2014 GMC ACADIA- Canton, OH
Vehicle is randomly stalling or going into limp mode when driving. Has done it in intersections, driving down the hight way and even stopped in a parking lot. No warning but throws codes unrelated to the problem. I’ve been told that it shuts off half of my engine randomly while running and that contributes to the stall. Can cause accident if stalls while turning or even if in wrong lane on high way. You loose all power steering and basically have to coast to safety. Sometimes it re starts some times your stuck there with no reasons for it to not re start. Usually it starts same day when this happens but hours later. Sometimes it stutters and you know it’s coming but not often will you get this warning. I’ve replaced every thing in every code it’s thrown and still can’t go a week without stalling out. Very unsafe for families just trying to go anywhere. Has done in an hour into a trip or three minutes down the road. All weather conditions as well. I’ve had it to two different garages with no luck yet. Have found a bulletin on wiring for the fuse box which seems promising for the issue but am worried about putting more money into something so unreliable. At this point it’s dangerous to drive and is a safety hazard.

2020 GMC YUKON XL- Mequon, WI
We have owned the car for five years. We bought it new in 2020. Now, the engine has completely failed. It has the same problems all the recalled GMC Yukon Denali XL 6.2L V8 engines have; lifters are not functioning, cam shaft is destroyed, rods are bent, oil is pooling and the aluminum engine has melted. The engine light suddenly went off and we didn’t have acceleration. The vehicle started “puttering” and didn’t drive well. No warning at all. This is a known issue with GMC (which I just found out about) and I find it absurd I have to pay $26,000 for a new engine which will most likely have the same problem. Luckily nothing happened, but if that happened on the highway with my wife and three young kids in the car it could have been a nightmare situation.

2021 GMC SIERRA 1500- WATERFORD, MI
DTC CODE P1098 PRESENT RELATED TO FAULTY COOLANT CONTROL VALVE ON 3.0 DURAMAX DIESEL ENGIINE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS ENGINE AND IS SUPPOSED TO BE COVERED UNDER THE 100K MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. PREVIOUSLY TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR INVOLVING REPLACEMENT OF THE COOLANT CONTROL VALVE BUT WAS TOLD REPROGRAMMING OF THE ECM WAS REQUIRED FIRST STEP PER GM REPAIR BULLETIN. REPROGRAMMING COST ME $195 AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE 100K POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. NOW, A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE SAME ISSUE AND DTC CODE P1098 HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND CAUSED VEHICLE COMPUTER TO LIMIT SPEED OF THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSED HAZARDOUS SITUATION IN CONSTRUCTION ZONE AS WAS NOT ABLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED OF TRAFFIC WHILE TOWING TRAILER WITH BOAT. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT GM HAS ISSUED SPECIAL EXTENDED WARRANTY RELATED TO THIS COOLANT CONTROL VALVE IN SEPTEMBER 2025 WHICH EXTENDS THE WARRANTY COVERAGE UP TO 15 YEARS AND/OR UP TO 150K MILES BUT I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY VIN# DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS EXTENDED COVERAGE FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON?
