same issues. GM is doing everything they can to keep this issue hidden from the public while still selling the same defective engines in new vehicles. Multiple people have reported they are on their second or third replacement engines! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

    - Cushing , OK

My 2013 has only 75k miles on it and all the dash lights flash and the car fails every couple of days. It has a brand new battery but the gauges on the dash continue to dance. I’m not sure what the problem is but it’s a huge safety factor in drivability.

  • 2023 CADILLAC ESCALADE
    - Centerton, AR

A very loud clicking noise from the engine was being produced and rapidly intensifying. It triggered an anxiety attack since I was on the freeway. Luckily, I was near my dealership otherwise I would’ve called emergency services. Turns out my engine was confirmed to be on the verge of a complete shutdown

  • 2021 CADILLAC ESCALADE
    - Niwot, CO

I was driving home on the evening of Monday [XXX] in my 2021 Cadillac Escalade. The car began to shake, the yellow engine warning light began flashing, black smoke began pouring out of the exhaust pipes and there was a strong smell of fuel. I was 1/2 mile from my home. I limped the car home, left it in the driveway overnight, and called Cadillac Roadside assistance to have the car towed to the Cadillac dealership in Boulder, CO the next morning. The dealership's initial diagnosis it a failed lifter and cam. This is a known issue across all GM's 6.2L engines and is caused by their AFM/DFM management system. I am at 69,000 miles, with only 1,000 miles to go on the powertrain warranty (70k). GM needs to step up and recall these motors. They are saying that they might offer extended component coverage to someone that has had at least 2 failed lifter repairs. This does me no good with only 1,000 miles to go under my 70k powertrain warranty. There are many reports of completely failed engines from this problem on super low mileage vehicles. Two incidents of the same failure, although a few years apart. Vehicle placed in "Park" (foot on the brake, which is necessary in order to shift into P); when brake pedal released, vehicle suddenly revs and lurches forward. First time, in garage, and so minor damage except to items in garage; second time 3/7/2025, totaled this vehicle plus major damage to another vehicle.

Driving on the highway under normal load and then all of a sudden motor starts to tic then gets louder and warning comes on saying low oil pressure turn off engine now before I could get off the highway safely the motor completely shuts off once I was safely over and stopped waited for a bit and attempted to restart the vehicle and it wouldn't do anything what so ever that moment I realized that the engine completely seized and left me stranded it showed zero signs of issues before that and completely caught me off guard now I have a 86000 truck sitting in my driveway with no time frame of when it will be repaired
