2017 FORD F-250 SD Complaints

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed that the EGR valve was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact indicated that while the EGR valve was being replaced, the bolts connecting the EGR valve to the exhaust intake fractured and also needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 95,000.

I was travelling back home at about 65mph on the highway in my 2018 ford f250 crew cab and my left front wheel hit a small bump in the road. The whole truck started to shake violently and I couldn't hold the steering wheel as it was also shaking uncontrollably. I thought at first that I had had a puncture but the truck wasn't leaning as such. The wheels where simply shaking from side to side very fast. I hit the hazard lights and gently brakes down to about 30 mph, pulled over to the side of the ride gently to avoid the risk of flipping over and stopped. When I started up again, the wobbling had stopped. I later looked up the.probable cause and learned about the (infamous) death wobble which several people have experienced. It was truly scary as everything was shaking and I couldn't control the steering wheel. If it would have happened on a bend I would have gone straight over and flipped the truck as I wouldn't have been able to slow down in a straight line to stop the wobbling and shaking... This is a very serious issue that needs to be addressed as people will die...

Engine stalls out of nowhere regardless of speed , highway,street,driveway and is now non drivable.

The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with the high-pressure and low-pressure fuel pumps, resulting in damages to the fuel system. The contact was informed that the fuel system needed to be replaced including fuel rail, fuel injectors, and sensors. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V957000 (Fuel System, Diesel), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 200,000.

A message was displayed to reduce the truck speed. Then the speed started to reduce itself, I wasn't able to increase the speed. I was on a Hwy and the speed limit was 65 mph and on a slight hill the trucks speed was only 39 mph. I put the flashers on hoping to alert the cars passing me that I had a problem. Then the engine died so I steered it over to the side of the road. I tried to re-start it and the truck shook before it died again. I had it towed to a Ford dealer in Boerne, TX. They called me the following day and said the high-pressure fuel pump came apart. They said they saw metal parts in the fuel and their estimate to fit the truck was $18,000! I had it towed to another automotive place, I just needed another opinion. Then I heard about 2 recalls Ford had this year, 1 in January and another just ramping up. The description of the problem sounds exactly like my issue however it didn't cover the 2017 models! I let Chandler Automotive, in Castroville, TX know and they said they would look in to it.

Ford has a problem where the 34 gallon gas tank only reads as a 20-25 gallon gas tank. They have a service bulletin on it and the number for that is 17-0046. After calling multiple dealerships I was told thousands would have to come out of my pocket because of their factory defect. The fix includes replacing the whole fuel tank and also replacing the fuel level sender. My vehicle being within the dates are clearly affected by this defect and I don’t understand why it should be coming out of my pocket. Thank you for your help!

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at speeds over 45 MPH, the vehicle experienced the death wobble. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact slowed down to under 45 MPH, and the vehicle operated as needed. The vehicle was taken to dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering linkage dampener needed to be replaced as part of an unknown Customer Satisfaction Program. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred after one year. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, but the failure was not duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

Fuel pump loses prime at the fuel rail, causing 6.2 gas engines to crank for a long time. Faulty check valve. It seems ford made a revision on the pump and never did a recall.

Nox sensor failure at 43,000 miles. Eventually leads to loss of power and idle only operation of the vehicle. Looking online shows that these fail constantly, many many reports. Same issues with other makes. Mercedes for instance has increased coverage to 15 years or 150,000 miles on their diesels.
