2023 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500- Loveland, OH
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Engine seized and vehicle was towed to dealership. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Loss of propulstion, described below. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, dealership where originally purchased. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Inspected at dealership by GM/Chevrolet technician. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? None prior to failure Detailed description: On 5/21/2026, during normal driving, the engine in my truck lost propulsion due to a major internal failure. This is a 2023 General Motors 6.2L (L87) engine that was inspected at the dealership where it was originally purchased for the previously issued NHTSA "loss of propulsion" recall and passed without any noted issues. This engine only has ~20,000 miles on it. The engine failed in relatively heavy traffic and could have easily resulted in a serious accident due to inability to route my vehicle to a safe area while under power. This all happened without any prior warning, no check engine lights, noises or lamps or symptoms. The dash simply illuminated with a "Press Start" message. The truck was towed to the dealer for evaluation. The dealer called me today (5/26/2026) stating the engine was seized and a new engine would have to be ordered from GM for installation. This event occurred while the vehicle (2023 Silverado ZR2) is still under the original 36 month/36,000 mile warranty.

2015 CHEVROLET IMPALA- Flomaton , AL
I have always kept my Impala in my garage until recently I started keeping my grandson a few days a week. When I am at that home my car is parked in a driveway open to the elements. About a month after starting I notice that my car started having what I would describe as an electronic issue. The seat belt alarm would go off without me ever touching my seat belt. I have also had to replace my tail lights in my vehicle twice since this started. Then when I packed for a trip yesterday I noticed an awful smell in my trunk. I could not find the source, so I took everything out of my trunk and opened the spare tire compartment which was completely filled with water! I found a Product Bulletin on this. Chevrolet #14047. But it is NOT A RECALL. WHY IS THAT? IT IS CLEARLY AN ERROR ON THEIR PART! CAN YOU EXPLAIN PLEASE?

2020 CHEVROLET EQUINOX- LE CENTER, MN
While driving, the vehicle experienced an almost total loss of braking capability. The pedal was very hard to press, and when pressing with all my weight, I could slow the vehicle to a stop, but it took a great distance. There was no warning or malfunction indicator until I pulled into a parking lot a few minutes later. At that point, a "Service Brake Assist" message appeared. Had I been in traffic, going faster, or in an area with pedestrian crossings, this could have caused a possibly deadly crash. I searched online and found that there is a vacuum pump that is known to fail on this vehicle, and can cause these symptoms. Upon replacing this vacuum pump, the issue was resolved. I still have the failed vacuum pump.

2023 CHEVROLET TAHOE- Chantilly, VA
While traveling at 55mph yesterday, I experienced a full engine failure which shut the car off fully while traveling on a single lane double yellow road. I was able to coast to a secure location. The car will not start or go into neutral. There were no warning lights that occurred at any time prior to the failure. This all occurred while on vacation 2 hours away. I previously went to the dealership for the recommended "fix" for the recall but that obviously did not solve the problem. This was an extremely unsafe situation for me and my family. I also encountered towing costs and significant loss of time. In addition, the car is at a dealership over 2 hours from my home. Chevrolet should be held accountable well beyond a recall notice which didnt solve the problem.

2015 CHEVROLET TAHOE- Birmingham, AL
The contact owned a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and stated that while driving, the vehicle's doors locked and unlocked randomly, the cabin lights flickered, and the doors failed to unlock properly during entry attempts, while the radio randomly selected its own options and the touchscreen occasionally stopped working despite the alternator and battery being replaced. Furthermore, the vehicle suddenly and randomly lost motive power and shut off on main roads, highways, and at stop signs, which caused the dashboard to flash on and off and the power steering to fail completely. When attempting to turn off the vehicle by twisting the key, it refused to shut down initially and triggered a large engine bay fan to kick on, though replacing the temperature gauges eventually resolved this specific shutdown issue. The vehicle has been taken to multiple dealers and independent mechanics, but was failed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 250,000.
