  • 2018 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN
    - Stamford, CT

The passenger sliding door on the driver's side is stuck in the lock position and cannot unlock the door. Other doors need to be utilized to exit the vehicle and this poses a safety concern. I read many forums where this seems to be an issue with Dodge Caravans and should be a recall as it is known to be faulty. Contacted dealership and they want to charge over $600 to fix but this should be covered by Dodge and should be recalled as this poses a safety concern.

The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal was soft, and the vehicle made an abnormal grinding sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was determined that the failure might be related to the ABS module. The driver's side sliding door will not unlock or open. It was working previously without any problems and now it will no longer open remotely or manually. This is very unsafe for my passengers since they would be trapped inside the vehicle in an emergency or accident situation. I am aware of this being an ongoing problem with the Dodge Caravan Lock Actuator and that a recall was issued for 2015-2017 models. This recall needs to be expanded to include all years from 2018-2020 as it is the same faulty Lock Actuator problem. There is also a class action lawsuit regarding the faulty Lock Actuators. Please put pressure on FCA US, LLC to expand the recall and fix all of their faulty Lock Actuators. Thank you.

    - Kearney, NE

The TCM needed to be replaced, it would flash service transmission on the dash and then say "shift into neutral and then drive or reverse" when attempting to shift it says "gear not available." There is a recall on other cars for this exact reason but my vin number was not included. It would lock up in the middle of the road or when in park. It endangered not only my life but also any passengers. there were no symptoms prior and it started around June 6th, 2024. After replacing the TCM my car had to go into a full sleep cycle before the message would stop appearing. The vehicle was serviced at Midway Auto in Kearney Nebraska, where they also replaced my shifting cable bushing due to another recall that did affect my vin number at the time that it started displaying the message. The dealership has already replaced the TCM and expects me to pay for it even though this is a well know common issue in these cars, so we'll know in fact that there is its own recall that for some reason does not apply to my specific vehicle and I would like to know why, especially if it is a manufactured defect.

  • 2005 DODGE MAGNUM
    - Las Vegas, NV

I have an 05 Dodge Magnum RT 5.7L Hemi, that intermittently stalls after filling the gas tank, and continues to do this until gas goes down a little. After dealing with/living with this problem for a while, I finally took my car to a shop and told them what was happening. They told me I needed to replace the right fuel pump module, which I did. This was 02/19/2016, at a cost of $287.94. The car had78,728 miles on the vehicle at this time. This did not fix the problem. I told the shop this, and I was told they couldn't find any other problem. After which I learned to live with it by not filling the tank up all they way. Recently I was not paying close enough attention when putting gas in, because I was washing my windshield. The car filled up until the pump clicked off. Upon leaving the gas station in morning rush hour traffic, my car immediately stalled. I was nearly rear ended. it took about 10 to 15 seconds to restart it. I was able to make the next green light to merge onto freeway, so I didn't need to slow down. (I should mention that the stalls only occur at slow speeds and stops, after the car has been filled with gas.) I had to slow way down to merge, and my car again stalled. I finally go it to start again only to have this happen 6 more times in stop and go traffic in 1 mile! Even though I was able to get to the right shoulder of the freeway until I could turn off, I caused major traffic delays. After telling a a co-worker about this, he told me he has the exact same car, which had the exact same problem. He then informed me there was an lifetime warranty to fix this problem, and his was fixed under this warranty a couple of months ago. I have found information regarding this warranty on-line, but nothing comes up when I enter my vin, even though it is the exact same year, make, and model of all the other cars that were fixed. I keep my car in top shape. It has no other issues than this...and I have been dealing with it since 2015!

Since we purchased the vehicle in 2019 the backup camera would spoetacticly stop working (black screen with a camera and line through it) or have the camera image upside down.. When we took it into our local dealer, they said it was a software issue updated and said it was fixed.... But we've still have the issue and now they say the camera is faulty and want us to pay out of pocket for a replacement as well as the work and all else... This is a major safety issue and been plaguing Dodge vehicles.
