2015 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN Complaints

While putting car in reverse brake pedal goes stiff and brakes do not function. I would have to take car out of gear to be able to control it. Also happened on highway going forward once but at low speed. Looked online and saw recalls listed but my vin is not in recall. Dealer says they dont know whats wrong and they have another car there with same problem and they cant figure it out and engineers from Chevrolet do not know why it happens. They have told me it could take days of testing at my expense to figure out the problem and my cost to repair their potentially deadly manufacturing defect.

On August 21, 2021 My Daughter [XXX], husband [XXX] and myself was in a car accident on the 495 beltway in PG County, Maryland. We where hit from the rear back side (fishtail) on the passenger of vehicle which caused the vehicle to spin across all 4 lanes and hit the guardrail.. The impact caused all of us to be locked inside the vehicle in which I had to physically kick my door open from the inside because I was unable to get out. I was able to get out and go to my husband side (drivers side) because he was bleeding from his head, I had to forcefully pull and pull to open his door because it was also jammed and wouldn’t open. Same for my daughters side(passenger rear).. The entire front of the truck was pushed back, doors, front and back of the vehicle was badly damaged and NOT ONE AIRBAG DEPLOYED.. NOT ONE. My husband was the driver and sustained head injuries with head bleeding and was transported via ambulance to NOVA Fairfax County Hospital. My daughter was transported via ambulance to Washington Hospital Trauma Center. I went to Washington Hospital Center ER but was unable to stay and went to Kaiser Permanente Urgent Care once my daughter was discharged from the Trauma Side of the hospital that night. Geico has determined that the truck is a totally lost and that the damages thus far have exceeded $30,000 but waiting on final approvals of Numbers. We do have a police report. To answer the question above. The airbags failed to deploy in the accident. We could have died. My husband had to get staples in his head and disk are messed up in his back. There where no warnings on the dash board before the crash. The vehicle has been inspected by the insurance company and the police on the scene. Due to a faulty design, the fuel feed line (GM part # 84200271) has been worn through from vibration resulting in a pin hole in the line at the point where the fuel line is seated in the molded-in clip retainer of the fuel tank. This wear has resulted in raw fuel pouring over the top of the fuel tank and producing a significant risk to life and health from fire and inhalation. The fumes from the raw fuel could be smelled through the A/C vents while driving highway speed (inhalation hazard). Once the vehicle is turned off the fuel leak subsides. However, while idling in park the fuel leak would puddle under the vehicle resulting in a significant and potentially catastrophic fire hazard. While researching the symptoms of my issue, I discovered many complaints of the exact symptoms and findings that I have discovered. I spoke over the phone with a service department employee of a local GM dealership who denied having addressed this issue on other vehicles similar to mine (2015 Suburban LT). I will bring the worn-through fuel feed line to this same dealership to inquire about possible mitigation for this known issue (See service bulletin 17-NA-304). The symptoms that I first noticed were a hard start and the smell of raw fuel in and around the vehicle. No check engine light or other warning messages were displayed to alert me of this failure.

Over 600 miles from home. Started vehicle and " Service power steering- drive with care" message shows. No power steering. Recall performed previously. Attempted to drive. Within 15 miles power steering came back while traveling 55 mph. The next morning in the rain a repeat. This is a very heavy vehicle with 6 passengers. Hard enough to maneuver with power steering on bag roads. GM knows there is a problem but like most big companies, they pay off people to avoid fixing issues. Search online and see.

Hello, While driving my Chevy suburban last week as I was pumping gas with my two year old son in the back seat. I saw smoke leaking and rolling out from the bottom of my vehicle. I had shift the vehicle off and inspected thoroughly. I couldn’t see and understand where this was coming from. It wasn’t the engine block and no check engine lights had come on. So I let the vehicle cool and started her up. No issue until I was a mile or two from my family summer rental and all of a sudden the vehicle felt as though it slipped out of gear. I was left without any power and realized I was smoking again. I pulled or what I would call drifted to the break down lane and pulled my little man out of the vehicle. This happened on Saturday and after almost a week in the shop, the dealership sprung me a nice $5200 price for a transmission. I am now looking and seeing two different recalls for this vehicle. Ironically the these two issues look exactly like the two recalls they have for the power train. This car was covered by NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000. The repair was completed by the Chevrolet Dealer. The problem has returned and is even more prevalent than before the recall. Bottom line, this repair did NOT fix the issue and this has become a serious safety issue. This is a dangerous situation and someone is going to get injured if Chevrolet does NOT properly fix this issue.

We had just completed a 1,000 mile trip for a family emergency. When we arrived at our destination, we found that somewhere during the last 500 miles of the trip, we had developed a fuel leak. After removing the fuel tank, my husband discovered a break in the fuel feed hose, as well as several worn spots in the line and on the top of the fuel tank. We were traveling in 100 degree weather, and I am just thankful at this point that the Suburban did not catch on fire!

The contact stated while attempting to secure the driver’s side seat belt, the seat belt pre-tensioner failed and fractured at the base and failed to securely latch. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

We experienced a massive fuel leak from the top of the fuel tank. The car was still able to run, but there was fuel draining all over the place around the bottom of the car. My wife drove the car with our four kids in it for about 50 miles before we knew what was going on.

Bystanders assisted the contact in pushing the vehicle to a safe area. The contact stated that he waited for approximately five minutes before restarting the vehicle and continued driving to his residence. The failure recurred and the process was repeated several times before arriving at his residence. The contact stated that an independent mechanic arrived at his residence and informed him that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
