2024 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 Complaints

Rear view camera doesn’t display an image in reverse at night. Many reported issues online with Chevrolet and GMC vehicles, model years 2024 and 2025.

I was towing a dump trailer with gravel in it down a gravel road grade (downhill around 5-7mph) and received a warning on the DTC about the trailer brake being disconnected. All of the lights on the trailer were still working, however the trailer brakes no longer functioned and all of the braking was transferred to the truck. The trailer slowly pushed the rear end of the truck around causing the vehicle to jackknife and causing significant damage to the bumper and bed. After researching this post incident, there appears to be numerous complaints and TSB from chevy regarding a faulty brake controller when towing a trailer where the voltage can backfeed into the vehicle causing the vehicle brake controller to disable. Currently working with insurance to come up with a damage quote. Bulletin # 23-NA-149

Transmission failure on interstate i90, truck down shifted violently and check engine light came on and warning on dash read speed reduced drive with caution. Took truck to gm dealer on August 1 2024 who said the transmission shift solenoid plate has to be replaced. Gm dealer still has my truck as of October 16 2024 and all I they can tell me is that the part is on back order and they have no idea when it will be available. This could have caused a serious accident as I was also towing a 3500 lb trailer at 65mpg at the time with the speed being reduced so quickly by the failure.

While driving with a trailer connected the display in the truck will say trailer disconnected. Then the light will go away and come back on. The trailer plug and the trailer are connected and the plug is tight. When this happens the trailer braking system is disabled (trailer has no brakes) I can plug the same trailer to Ford or Dodge with no issues. Have had the Chevy to the dealer 4 times now and they are unable to duplicate the problem. I have researched the problem on the internet and there are a lot of discussions of other people having the same issue. GMC has replaced the trailer control module, but this did not fix my problem. I am at the point the dealer and GMC are giving me the run around. I bought this truck for commercial use and frequently haul trailers. It is very unsafe when the brakes on the trailer are disabled.

I would like to report a hazardous issue with the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado trailer braking power mode. The trailer braking system turns on and off when the loaded trailer is connected; this represents a security hazard since this truck is used for work and we move heavy pieces of metal and glass. This issue was reported several times to the dealership Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet in Coconut Creek, FL. Also, the manufacturer provided a letter indicating the replacement of some parts. As indicated, I took the truck to Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet in Coconut Creek, FL, on [XXX] for the corresponding service; however, the truck is still presenting the same issues. We tried different trailers, including a U-Haul trailer, and still had the same dysfunctionality. Please advise how to proceed. The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 used for hauling a 2024 Grand Design RV. The contact stated that on several occasions while towing the trailer, the messages that the "Trailer Brakes Disconnected "and "Trailer Brakes Reconnected" were displayed but disappeared every 5 minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact decelerated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000.

After a rain storm the tailgate started malfunctioning. Now it does it all the time even on pure sunny days. It will go up and down randomly without anyone touching a button. It does it so much it drained both batteries, which left the truck inoperable. The dealer said it’s not under the recall that’s out for other trucks and to just bring it up for repair.

Tires lt275/65r20 is the size. I purchased my truck Oct 2023. The day after i got home. I noticed a bulge in the sidewall of the front tire. I took it to the dealer the next day and they replaced it. But not after they accused me of hitting something. Luckily i had the picture the salesman had sent prior to me purchasing the truck and it was visible there. So a few weeks noticed 2 tires had same problem. Dealer again tried to say it was caused by an impact. They would not replace. so i called goodyear who had no problem replacing them at Belle tire. This past sunday, same tires that were replaced had a bulging in the side walls again! Belle tire replaced AGAIN under goodyear warranty but with 2 different good year tires. So I don't know if this is a good year defect or wrong tire being sold for these large trucks. The safety of my family is important to me, and these tires problems are scary. I purchased this truck from Hubler Chevrolet in Indianapolis.

AC will not run while truck is in idle. I was told by the dealer all GM trucks with the 6.6 gasoline engine this is a standard on them. this is a major safety issue when it becomes 100 F outside.
