The contact stated that while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle shut off without warning, and lost power. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for an engine replacement. On another occasion while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle shut off without warning and the wheels locked up. The vehicle was towed to GMC of Rochester (4646 E Frontage Rd, Rochester, MN 55901), where a second engine failure was diagnosed and the vehicle was repaired under an extended warranty. Upon retrieving the vehicle, the vehicle was hesitating while depressing the accelerator pedal, with the messages "Reduced Engine Power" and "Check Engine" displayed. While attempting to reverse(R) into a driveway, the vehicle became immobile. The vehicle was towed to Red Wing Chevrolet (2500 US-61, Red Wing, MN 55066), and the technician diagnosed the vehicle with total transmission failure. The contact was informed that there was heavy metal debris inside the transmission pan. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but declined to assist. The vehicle remained with the dealer. My 2022 GMC Sierra started hesitating two weeks ago between the speeds of 17-35 mph. It also hesitates going downhill. When I try to accelerate it hesitates causing a serious safety issue for me driving. I cant trust to move when I need to move across a busy intersection with semi tractor trailers coming at me. I can trust it to tow or haul anything anymore. This is well known and documented problem General Motors has and the company deems it "Normal Operations" which is totally not normal.

A safety call was issued; NHTSA 25V274. GM found my engine needed to be replaced due to the recall. Transwest GMC in [XXX] replaced the engine at no charge in XXX. The new engine they put in, blew up while I was driving. It blew up in June 2026, about 6 months after the replacement was put in. Around 20k miles. Before they would even diagnose the engine failure, they made me provide service records. Which I did and was found to be compliant with their recommendations. They replaced engine again in XXX free of charge. However, now they are telling me that the engine is only covered up until 150,000 miles. At the time of engine failure, I had 127,000 miles on my car. Therefore, I would only have 23,000 miles left of coverage for a brand-new engine they replaced. I am filing a complaint because I am questioning their warranty. I am questing what the warranty is on safety recall. My car is 4 years old, and now I can't rely on it due to mutiple engine failures. It's questionable to me, why they will only cover it to an odometer reading of 150,000 when the engine is brand new. It seems they should cover the part itself for 150,000 miles. Especially when it's a known issue for certain GM motors right now. I am filing a complaint, in hopes that I can prevent someone from getting seriously injured. Also, to protect myself against future engine problems. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

  • 2023 GMC CANYON
    - Santa Clarita, CA

The contact owns a 2023 GMC Canyon. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 50 MPH, the anti-lock braking system, brake warning light, low oil, low fuel, seat belt warning light, parking brake, temperature gauge, forward collision warning, and various other warning lights and messages illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal to the floor; however, the vehicle only decelerated to 15 MPH and failed to come to a complete stop. The instrument panel screen blacked out twice before the vehicle eventually rolled to a stop. The Forward Collision Unavailable warning message and Check Engine light then illuminated. The contact activated the hazard lights and drove at 5 MPH to a nearby parking lot. The contact stated the brakes continued to malfunction, requiring the driver to allow the vehicle to roll to a stop. The dealer was notified of the failure and confirmed there were no open recalls associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000.
