Wax coating is evaporating exposing bare metal on the frame. This is the OEM coating and its failure will result premature degradation of the frame of the truck.

My 2015 Silverado was purchased new and around October 2023 the trailer brake service warning started popping up. I was concerned with pulling any sort of trailer that my safety would be at risk, and also the constant noise as a distraction. I have taken to dealer for inspection, but nothing was able to be done at the time. No other warnings or symptoms have appeared. Just the trailer brake service continually going off. Thanks.

I began to smell gas near my gas tank. Upon further inspection, I noticed there was gas leaking down the side of the tank. I then tilted my truck bed to look at the leak from above the tank and I noticed that the plastic piece connector coming out of the fuel pump housing to the supply line was pumping a stream of gas all over the top of the tank. I went to disconnect the hose and the plastic piece broke instantly fully cracking apart. Thankfully this was in my driveway and not driving as this would have been very dangerous. There was no warning light and this would have sprayed fuel everywhere, especially at speed. There are hot parts all over there and would probably resulted in a fire, and at the very least the truck to shut off while driving. I did not take it to a dealer as the damage was extremely obvious. The truck has never been in a crash and I’ve never changed out any components involving the fueling system, meaning that it simply broke apart on its own. This appears to be a common problem and yet it is not a recall. I had to spend my own money replacing the fuel pump and housing in the tank, as well as the supply line connector as the plastic on that also failed. I started smelling gas and then a few days later is when I found the issue, but I had been driving the truck, including at highway speeds. The truck has 100,365 miles and I’m the original owner.

Three or four instances of loss of power steering while making a right hand turn. Power steering failed momentarily except for the last time, steering failed completely while turning into a parking lot and I ended up in the snowbank. All electrical to the vehicle shut off to the vehicle and could not be restored until a new battery was installed. The new battery was completely discharged overnight. Possible related incidents are that several times I have had a message that the security system has been compromised, and I have been locked out of my vehicle spontaneously. I found that there is a recall for this year and model for this issue, but my VIN does not connect to any recall issued. I am afraid to drive this vehicle until this is corrected.

Used the remote start feature to warm up my truck (automatically turns on rear defrost). Upon entering the vehicle I could smell smoke. While driving I turned around and noticed smoke pouring from rear window. I turned off the rear defrost and the window exploded! I contacted the dealer and they claimed the recall had already been completed and they could not assist me.

The transmission has failed in less than 150,000 miles. I was driving in traffic and lost gears. I stopped and tried to get back going and I was stuck being a traffic hazard to the other motorist. I talked to a local transmission shop and he stated that the 2014-2016 Silverados are known for transmission problems even when they were new. He’s rebuilt hundreds of them and Chevrolet should have recalled and fixed them. There were no warning lights or anything through the truck.
