2025 GMC YUKON- Virginia Beach, VA
The wireless charging pad in the vehicle below the climate control system. Yes, it is. The charging component malfunctioned and overheated the back of my phone when it was set in the console while driving. I had no intention of charging my phone, but instead place my phone down while driving. When I picked up my phone at a stop light, I laid it in my inner thigh when the light changed. The burning was so intense and unexpected I swerved into oncoming traffic and lost control, momentarily of the vehicle. I have recreated the incident in a controlled environment myself and the issue is still active. I am happy to have the issue confirmed independently. I gave notice to the dealership after it happened with no concern or further investigation. No, the vehicle has not. No, no warning at all. In fact this is my 3rd GMC Yukon since 2016 and all 3 have had the wireless charging pad, I have had the same phone as my last one. I never had an issue or experienced anything like this.

I own this 21 GMC Sierra with a 6.2L. This vin is not part of your current recall. But my truck is at a dealership waiting on a replacement engine. I was told that the engine locked up in the bay. Not sure if any lights came on before the engine failed, the dealer did not go into that much of detail. The truck is sitting outside waiting on the engine, not sure if gm made then do any failure analysis or just said its a 6.2 were sending an engine.

Took truck in for recall on sept. 19th, it passed and oil was changed per recall. On Nov 1, driving on IH 20. engine oil pressure went to 0 and engine stopped. The dash showed that oil pressure was low and to pull over vehicle. I was going 75 mph at time. Pulled to emergency lane and engine died. Had to tow to dealer. It was very unsafe due to speed and traffic on highway. At no other time was there any indication of engine problem.

2020 GMC ACADIA- Lacon, IL
I own a 2020 GMC Acadia that has experienced multiple major mechanical failures within one year. In January 2025, at around 74,000 miles, the transmission failed completely with no warning or clear indication of what was wrong. The vehicle suddenly lost power while driving, creating a safety risk for me and my child. I was quoted around $12,000 for the transmission replacement initially before getting GM involved. GM covered all but approximately $3,600 out of pocket for me and also covered 100% of the timing cover replacement, which was found to be defective during the same repair. Now, at about 84,000 miles, the thermostat has failed, triggering the check engine light. This repair has not yet been completed and is estimated at around $1,500. My dealership informed me they keep thermostat parts in stock because this failure is so common on Acadias. There were no warning lamps or symptoms before any of these failures occurred. All repairs and diagnostics—including the current issue—were done at the same GMC dealership where I’ve always had my vehicle serviced on time. I’ve been a loyal customer and maintain my vehicle according to the recommended schedule. Despite that, I have faced repeated high-cost repairs on a 5-year-old vehicle with relatively low mileage, which has been financially and emotionally overwhelming—especially as a parent who recently lost employment. Having the transmission, timing cover, and now thermostat all fail in such a short time clearly raises concerns about the reliability, safety, and manufacturing quality of the 2020 GMC Acadia’s powertrain and engine systems. Given that GM has already covered most of the transmission and timing cover repairs and dealerships acknowledge frequent thermostat failures, this appears to be a systemic defect that warrants formal investigation.

2015 GMC CANYON- Santa Cruz, CA
Around ~2017, power steering failed while driving and a safety recall was performed on the torque sensor cover. Later, the whole rack and pinion module was replaced. In ~2025, power steering failed again, and again the whole rack and pinion is getting replaced. Both times the failure occurred on a windy mountain road and was nearly catastrophic.

2025 GMC YUKON- Waterford, WI
My vehicle, with only 2,400 miles on the odometer, has been diagnosed as requiring a full engine replacement. While driving on the interstate, a warning message appeared indicating reduced acceleration. I was able to exit the freeway safely, but the vehicle could no longer maintain adequate speed to match traffic flow. Prior to this, the check engine light came on, but no issues were reported in the vehicle’s status system. I contacted OnStar, and they advised me to take the vehicle to a dealership within seven business days. It has since been at the dealership awaiting parts. Upon further research, I discovered that this issue appears to be widespread. General Motors has issued a technical bulletin addressing the problem, which involves complete engine replacement. Additionally, the audio system intermittently emits a loud crashing noise that is startling and potentially dangerous—it has caused me to veer off the road due to its intensity. This issue also seems to affect other 2025–2026 Yukon and Tahoe models.

2019 GMC SIERRA 1500- Beaver Dams, NY
My truck had a ticking, knocking on the bottom end of the engine as I was driving home with my children. When i pulled into my driveway, the low oil pressure light came on and the truck began to stall while the back of the truck was till in the roadway. Several cars had to come to a complete stop to avoid hitting us, right where my children were seated in the back. I was able to limp the truck into my driveway. The following day I attempted to start the truck. It started hard and immediately gave me a low oil pressure light. I shut the truck off and called the dealership. The dealer wanted $3000 to just diagnose the problem. I had to pay out of pocket to get the truck towed to a private shop. The private shop started the truck and attempted to drive it to reproduce the issue. The truck engine seized and I had to pay to have it towed back to the shop. I then had to purchase a brand new crate engine from GM and pay to have it installed. The seized engine would not even roll over, so the cost of labor was increased due to them not being able to unbolt the torque converter on the engine. My engine is a 6.2l and GM told me based on by truck being a 2019, that it was not included in the recall. So far, the engine replacement has cost me $19,000.

2022 GMC YUKON- Angie, LA
The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH with her family inside the vehicle, there was an abnormal tapping sound coming from the engine compartment, with the traction control and Forward Collision Avoidance warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the "Service ESC", "Forward Collision Avoidance System Unavailable", and "Service Traction Control" flashed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was determined that the gaskets, bolts, rods, lifters, camshaft valve, valve actuator, and engine seals needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
