GMC Complaints

The contact owns a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked while accelerating and while coming to a stop. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but no cause of failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Engine started skipping, then service parking brake light came on, then service engine light came on and speed dropped to 44 mph.

Since purchase there has been a grinding noise when the vehicle is initially started up and put into reverse. I am worried that this is associated with the current engine recall that is on this vehicle. There is an increased risk associated with this vehicle as I am paralyzed and unable to exit the vehicle quickly, which is increased drastically when I have toddler and baby in vehicle. This risk comes from the reported 42 potential fires related to this recall in malfunctioning engines. There have been no warning lamps or indicators that have appeared to date.

The engine cooling control valve malfunctioned while driving and limited acceleration making it hard to move out of the way of driving traffic. The dealer has confirmed all is this and inspected and they are unable to get the part to replace it because of a national bank order. No warning lights until part failure.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the low oil warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 67,600.

Engine has stopped a couple of times at low speeds, Was able to restart and continue. Engine will occasionally make a "straining / Dieseling sputtering sound" when execellerating from low speeds or Stop. Transmission will make strange and strained shifts from time to time. This is reaccruing problem that comes and goes over the last approximately 2 yrs since about 9000 miles to current approx 25000 miles.

The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at speeds of approximately 35 MPH, the transmission shifted abnormally, and the vehicle started vibrating. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at speeds of 65 MPH and higher, the failure worsened. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 146,000.

My GM 6.2L V8 engine has seized in less than 100K Miles. Thankfully not whilst driving and being potentially harmful to myself or others with the catastrophic failure. This problem is being widely report and continually occurring. GM is saying that I am not included in the massive recall for this, However NHTSA notes the vin range as NR and indicates incidents are still occurring. Seems to be a real lemon situation here and even bigger a letdown to uphold consumer safety.
