Truck with 32,496 miles began to shift in a strange manner, the engine then shutoff with no warning while traveling at highway speeds. The truck shifted into neutral and I was able to coast to the side of the road. I had the truck towed to the dealer and they found that the oil pump had failed and that it spun the 6 and 7 rod end bearings and the number 4 main bearing. The truck has the L87 6.2 liter V8. The engine stopped on 12/29/2024 and the truck was towed to the dealer. The truck was at the dealer until 3/28/2025. The truck was at the dealer for this amount of time due the GM having a national back-order on the engine.

When the vehicle is completely stopped, shifted to the park position, ignition turned off, the motor will stop running but an error come up on the dash " shift to park" and the horn start chirping and the instrument panel, radio etc. will not shut off even though it is in park .I have read this is a huge safety concern with my model truck and many other Chevrolet vehicles but I'm not sue if it's resulted in any injuries or damage. The GM customer service rep I spoke to said to file this with you NHTSA so that if there is enough of a safety concern or defective part problem a recall will be issues. thank you for your time [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Truck started making noise from under the hood and lost power at the stop sign near our house. I was able to get it restarted and drive it 50 yards to my driveway. I had it towed to Galles Chevrolet the next day. I have waited 3 weeks now to get word from the dealer. I was able to finally speak with a service advisor this morning who told me that they suspect the engine has failed. They have yet to tear it down and cannot recommend me for a rental till they order the parts. They assured that they would get to it by 4/8/25 at the latest.

Three year old vehicle with regular dealership maintenance. Spring broke, dealership stated that this is very common in the 6.2 L engine. Caused the Lifters to fail and scarring to happen on the camshafts. It was less expensive to replace the engine. This vehicle was of course out of warranty. Happened suddenly almost caused an accident as I was driving down the road and lost the ability to drive.

Main bearing failure, same problems as reported by other 6.2 Liter GM vehicles. I had regular oil changes and was still 2000 miles from my next oil change and the engine failed with no warning on a road trip. Waiting on GM to send a new engine block under warranty. My engine was also 2 quarts of oil low.
