I parked my 2022 Coachman Nova 20C at the Scenic Overlook on [XXX] at approx 11:15 AM. As I opened the right side sliding door, the CAREFREE, Freedom RM, awning spontaneously extended. The Firefly touchpad next to the door was unresponsive to retracting touch command. Once extended, no attempt to retract the awning myself was effective. No warning of the status of the awning was given. A warning is only given when keys are in the ignition which was not the case. The wind at the overlook caught the awning tossing it up over the vehicle, causing bolts to pop loose. To prevent the awning from flying into passing traffic or scenic spectators in the parking lot, I used a kitchen knife to cut long slits in the fabric to relieve leverage affect of the wind on the awning. Truly, a local mechanic arrived with his truck and ratchet straps. We managed to cut away the fabric from the aluminum frame, pull the structure closed and secured it with ratchet straps. Once secured, I removed the awning fuse. This occurred on Memorial Day when dealership offices and usual means of assistance were not available. I, the complainant, own a 2018 Coachmen Galleria, a recreational vehicle (RV) outfitted on a 2017 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 3500 van. Coachmen Galleria outfitted the van with a water tank, attached to the underside. On 7/28/2023, while driving approx. 25 mph, I had to brake abruptly, due to an animal crossing the road. I then heard a sound coming from underneath the RV and a scraping noise when I took my foot off the brake. I discovered that the water tank had fallen to the ground. I took the RV to an independent mechanic, and the water tank was firmly re-attached. Below, I will cover very briefly the form questions: * The water tank collapsed to the ground due to inadequate support. Coachmen Galleria apparently MODIFIED its post-2018 vehicles outfitted with the same water tanks-- but with NO NOTICE to 2018 owners. * Safety is indisputably at stake when a water tank collapses to the ground while driving. That collapse OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES, involving 2018 owners if not other model years. See two other complaints: NHTSA ID # 11491660 (10/23/2022) and ID # 11542381 (9/3/2023). In addition, several Galleria owners have posted to a Facebook group about the recurring problem, with a STRONG CONSENSUS: Coachmen Galleria did not adequately support its water tank. At least 2-3 other 2018 owners have had collapses. INJURIES OR WORSE may occur, unless NHTSA compels remediation. * The problem has been clearly confirmed by Facebook group posts and obviously by the incidents themselves. * My vehicle was inspected by a mechanic who re-attached the water tank with strong supports. * No prior warnings or symptoms. Coachmen Galleria's customer service reps tried disingenuously to conflate general advice about water contributing to vehicle weight with the ABSENCE of any advice or warning about water tanks on 2018s. They refuse to acknowledge the defect and blame the owners. I plan to send additional information ( Facebook posts + emails). Thanks for attention. Coachmen Galleria is a class B motorhome equipped with a 30 gallon freshwater tank that is mount to the underside of the vehicle on the driver side. the tank is made of plastic and held in place by a metal frame and the frame is bolted in place to the frame in the front and the back. two bolts in front and 2 bolts on back. As a was driving the vehicle. the 2 front bolts became lose and fell out, allowing the frame and water tank to fall to the pavement on interstate 95 south at a speed of 65 mph! The heavy tank and frame was plowing the asphalt along under my vehicle. It could have caused a serious accident!!! I was able to quickly move over to the emergency lane where I was protected by 2 police cars and towed away. My RV dealer indicated it will take 8 hours to dismantle the frame and plumbing and make the repair. I have not yet had it fixed I have heard of this same problem from other Coachmen Galleria owners on the Galleria Facebook page.

This vehicle is the chassis for a 2022 Coachmen Nova RB. When driving down the road, my Carefree van awning rapidly extended about 8-10 ft on its own. Fortunately, I was on my street and able to drive and park in my driveway. There were no other cars close on the road or it could have caused a serious accident or hit a pedestrian walking along the road. The awning would not retract and I had to contact a technician to manually retract the awning, zip tie it to the van and I removed the fuse. This has happened to a multitude of other camper van owners with this chassis. It is a serious issue and I encourage you to investigate this matter before a fatality or serious injury occurs.

Gasoline is leaking from the generator.. Delivery of this brand new unit was taken on 6-28-2023 .. Driven from Jacksonville Fl to my driveway in Mount Dora, FL .. A 2 hour drive .. On Sunday 7-2-2023, my wife started the generator to configure the Wi-Fi .. Fortunately I was standing by the side door and heard a liquid noise from under the vehicle .. Looked under to see and smell gasoline pouring from the generator .. NOT DRIPPING, POURING OUT.. Under pressure .. Using the internet, I found a known NTHSA recall on these models from Cummins ! Forest River was notified .. My model was on the recall , maybe .. Verbally told that on 7-3-2023 .. How this didn’t get fixed or even looked at is unbelievable .. I notified Cummins of this and was told my particular model is NOT part of the recall ?.. However , the leaking of fuel is the exact same problem .. The Coachman is sitting at a Cummins Service Facility in Orlando ..

High altitude power loss. At around 8000' elevation, 60 degrees F. Engine was turned off for around 3 hours, started normally, idle normal, shifted into reverse and there was no power. It barely crept out of level parking place with accelerator floored. Engine continued to run smoothly but no power. I was half in the parking spot, half in the street and couldn't move forward or reverse. No warning lights prior / during / or after the problem. Approximately 4500 miles on van. Note - vehicle put into 4x4 low range in attempt to use the extra gearing to move back into parking lot out of the street - this worked at a very slow pace. After multiple attempts to move, about 5 minutes total - it started making normal power again. Minor versions of this have occurred several times at 5000-10000' in Colorado. Van ran normally once back to lower altitudes.

2018 Coachman Prism 14K miles. I've always had issued maintaining the correct air pressure in my rear tires. On 3/3/23 I took my RV to Discount Tire to have my tires checked. The technician pointed out where the rims were leaking at the welds. This same defect was observed on the wheel next to it. Discount Tires has provided a written statement of their findings. I called the service advisor at my local sprinter dealer; they informed me that this issue would NOT be under warranty. Although my tires appear to be in good condition, the effects of running tires on low pressure could significantly reduce tire life and increase risk to operator and passenger safety. Currently there are 6 Complaints submitted for the same issue. At what point does this get escalated to an investigation?

Front storage bin lid vibrated the latches loose and unlatched, it caught the wind at 60 mph and it broke the lid off flying in to traffic. I believe the sun decomposed the foam insulation making the lid not tight when closed, also the lid I made of cheap plastic which made it easier to brake off its hinges.
