    - Hedgesville, WV

The camera system—including the backup cameras when you put it in reverse— more often than not produce an error on the display screen instead of a view of the rear rendering this mandated safety device unusable. It is available for inspection. The rear view camera is a mandated safety device required on all passenger vehicles. Not having it available makes it much easier to back into other vehicles or pedestrians walking behind the vehicle. This is a reproducible issue. It was inspected by a dealer and a problem was confirmed. It was repaired with a new module under warranty. Three months after the repair, the issue has reoccurred and the vehicle is no longer under warranty. The repair from the dealer did not fix the issue. It has not been inspected by anyone other than the dealer. There is no warning prior to the issue occurring. The only warning is a crossed out camera as the error occurs. An internet search shows this is a very common issue with this vehicle.

Ever since we’ve had the 2019 Chevrolet equinox which was purchased in 2019 from Capital Chevrolet in Montgomery, Alabama, the seats and the side mirrors both will not stay programmed. The dealership kept telling us there was nothing wrong and kept telling us how to program the seats and the side mirrors, per key fob. This was done over and over and still did not work. every time the vehicle is cut off and when the vehicle is re-entered we have to reset the side mirrors and seats every single time. The vehicle is no longer under warranty, but we were wondering if there would be any way to have it fixed free of charge. Or if you have any idea on what we can do to make the settings work properly. Please advise. I have listed below my email address, my cell phone, and my home number. 2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD purchased new. Vehicle did not include a complete owners manual only a brief description of vehicle. Many safety issues were left out such as maintenance schedules that could affect performance and safety over the life of the vehicle. another issue that was omitted was the operation of the automatic tailgate that was involved in a previous recall. I contacted Chevrolet and asked for the complete version of the owners manual and was told the the incomplete manual was all that was included in the purchase of a $72,000 truck. I was directed to a third party which offered the complete manual for $94.00 which included $32.00 shipping and handling. Book rate shipping is $5.95. For an automaker to excessivey profit from a safety problem is inexcusable and a danger to the public.

2024 Chevrolet 2500 HD purchased new. Delivered with missing capless fuel adapter. Pointed out missing capless adapter defect to Chevrolet dealer. Dealer refused to correct defect. When the vehicle ran out of fuel on busy roadway a large quanity of fuel splashed on the owner, the vehicle and the road creating the potential risk of serious fire, injury and environmental hazard. Owner had to purchase the capless adapter from the dealer service department when #1 it should have been included with vehicle purchase #2 Dealer should have corrected this serious safety issue when customer brought it to their attention.

  • 2017 CHEVROLET VOLT
    - OAK PARK, IL

The BECM (Battery Energy Control Module) failed. The vehicle illuminated the MIL and the driver display to show a "Reduced power". When restarted, the display showed "shift to park", which I did several times. After a couple of restarts it displayed the "Reduced power" message, but would not go into drive. THE MIL was illuminated the entire time. Through numerous key cycles I got the VIN operable and took it to the dealer for repair. The BECM part is at the dealer or on its way back to GM as a core return. While this occurred while I was leaving my garage, it could have occurred in traffic, which would put me or others at risk. The problem was investigated by my local dealer (Currie Chevrolet in Forest Park, IL) and it was determined to be both a bad Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) and a bad shifter assembly. The shifter had been replaced (or repaired?) for an earlier Shift to Park failure per TSB 23-NA-119. The dealer kept the BECM as a core. I have pictures of the core. The dealer or GM should have that core. The above described warning lamps and messages and systems first appeared at the time of the event that lead me to take it other dealer ASAP. Note the condition and model year is described in GM special coverage letter "N232432680 Battery Energy Control Module Malfunction". NHTSA investigation PE23022 lead to this coverage letter. Per GM, while my vehicle experienced the conditions and is in the model year coverage of the letter, its VIN is not covered. I think NHTSA should re-open the investigation and consider a recall. There could be other VINS susceptible this failure condition. There could be operators of those VINs who cannot afford the expense (~$3000 or more) or downtime of the repair, and will keep operating the vehicle, putting people at risk again. If a recall is not supportable, I'd request that the VIN list be expanded to cover all possible defective BECMs.

  • 2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500
    - Lawrence, MA

While merging onto another highway at normal traffic speed, I pressed the accelerator to safely increase speed and merge with traffic. At that moment, I heard a loud bang coming from the front engine bay. Immediately afterward, the vehicle began making loud rattling noises, multiple warning lights illuminated on the dashboard, and the vehicle rapidly lost power. The car began decelerating while still on the highway, creating a dangerous situation. I was unable to maintain speed with surrounding traffic. Had another vehicle been approaching at a higher speed, this sudden loss of power could have resulted in a serious accident. The vehicle was later inspected by a Chevrolet dealership, which confirmed that the engine failed at approximately 77,000 miles. The dealer stated that the engine lifters failed and caused damage to the camshaft, resulting in complete engine failure. This failure occurred without warning and while the vehicle was in motion, presenting a serious safety risk. A sudden engine power loss at highway speeds significantly increases the risk of a collision. I am concerned this may be a defect affecting other vehicles as well.

My truck tires were bought at Costco in 2015 and had 70k Warranty or 6yrs WCF. My added truck mileage since then is 12k miles. I discovered my driver rear passenger tire go flat . I put the spare and took it to Costco for repair. Costco informed me that this is a tire defect as the tire had a side wall perforation. Tire cannot be repaired and a new replacement is required. I looked up Michelin tire recalls and found one issued in 2013 about Michelin X-Radial tires discussing this same defect but it did not include my tire size ( P245/70R17 ) . Fortunately this incident did not occur while driving at high speed.
