2019 DODGE CHALLENGER Complaints

The power steering or steering rack appears to be defective. While turning on a curve, the steering will get stuck in what feels like a knotch, and can be weird to un-stick from that knotch. Can maybe cause unstable feeling in steering.

The contact's son owns a 2019 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked, and the steering wheel air bags emblem was not illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My 2019 Dodge Challenger GT harness has been compromised. The electrical system in a vehicle, including the headlight circuit, is designed to operate within specific parameters to ensure safety and reliability. When a harness is compromised it can cause an electrical short circuit. In my case, this short circuit is causing a fuse to melt. A fuse is a safety device designed to protect electrical circuits from overheating and potential fires by breaking the circuit when excess current flows through it. When a fuse melts due to an electrical short caused by a faulty harness, it means that excessive current is passing through the circuit. This situation can be dangerous for several reasons 1. This sudden loss of visibility can be hazardous, especially at night or in lowlight conditions, increasing the risk of accidents. 2. Overheating: The excessive current passing through the compromised harness generates heat, often leading to melting or damage to surrounding components. This can potentially cause a fire hazard, posing a serious risk to both vehicle occupants and the car itself. 3. Electrical damage: In addition to the headlights, a compromised harness can affect other electrical components in the affected circuit, such as the turn signals, fog lights, or other lighting systems. It can also damage the vehicle's control modules and wiring, leading to further malfunctions and costly repairs. Replacing the faulty harness is crucial to restore the electrical integrity of the headlight circuit and ensure proper functionality. By replacing the harness, you eliminate the risk of further short circuits, melted fuses, and potential damage to other electrical components. It is essential to address these issues promptly to ensure your safety on the road and prevent any potential accidents caused by reduced visibility or electrical malfunctions.

After I bought the vehicle later I realized the light don’t come on from my steering wheel Air bag. So I took it to the dealership and they told me my air bags doesn’t work.

Was getting on freeway and hit the gas to accelerate and get ahead of the traffic. The Challenger would not accelerate fast (has a hemi) and car almost flew into me. Started testing the vehicle and it just wouldn't accelerate fast, it was stall slowly and pickup speed over 30 seconds or so. I brought it in to one shop and they said its probably a software update and to take it to Dodge and it should be free. Dodge told me it's probably not software, kept my car for 5 days and told me it was a software update and that they updated it for free but still charged me $175 for the "diagnosis" when I told them exactly what the issue was. And now that I got it back, it gets stuck in reverse, you have to turn the vehcile off and wait and start it again then it works. At a red light turn yesterday, it wouldn't drive forward and the "D" for drive started flashing.

the lower control arm and lower ball joint broke causing me to hit another vehicle ,plus had to be towed due to damage , highway patrol called and took a report, was inspected my insurance adjuster after the accident this part would have broke while driving and caused more damage or injuries to me or my wife, the rack and pinion still needs to be replaced and is on back order until further notice no date given when it will be in by the dealership

The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Challenger equipped with Goodyear tires. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, the air pressure warning light would illuminate. The contact mentioned that there was an abnormal rubbing sound coming from the tires while turning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the inside of the front driver’s side tire was worn. The tire was the original tire. The tire was replaced however, a few months later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic where it was diagnosed that the front passenger’s side tire needed to be replaced from also being worn. The tire was replaced but a few weeks later the failure recurred. The failure recurred multiple times and only the front tires were replaced after each failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

Key Fob to start vehicle ran out of battery, I then replaced the battery from a nearby CVS Store and the Key Fob is still not working and my car will not start due to my key fob not being detected.

I bought this certified pre-owned vehicle from a local FCA/Dodge dealer on 10/09/2021. The vehicle began exhibiting erratic and dangerous steering behavior, so I brought it to the dealer on 10/26/2021.The dealer was able to reproduce the erratic behavior. They replaced the electronic power steering gear, the rack and pinion gear, inspected the entire vehicle and did not find anything else wrong, see attached service order. However, the steering continues to be erratic and the vehicle cannot be safely controlled. I notified the dealer of the continuing issues, but they said the could not do anything else to remedy the problem.

The contact owns a 2019 Dodge Challenger. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound when the steering wheel was turned. The instrument panel would also get very hot. Additionally, the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the driver’s and passenger’s side tires were worn due to steering knuckle, causing tire damage. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not under recalls. The dealer diagnosed that the instrument panel overheated and burnt the connecting wires. The instrument panel was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was relating the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V758000 (Service Brakes, Tires, Wheels). The failure mileage was 40,000.
