2022 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 Complaints

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle unexpectedly hard shifted and the check engine warning light along with the reduced engine power warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with trouble codes P0700, indicating a transmission control module (TCM) failure, and P2717, indicating a pressure control solenoid failure. The contact was informed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

I was driving down the freeway at 75 miles an hour. All of a sudden the press start popped up pulled over. On the shoulder and the motor would not start.

Vehicle developed engine ticking/tapping noise followed by rough running and misfire condition. Independent repair facility performed engine teardown and found cylinder 4 exhaust camshaft lobe severely worn/damaged. Repair facility stated the exhaust roller follower/lifter needle bearings failed and fell out, causing the roller to seize and come off position, resulting in improper valve operation and cylinder malfunction. Vehicle lost proper engine performance and required major internal engine repair including camshaft, lifters/lash adjusters, and roller followers. Failure appears consistent with GM Preliminary Information bulletin PIP5847B for 2019–2024 Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 2.7L L3B engines describing exhaust roller follower bearing failure and camshaft damage. Concern is that sudden valvetrain failure could result in loss of power, engine failure, or unsafe driving condition.

The consistency of these reports suggests a systemic problem that warrants immediate attention. The safety implications of this defect are significant. A vehicle that does not properly register being in park can increase the risk of unintended movement, potential rollaways, or prolonged engine operation. This could lead to property damage, injury, or worse, especially in residential or high-traffic areas. Additionally, a truck that remains running unattended raises concerns about theft and unnecessary emissions. Transmission shifts hard with a hesitaion when first taking off. mostly when cold but it is unperdicable some times even when warm. Intermitate shudder at 30 to 50 mph feels like i am running over small even bumps.Could be a safety problem as it never happens at the same times, makes me drive angst and i don't like it.

The rear park assist will randomly turn itself off. It happens while just driving down the road and also at times when backing up. This has been an ongoing issue since I took the truck in to get the chips installed for it to work.

After retrieving the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated and decelerated unintendedly while driving. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000.

The micro switch that tells the truck that it is in park is not working. So when the truck is put in park the display says vehicle not in park and dings. This started at only 48,000 miles intermittently but is doing so constantly now at 53,500 miles and I’m having to buy a part to replace it.

No warnings, just took it in and failed test. Waiting on engine replacement over two weeks with no idea when itll be taken care of. Only around 8k miles.

My engine shut off while driving down a highway. I had to coast into an uneven, steep ditch. If someone would have been behind me, it could have caused an accident. I have the 6.2 engine and followed the recall instructions. Dealer said motor was fine and around 7,000 miles later it failed. The oil weight change is not fixing these issues.
