My 2023 Silverado 1500 6.2L ZR2 AEV with 17,500 miles went into the shop for the L87 Loss of Propulsion recall, on 20 OCT 2025. The dealership didnt contact me for 2 weeks, so I called. They than told me my truck failed the pico test and needed a new engine. I also asked for my leaf springs to be looked at under tsb for excessive noise. I also asked for my ZR2 to have the new update installed for the radio fix (my speakers crackle when I talk to people on bluetooth). They had my truck from 20 OCT 2026 until 27 JAN 2026 for a total of 99 days straight. No loaner was available. I had to call GM customer service every week for subpar updates from the dealership. Im active duty army so not having my pov to report to work was very stressful. When I got my truck back, it was covered in dirt, oil on the exterior paint and inside the engine bay. The dealership didnt update my truck as requested and didnt touch my leaf springs at all. They said it would take 5-7 weeks to get new ones, but I needed my vehicle back which is anitated on the work order. Thr parts were all delivered 45 days after it sat there and my truck wasn't worked on until day 94 as advised by the service advisor, as the mechanic would get to it after his next vehicle. I asked how is my truck not priority sitting there for 93 days at the time. GM customer service has submitted my vehicle payment reimbursement as I paid 4 payments while having no vehicle or loaner. $44 a day for a rental at my duty station would cost me considerable amount of my own money to cover the rest and would not be a similar vehicle to my truck, as ot would be a small car. JN Chevrolet in Honolulu did not communicate when it failed the test for 14 days, I had to call them, they gave zero updates for 2 months, I had to call GM customer service. I only received 4 calls in total from the dealership when I asked to speak to the manager. (Who never called me back). I got my truck back filthy, other services ignored. 3rd Silverado and last.

I am writing to formally document a series of catastrophic mechanical failures involving my vehicle, as well as serious inaccuracies currently reflected on the Carfax report. At approximately 15,000 miles, my vehicle experienced a catastrophic engine failure that required a full engine replacement. Less than 900 miles after the engine replacement, the vehicle then suffered a catastrophic transmission failure, which also required replacement. In connection with the transmission failure, there was also a fuel module issue that left me stranded. These failures were not minor or routine service events. One breakdown occurred on a major roadway and required the road to be shut down due to the vehicle being disabled. Another breakdown occurred on the Florida Turnpike as a result of complete engine failure, leaving me stranded in a highly dangerous situation. Despite the severity of these events, the Carfax report does not accurately reflect what occurred. The Carfax report does not state that the engine was replaced, and the transmission failure is not identified as a transmission replacement at all. Instead, it is reported as routine or normal service, without any indication that a catastrophic transmission failure or replacement occurred. This misrepresentation significantly understates the true condition and mechanical history of the vehicle. Due to the repeated catastrophic failures, the circumstances under which they occurred, and the risk posed to my safety and the safety of my family, I am genuinely afraid to drive this vehicle. I want to ensure that all of this information is properly documented and that the vehicle’s records accurately reflect its true history and condition.

I was notified that my 2023 Silverado had an open recall (L87 Engine loss of propulsion). I brought the truck to the dealer for the recall on 8/19 with 35,921 miles on the vehicle. The inspection was performed and I was told it passed. When I asked about the extended special coverage they told me they didn't know what I was talking about. Only 4 months and 4,567 miles later, on 12/29, the vehicle shutdown in traffic and was not able to restart. The engine had failed and the starter fuse blew due to the motor being seized. The dealer relaced the engine due to the same recall that the engine had already been inspected and passed the inspection for.

My husband was driving on Plank rd/rt 219 towards Ebensburg PA when the truck started to buck and he turned off the main road and it shut down. It would not start just said low battery. I had it towed to the garage we use. They just confirmed it is the engine it locked up. I had the inspection for the recall and had the oil changed prior to this happening.

I am sending this email to report that my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado had its rear brakes lock up momentarily on consecutive days (1/13/26 & 1/14/26) driving 70-72 mph. Each occurrence came on without warning and only lasted a brief moment, but locked up hard enough for my rear wheels to screech and slam me forward in the truck, thankfully there were no other vehicles near me. I took the truck to the dealership first thing in the morning on 1/15/26 to be informed later that day that the truck didn't show any codes. The service department at my dealership contacted the TAC Dept. at GM and they determined that the problem was caused by the brake light wiring from my truck topper (that was after they asked if the customer had added any accessories to the truck). I have had the topper for 3 years without any issues. I reached out to the company that installed the topper and the owner said that GM is giving me the run around and trying to point the blame elsewhere. He himself has installed 100's of toppers and they follow the wiring instructions from Leer Toppers. He did a 30 second Google search and said [XXX] , the problem you have experienced is well documented online, GM knows what the problem is with your truck". My truck was at the dealership for 5 days before they released it to me, even after I told them that there are known and documented cases of their trucks experiencing momentary rear wheel lockups. I have called GM Customer Service twice and left messages regarding my truck and TAC # and haven't received a return call. I am fearful that when this happens again and if it does so in the wrong place at the wrong time the end of this story may be tragic. If I was pulling a trailer, driving on ice or in rush hour traffic I can't imagine the outcome. GM knows they have a serious problem and they is comfortable in releasing a dangerous truck back onto the roads. My truck took my truck to Austin and back. Woke up the next day. Started it at approximately 4 o'clock in the afternoon and had engine oil low alert. Got out check the oil in my truck and there was none on the dipstick with the truck off of course. Checked at two other times allowing the dipstick to stay in for three or four minutes. Still no oil on the dipstick. Did not drive truck any further. Truck has the 6.2 L and I had the recall applied to the truck on December 8. The truck has 88% of the oil life remaining according to the truck.

My truck passed the recall PICO test right at 20,000 miles. The dealer put thicker 0w40 oil in. Less than 2,000 miles later, upon hard acceleration from 5-8mph, the engine climbed to 58mph then lost power, shifted itself into Neutral and coasted to the side of road. Truck was towed and told the engine seized up. Changing the oil did not make sense to me as lubrication was always available previously, thickening it does not change the port mill sizes for properly oiling the crank bearings. Now the new engine is revised but I see failures in low milage 2026 models happening.

On 1/24/26 I used the remote starter to warm up the truck and it started but within 3 minutes it shut off. The temperature was in the single digits. So I tried the remote again and it wouldn’t start. And the remote start hasn’t worked since and the check engine light is on. Two years ago when the brake module failed right before that recall the temperature was very cold that day too. Just two months ago the check engine light came on and that time the dealership said the battery failed . It also printed out a whole page of errors , at the dealership.
