2023 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500- Grand Prairie, TX
At approximately 24,000 miles the engine had catastrophic failure under normal street/highway driving conditions. The engine is the 6.2L V8. The issue began with a high pitch squeal or chirping sound and noticeable power loss. I parked the truck over night and then drove it to the dealer first thing the next morning. While on the way to the dealership, which was less than 20 miles away, the engine began having much bigger issues. A loud knocking noise was apparent and the rear end began locking up causing the tires to also lock up. Once at the dealership the engine completely failed and locked up. The engine did have the newly recommended 0W-40 oil installed prior to the failure.

2021 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500- Battle creek, MI
When i first purchased the vehicle off the lot a few years back (its a 21, so probably in 22?) Brand new off the lot minimal miles. Within the first few months we started having issues with the power wanting to shift down. We took it in, the dealership found nothing wrong with it and cleared the codes. This happened a few more times. The last 2 times I took it in. They mentioned that there were recalls on it and could possibly be causing the issue. Took care of that (last august- have docs. to prove it as along with what they did and what we stated). Fast forward now 2 months ago (April of 25) and it starts acting up again and wants to downshift, shifting hard, stuttering and not wanting to drive, the same things we have been complaining about since beginning with lights on etc. However, this time we tried to shut it off and give some down time to get back home. After about 10 mins, we went to start the truck to get it home, and it would not start. We had it towed to the dealership. Once they got it, after 2 weeks of waiting we were finally presented with, the starter went out and the wiring box needed to be replaced (this has to be done before they can look into the original problem again) (because without those 2 things fixed, they wont be able to do) it is now June. I took the vehicle home, due to not having funds to fix right away. After doing some research and some digging, it would appear that the issues that we are having with the truck are issues that are already being recalled on this specific truck and model. However, for mine it is not, because I have the 2.7 l turbo and not the 6.8. THere have been numerous complaints about the known issue.(which i found out is the other wiring by the engine that is being chafed which is causing the wires to break and causing the other box and alternator to go and be replaced). If you replace it fries all again. Why is the 2.6 engine problem thats reported not recalled but rest is and it is known. I also see this online

NHTSA Defect Report (Initial Portal Filing) Manufacturer Target: General Motors (GM) Filer: [XXX] Classification: Mechanical Defect & Administrative Evasion Narrative for Submission I am filing this formal defect report regarding a catastrophic, systemic safety failure present in the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse architecture (VIN: [XXX]), manufactured by General Motors. The vehicle was originally purchased at AutoNation Timonium. THE SAFETY DEFECT AND TELEMETRY PROOF On March 18, 2026, the vehicle suffered a total failure of the transmission and drivetrain systems. It was immediately surrendered to Preston Chevrolet, where it remained completely out of service for 34 consecutive days. GM's own OnStar Diagnostic Telemetry automatically dispatched critical fault alerts while the vehicle was stranded, explicitly logging the following irrefutable failure codes: DTC U1962 (PCM - Engine and Transmission System): Warning stated: "System transferring power to the drive wheels not performing as expected." This indicates a catastrophic decoupling or failure to transfer motive power. If this failure occurs at highway speeds, it results in a total loss of propulsion, creating an extreme rear-end collision hazard. DTC U0452 (VIU - OnStar System): A simultaneous failure in the Wireless Communication and Safety system, meaning that when the drivetrain catastrophically fails, the vehicle's automated emergency SOS and crash-reporting telemetry is actively blocked or compromised. ELEVATION TO ADMINISTRATIVE EVASION General Motors and its authorized dealer network were provided with formal written notice of this defect. The 30-day statutory right to cure window fully expired without any mechanical resolution. Rather than deploying engineering solutions to rectify the severe safety defects they released into the public domain, GM has instead deployed aggressive legal maneuvers designed to evade accountability.
