2021 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 Complaints

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the tailgate unlatched and caused the tools to fall out of the vehicle. The tailgate warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that occasionally while attempting to close the tailgate, the tailgate failed to close and latch securely. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The dealer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Goodyear Wranger At Trailrunner 275 65R20. I was heading home with my 14 year old daughter Sunday night. When I was merging on the on ramp to the highway and I felt a vibration. So I was in the process of slowing down and boom. My truck went broadside in the highway. I gathered it up and got all together. I don’t have a single dash light on or anything. The tire was still holding air. A matter of fact it still is. But when the tread came off it destroyed my bedside and bumper. My truck only has 32,473 miles on it. The tires are rated for 55,000. I just want something to happen to the manufacturer. If that would’ve happened to the right front it would’ve been bad. Or if it happened to a mom and kids. This is not good.

Tailgate. Yes it can be inspected. It opens and closes randomly , I was going on to the freeway for work when I suddenly received a notice that the tailgate was opening. when I pulled over the gate was open and all the contents were at the end of the truck bed, power saws and equipment almost flew out into traffic! I then called the dealer who told me there was a recall and to bring it in, so I did and when I pulled in the service department the tailgate opened upon entering service area. After about 20 minutes he tells me that mine is not covered. Warranty ran out! And not on that Vin#. The tailgate now opens and closes randomly at all different times.Try to close and it just keeps opening and closing.Have to go out and close manually.

Tailgate is opening and closing and opening and closing all on its own. This is safety hazard when towing or cargo could fall out onto the highway.

Tale gate opens and closes by itself. Keeps saying tale gate is open but is closed

The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle downshifted from 8th to 7th gear or from 8th to 6th gear, and the wheels locked up, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. The contact stated that the safety risk was more severe while towing a trailer because the failure caused the trailer to fishtail while driving. The contact stated that he had pulled to the side of the road on one occasion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: 21-NA-275. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.

Factory LED headlamp was flashing rapidly like a strobe light intermittently before it failed. The lights are bright enought that it was not immediately obvious to me (the driver) that anything was amiss. Was noticeable when close to other vehicles in traffic and on open, dark roads, where the strobing affect as apparent on reflective signs. The unit later failed completely and is now backordered and so unavailable to replace. I'm forced to drive with no headlight. The unit was faulty and suffered from water intrusion, which was determined to be the cause of the failure by the dealership. The failure occurred less than three years after the vehicle was placed into service, though it could not be taken in for service until a week after warranty expired. It is not covered by any warranty, though headlights are typically a wear item and expected to be readily replaceable. Dealer-quote cost to repair is $2,300, making the repair to be likely inaccessible to many owners. I have a video of the offensive behavior.

The transmission fluid line that goes from the radiator to the cooler came apart at the crimp were the rubber and metal tube connect, this allowed all the transmission fluid to spray all over the motor while driving and leaving us stranded.

While driving down the road at 40mph the crimp connection for the transmission cooling line came apart and spilled all my transmission fluid out the power hose and left me stranded in the middle of the road.

Having issues with “Service Trailer Brake System “ , this should be a safety concern for GM , and not up to the customer to pay for this repair.
