On 09/25/25 at 59,502 miles recall work was completed per NHTSA Recall No. 25V-274, L87 Engine Loss of Propulsion. Dealer paperwork shows that my truck passed the PicoScope inspection and was given the higher viscosity 0W-40 oil. On 12/10/25 at 63,904 miles, with the oil that was changed during the inspection; while traveling on highway NM-52 towing my travel trailer, I experienced a sudden loss of propulsion resulting in my truck stopping in the middle of the roadway. No prior indications of any issues were noted, no check engine lights, no loss of oil pressure, when loss of propulsion occurred. While in the middle of the road I attempted to restart the truck with no start-up. Using gravity, the truck was slowly moved off of the highway backwards. Upon opening the engine hood, a strong odor of burnt engine oil was present. No oil was noted coming out from the engine. When removing the engine oil dip stick it was noted to be steaming and extremely hot to the touch. Due to the location the vehicle it took 2 days to be taken to the dealer. No local vendors were able to pick up the truck to take to the dealer resulting in it having to be personally trailered to the dealer. The vehicle was taken to Bravo Chevrolet and Cadillac in Las Cruces NM. The dealer evaluation of the truck determine that the engine had seized and was replaced under the extended warranty per the same listed recall. This engine failed after passing the required inspections and while utilizing the newly recommended engine oil. This failure could have resulted in an accident due to the nature of the failure, after being led to believe that there were no longer any issues or concerns after passing inspection. Why would there be a failure at that time if the engine passed inspection per the recall? Only cause would be that the remedy action is not properly addressing or correcting the root cause of the failures in these L87 engines.

My truck has the 6.2l engine, prior to me buying it in September 2025 with 27,000 miles it had its engine replaced due to the recall/engine failure, then after 6,000 miles on 12-30-25 the 2nd engine it has had failed and had to be replaced. This truck that only has 34,000 miles is now on its 3rd motor and leaves me worried to really travel with it due to wondering if I am going to be stranded again.

I took my truck in for the recall on the L87 6.2 engine PCOED test and they said it passed. They changed to the 0-40 oil. I noticed a significant fuel mileage drop from mid 20 to low 14 on long highway drives. I had an oil change done and drove 500 miles the next day and there was just a trace of oil on the dipstick. I called my chevy dealership and they said that is normal for oil consumption. I topped off the oil before heading back home and used 3/4 of a quart. I am watching my oil consumption and looking to do an oil consumption test done by the dealership. They did not recommend this test I researched it. I am concerned my engine will blow up.

On April 29, 2025 we took our truck in for these 3 recalls Serial Data Gateway Module • N242435631 -Fuel Injector Flow Rate• N242450630 - Park Assist Retrofit - Exp 05/31/27• N222375790. We picked the truck up and had no issues. Then on November 28, 2025 our fuel injector 2 went out. According to articles we have found the recall for the fuel injector flow rate specifically addresses the ECM not controlling fuel injector flow rates and because it was not doing this correctly it put added stress on the fuel injector #2. We took the vehicle to Ken Garf Chevrolet American Fork Utah and they diagnosed the issue as the fuel injector 2 being bad. They quoted us with parts 2000 dollars to fix it. After researching this recall information we took the vehicle to Sky Chevrolet in Provo Utah where we got the vehicle and where it was serviced in April and asked them to look into the fix. They are telling us that they cannot find any correlation between the fuel injector flow rate and the fuel injector 2 going out so they are wanting $600 dollars to fix the fuel injector flow rate. The next thing since the N242435631 update was performed, the automated clock on longer syncs. This is a known side effect of the gateway module update. We were again told that they could find no correlation between the clock and the recall. When doing research we found that that the 2 are very much connected. I would also like to complain about Ken Garf and how they "diagnosed" an issue we told them was already there. I would like to refunded the 200 dollars for the diagnostic fee.

Vehicle has experienced repeated internal engine failures related to the exhaust valve lash adjusters and valvetrain. The engine developed abnormal valvetrain noise, misfires under load, and loss of power. The check engine light would only flash during hard acceleration or when passing another vehicle (wide-open throttle), then turn off after approximately 10–15 seconds and never remain illuminated. Because the warning light would not stay on, the vehicle continued to be operated without clear indication of an active or worsening engine failure. Dealer inspection confirmed exhaust valve lash adjuster failure, which led to camshaft and valvetrain damage. This failure has occurred more than once, including after prior dealer repairs. This is a serious safety concern because the vehicle was driven at highway speeds and during passing maneuvers while experiencing internal engine damage and misfires, without persistent warning to the driver. Sudden power loss, stalling, or catastrophic engine failure during acceleration or passing presents a risk of crash or injury. This appears to be a systemic engine defect rather than normal wear, as the failure recurred and was not reliably detected by the vehicle’s monitoring system.

On October 6th I took my truck in for the 6.2L recall and it failed. GM replaced the engine as. On Jan 15th 10 days after my first oil change just before 5000 miles the engine began to knock. After being towed 100 miles to the original dealer the replacement engine has blown and now I am waiting for another replacement.

On December 12th, while on interstate 10, my engine started making clanking noise, it started to stall and jerk. I had try to get over to the shoulder of the interstate. I had to restart the truck to try and get off the interstate. It died out. I tried to restart and it did, just enough for me to get it off the interstate. It was finally towed to the dealership. The mechanic said it wasn’t under warranty. They say the rocker atms are bent and 2 pistons were damaged the charge The mechanic also said that my engine in my truck was too small for my truck. He doesn’t know why they use it …. They want $8700 to make the repairs, GM will not assist in cost off to r repair. I’ve come to find out this is a common problem in this model of my truck.

I purchased a pre-owned Chevrolet Silverado Z71, 4WD, off-road, LTZ pickup truck (Model # C1500 k 1500, VIN [XXX] , NAIC # XXX) from Wally Edgar Chevrolet in Lake Orion, Michigan on 3/28/24. It has the V8 – 5.3 L gasoline engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle was, and still is, in very good condition (no scratches, dents, and a good running engine). However, on 10/29/2025 the vehicle started not being able to shift out of 1st gear. I immediately took it to Cruise Transmission in Rochester Hills, Michigan to have it evaluated. They indicated that the transmission “valve body” needed to be replaced at a cost of about $3,000. Their problem was that they couldn’t locate that part anywhere, and said it might be a month or more before it would be available! After not hearing anything for a couple of months (checking-in occasionally), I began to try to find out why that part wasn’t available. When I did a Google search on “can you sue GM if they can’t provide parts for a [XXX] vehicle”, it came back with the fact that there was a class-action lawsuit in progress for transmission issues on the 2015-2019 Chevy Silverado pickup trucks with 8-speed transmissions. When I inquired with two of the main law firms associated with the class-action lawsuit they indicated that I wasn’t a candidate for the suit because my vehicle was out of the warranty period. I indicated that I understood that, but that I wasn’t able to use my vehicle because the part wasn’t available anywhere. I also called several local dealerships to see if they could get the part. All of which indicated that they couldn’t get the part either, and also expressed their frustration with the issue. On 1/6/2026 and 1/7/2026, I spoke with Chevrolet Customer Service who indicated they didn't know when or if the part would be available. I can't afford to throw away an $18,000 vehicle!!!
