2019 CHEVROLET EQUINOX- WHITE LAKE, MI
The power liftgate on my 2019 Chevrolet Equinox experienced a sudden mechanical failure without warning. I pushed the automatic liftgate button and the liftgate raised normally. Once raised, the upper mounting bolt securing the power liftgate actuator severed. The actuator broke loose, struck the rear taillight assembly and pushed it outward approximately one inch, and the liftgate came crashing down without warning. My [XXX] grandson was approaching the rear of the vehicle to retrieve his golf clubs. Fortunately, he had not yet reached the area beneath the liftgate when it fell. Had he or another person been standing beneath it, I believe the sudden uncontrolled closing of the liftgate could have caused serious injury. The failure was confirmed during repair by an independent mechanic who is a former GM mechanic. He had considerable difficulty extracting the severed mounting bolt and repaired the actuator/bolt failure at a cost of approximately $400. The mechanic retained the failed parts, including the severed bolt, and they are available for inspection upon request. The actuator also displaced the rear taillight assembly. The mechanic attempted to reseat it, but the taillight still does not sit flush with the vehicle, so damage resulting from the incident remains. The vehicle and failed components have not been inspected by GM, police, or an insurance representative. I reported the incident to General Motors and received a GM case number. GM declined reimbursement because the repair was performed outside a GM dealership. There were no warning lamps, warning messages, or other symptoms that I noticed before the failure. The liftgate appeared to operate normally until the sudden failure.I reported the incident to GM under case #XXX and requested the case be reopened because the taillight remains displaced and does not sit flush. The failed parts, including the severed bolt, were retained by my mechanic and are available for inspection. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA),

At 12,000 miles a lifter malfunctioned. It was repaired by my local Chevrolet dealership by replacing lifters on one side of the engine. The delearship also changed the viscosity of the oil. At 64,000 miles roughly another lifter malfunctioned and needed replacing. Had I been on the highway at the time of failure it could have posed a risk for the safety of my family and others on the road. Each time the check light was flashing at the time of the incident.

2023 CHEVROLET BLAZER- Arlington, TX
Multiple warning lights on the vehicle stating the ABS brake system was not functioning, the letters brake showed by the gauges but it was not the parking brake because I put that on to check it and it was a different warning light. The lane assist was not functioning. In January I had the brakes looked at because they are squealing anytime you use them. The brake shop I took it to told me this is a known issue and the brakes are fine and that there was no way to stop the squealing because my brakes still had 80% of their pad. On multiple occasions when I’ve need to brake hard quickly the car had felt like it was shaking and the brakes didn’t feel like they were catching. Vehicle is currently at Vandergriff Chevrolet in Arlington Texas and has been there since August 25th.

A mismatched gear indicator where the dashboard shows "Park" but the transmission is actually in "Reverse" is dangerous that creates a severe rollaway risk. When this first happened I pulled into my garage and put the car into park and took my foot off brake and with out me realizing the car was moving backwards I nearly ran over someone. Could've been very serious.I had the vehicle inspected at the dealer and told them this is serious safety issue, they said they could do nothing about it because the car was no longer under warranty. the car has about 14000 miles on it.

2021 CHEVROLET TAHOE- Meridian, ID
My vehicle had a pop and loss of power on the highway. After pulling over, I did not have a check engine light but did connect my code reader and found a P308. I felt unsafe to drive so I had it towed to a shop. I later found out the DOD system or lifter on valve #8 has failed and needs replacement. Factory recommends oil change at every 7k miles, I did them at 4K. My oil pressure was up to par with the small window of real time allowable oil pressure. The design was great on paper but one of the worst engines GM has ever made. I sincerely hope there is enough people complaining about these 2021 GM 6.2 & 5.3 engines!!

2024 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500- Coleman, MI
In reference to 2024 Chevrolet pickup, 6.2L engine, 10 speed transmission. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I believe the transmission is going into "partial lock-up" at full/highway speed. When traveling on highway with cruise control engaged, the vehicle suddenly acts as though the brakes are being strongly applied, slowing the vehicle at a very rapid rate, down as low as about 40 MPH. The vehicle slows quickly enough that the driver and passengers are thrown forward to the extent allowed by the seat/safety belts. The issue terminates itself at various times. The vehicle has been inspected by GM mechanics several times, but they cannot find the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages, service engine lights, etc. This has occurred on at least five (5) different occasions. The first occasion was at approximately 7000 odometer miles. The vehicle now has 25,100 miles. All incidents have been reported to GM dealership mechanics.
