Truck console shifter lever was shifted in Neutral. The automatic return to park feature was engaged by opening the driver door while the vehicle was stopped. The dash indicates the vehicle was in park but the shifter was stuck in the Neutral position. A tow truck was necessary because the shift lever would not return to the park position, and control of the shift lever is necessary in order to use the neutral over ride feature of the truck.
