2022 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 Complaints

The engine in my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 6.2L engine lost all power on the interstate which could have lead to a fatal accident. I was going 65 mph and then power dropped to nothing and the engine shut off.

A lifter has failed on the driver side of the engine. Dealer is going to replace the bad lifter, but I’m worried about all the metal debris that has been put into the motor, especially after the recall for the bad crankshaft bearings that could cause it to lock up at any time. There was no warnings or check engine light if they’re just had a very bad tick all of a sudden

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

The failure had occurred five times, and the contact was able to reset the computer and restart the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil, and the transmission was shifting hard. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the engine in the vehicle was a replacement engine. The dealer had not diagnosed or repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

Telematics module failure. Causing loss of Onstar, self driving feature, compass, navigation.

While driving at highway speed with cruise control engaged, the vehicle experienced a sudden loss of propulsion. The engine began jerking and the vehicle rapidly decelerated from highway speed (50 mph) to 10–15 mph. The transmission appeared to disengage or shift to neutral around 10 mph, and the vehicle was unable to maintain speed, creating a hazardous situation in traffic. The vehicle then shut down and displayed a message to restart the engine along with a check engine light. When attempting to restart, the engine would not turn over properly and produced a loud clicking/struggling noise, similar to a failed or seized engine. The vehicle was towed and is currently awaiting diagnosis at a dealership. This failure occurred without warning and created a serious safety risk due to sudden loss of power while driving.

One day my truck drove perfect to, the next day while driving it starting losing power drastically on the highway and shuts off that i had to dead steer it to the shoulder.”engine power reduced/grinding/knocking sound came on. I brought it to my mechanic and he says change the engine he is seeing a common thing with these 2.7 liter from this truck model, i paid $6,500 to change it and it worked on the second hand motor that was put in. 4k miles later while driving from GA, i heard the same noises and the same message on the dash and the truck shuts off again in the lane and i had to steer it off to the shoulder. I towed it this time to tropical Chevrolet and paid diagnostic fee for them to look and tell me i need another engine that will run me over fourteen thousand dollars with parts and labor. I told them hey i just had this motor changed 4k miles ago can you figure out whats going on this is unsafe, best they could offer me is trade in the vehicle, no discount no recall no nothing. So i refused and towed it back to the mechanic who swapped it, he said i have warranty and he changed it to another motor and charged me $1,000 because the company he got the engine from said the truck overheated so they wont honor my warranty and he had to pay for it out of pocket…. Yeah! Any way i went to pick up the truck with now the 3rd motor in it and on the highway 5 minutes and 2.8 miles later(i have video proof of this) THE SAME THING HAPPENED! On the turnpike the message came up and the speed dropped no power, it didn't shut off this time but i pulled over safely, still no overheating, i made some videos and sent it to the guys at tropical Chevrolet and didn't even get a reply, i called the mechanic and he tells me to drive it back to him, i did, they did some test and cleared the codes, i drove to auto-nation chevrolet but talking with them led no where, i left, while at the gas pump i turned off the truck and it won’t turn back on now, so it’s towed back to the mechanic

My wife and I were driving at highway speed around 70mph and truck shut off. There were no dash indicators or warning lights that signaled any engine/diagnostic issues prior to engine shutting off. Lost all power but still had brakes and steering. Coasted to safe stopping point and truck would not turn over or restart. The truck had to be towed to dealer for repair. The assessment was the engine had seized while driving and would be replaced under the GM 6.2L engine recall.
