2022 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 Complaints

My company purchased a new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado RST from Bomnin Chevrolet Manassas in December 2022. The vehicle has been properly maintained according to GM’s recommended maintenance schedule, including routine oil changes and tire rotations. On February 10, 2025, the truck began shaking and repeatedly shutting off. Bomnin Chevrolet diagnosed a failed fuel injector and completed the repair. No loaner vehicle was available, requiring me to use Uber transportation until the vehicle was returned on February 12, 2025. On May 19, 2025, the truck again shut off multiple times while traveling approximately 45 mph. The vehicle was returned to Bomnin Chevrolet, where it remained for three days. No loaner vehicle was available, forcing me to rent a vehicle from Enterprise. The dealership ultimately stated it could not diagnose the problem and advised that the failure would have to occur again before it could be repaired. The vehicle was returned on May 22, 2025. On June 18, 2026, the engine shut off while driving and would not restart. The vehicle was towed to Bomnin Chevrolet. After several days, the dealership advised that the engine had suffered catastrophic failure due to a lifter issue and required complete replacement. GM approved the warranty repair; however, the replacement engine is on national backorder. No loaner truck was available. The dealership offered only a $44-per-day rental reimbursement, which is not comparable to the business use of a full-size pickup truck. As of June 29, 2026, the vehicle remains at the dealership, leaving my business without a suitable replacement vehicle and significantly impacting daily operations. I am requesting a voluntary manufacturer repurchase of the vehicle, reimbursement of all rental cars, and a fare financial compensation package for any inconvenience.

There was an abnormal ticking sound coming from the vehicle before the tailgate opened independently. The contact stated that while attempting to close the tailgate, the tailgate failed to latch securely. The contact stated that the vehicle was unoccupied and turned off when the failure occurred. The dealer was made aware of the failure, and the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The contact stated that the failure was a persistent failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The power-unlatching tailgate drops open unexpectedly. Opened on freeway at 75mph. Known saftey recall however my VIN isn't listed as an affected vehicle

2022 Silverado with 6.2 l87 engine was taken into a Chevy dealership to have recall check on engine. Pico scope was used to inspect engine and no issues found. Oil was upgraded and oil cap replaced. A week later traveling many hours from home the engine suffered catastrophic failure and has now been at a dealership for the last seven weeks waiting for a replacement. There is no eta for a replacement.

On June 7th, 2026, I pulled into my driveway, and put the truck in park (did not set the parking brake, but left it running). I walked, approximately 25 feet up my driveway, towards my garage, to retrieve my garbage can, to bring it to the road. About the time i got to my garbage can, my truck proceded to roll towards me, as i walked back towards the road. I then noticed it rolling, let go of my garbage can, ran to the truck, jumped in it, hit the brakes, and i had to shift the truck back in gear, then back in park. By that time, it had already struck the support pole to my temporary car port, destroyed it, and caused a small amount of damage to the front fender of my truck (small dent, and some scratches in the front plastic). I know i did not leave it in drive, as i had to shift it into gear, then back into park, as well as the fact, that it stayed still, as i walked normally, 25 feet up the driveway. I tested the truck, after the fact. It starts rolling immediately after taking your foot off the brake, from the same spot. On a side note, my truck had just received an update download, 2 days prior to the incident. There were no warning lights. Luckily, my safety, was the only one at risk. I have not had it inspected, and it has not happened again, since. I did contact General Motors, immediately, but got no response to my email. I do have a short security video, starting when i retrieved my garbage can, to the moment the truck struck the pole.

I hit a deer. The driver’s side roof rail air bag attempted to deploy. The wiring shorted out and electrical smoke filled the cabin.

On June 18, 2026, my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5.3L V8 engine and approximately 41,000 miles suddenly stalled and died while driving in traffic and would not restart. The vehicle had to be towed to a Chevrolet dealership (Starling Chevrolet in Mt. Pleasant, SC). The service manager ran a diagnostic and identified the Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM) as the likely cause of failure. This appears to be a known and widespread issue affecting newer Silverado trucks. The sudden stall while driving with no warning created a dangerous situation in traffic. The vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting repair under the powertrain warranty.

I am having the same issue as the GM Safety Recall N232426400 - where it says it is a common issue in 2020-2024 Chevy 1500's (which my truck is a 2022 Chevy). Where the tailgate will drop by itself. I looked into this recall and my truck is not included. However, it just rained heavy and now my truck's tailgate is dropping on it's own. This is a safety risk due to loading the truck bed and having it open on its own without me knowing resulting in items falling out of my truck onto the roadway. Another thing is my lane keeping assist is no longer working.

The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, and there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the brakes. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the brake sensors had detached. The repair was not covered under warranty. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

Code P0747 the car jerked forward twice and did not accelerate. The engine light came on. GM said my truck was not covered under the special coverage because of my VIN although it’s got the same problem for the same truck listed
