GMC Complaints

The vehicle main information cluster randomly goes in and out and now has completely stopped working. This is the information display that shows Park, Nuetral, Drive, Reverse, Fuel gauge, digital MPH and other information such as oil tire pressure, turn signals, forward collision. Just knowing if the vehicle is in Park Reverse or Drive is a huge saftey issue. This seems to be a common problem on GM vehicles and i wcan't seem to find a recall issued for the saftey factor that the vehicle can be assumed to be in Park and it's actually in Reverse. The first time I noticed this problem was Sept. 05, 2020 but it had reset when I restarted the vehicle. The problem would resurface occasionally but always came back on when restarting the vehicle. But know it seems that restarting the vehicle is not fixing the problem and the screen has been blank for the last 3 days.

While driving on the highway the engine died forcing me to change lanes to cross traffic and coast to a stop on the shoulder. It was dangerous and unexpected. It would not restart so I had to have it towed. Inspection revealed the bearings had gone bad in the engine and the engine would have to be replaced. I had to wait 2 and half months for an engine.

2019 GMC Sierra AT4 with 6.2L engine failed while driving 45 mph. No warnings and no check engine lights prior to engine failure. Coasted off the road, engine would not restart. Upon attempted restart the check engine light came on showing code P0016 for crankshaft/camshaft position sensor. Towed vehicle to dealership where engine replacement was required.

I have a 2018 GMC Acadia that is now displaying " shift to park " while the vehicle is in park. Upon extensive research I see GMC did issue a recall however, my particular VIN was not included. Its NOW displaying the error message which would lead me to believe it IS part of the recall. I called my local GMC dealership (Langhorne, PA.) and they said this was not covered since my VIN was not issues a recall.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power, with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart but went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the cylinder head had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

Check engine and ECM errors. The dealer replaced one bank lifter. Shortly after, a similar issue was caused by reassembly. Approximate mileage: 30 K. A month later, the same issue, but this time the vehicle was not drivable, with very low engine power. The dealer stated lifter failure and camshaft damage, engine replaced January 2024, mileage 31 K. Currently 42K and had one instance of ECM error, which only lasted a few seconds, but the engine faltered and lost power. At the most recent oil change, the dealer said no error codes were present. GM indicated that my VIN is not covered under the most current recall. Since the engine was replaced in 2024, there is virtually no possibility that the engine replacement was not a new engine and should fall under this most current recall.

PURCHASED A GMC DENALI YUKON ULTIMATE XL JUNE LAST YEAR . 103 THOUSAND. bOUGHT IT IN FOR FIRST OIL CHANGE AT 5500 MILES THE CAR HAS BEEN LEAKING OIL ,TOO, nOW ITS BEEN BACK THREE TIMES AND STILL LEAKI9NG OIL. lAST WEEK BROUGHT IT BACK TOLD SERVICE ADVISOR ITYS LEAKING AT THE OIL PAN BY THE PLU IT DRIPS EVERYNIGHT ON THE FLOOR OF MY GARAGE AND I AM PUT OIL IN IT EVERY TWO WEEKS. aNYWAY THEY SAID THEY DIDD THE DYE TWICW AND DIDNT FIND THE LEAK, I SAID LET ME SHOW THHE MECHANIC THE SPOT IT LEAKS .I WENT IN SHOP UNDER VEHICLE SHOWED THE MECHANIOC HE LOOKS AND SAYS OK NOW I SEE IT ITS NEED A REAR Main seal and oil pan gasket. So now i am bringing it in on the 134th of this month for a repair. The vehicle was made june 20-04 and tullety gmc says my 6.2 is not involved in recall the lady checked her computer.. I would have never bought this vehicle knowing gmc knew they had an iossue with the ngine. My resale value will be hurt big time by all; the negative publicity. I hear they want to put zero 40 thicker oil to patcvh a sick engine ,,thats a band aid on a engine wiith lo0ose clearances. and why is the 2025 6.2 going top keep using zero twenty and not zero 40 oil. I [XXX]i think , this engine in this gmc is noisy in the motrning also when cold . I think i am gettingb a [XXX] story . I only have 13200 miles and the car is still leaking after 3 visits . When in a dark area with little to no lights the backup camera is unusable. The taillights/reverse lights do not put off enough light to provide the camera with the lighting it needs to see behind the vehicle in dark situations. If I am in an urban area with a lot of light pollution the camera works fine, but not when I am in a rural are with no lights.

I just left the gas station from getting a beverage, I got onto the interstate and had gone roughly about 3 miles before setting super cruise a few minutes after that the interstate takes a turn to the left with an exit on the right. Slightly right as I was just getting into the turn my engine shutoff and or died making my truck uncontrollable causing me to drive off the interstate into some small trees between the exit and the interstate. I was not injured and no other vehicles were involved. My truck is currently at the insurances storage yard and they care claiming it to be totaled. I have contacted GM and filled a claim however they are saying they aren’t responsible because the insurance company has my truck. I feel like regardless of who has my vehicle the manufacturer should be responsible if the issue pertains to a specific recall that has already been issued 2 weeks after my accident. I have contacted several lawyers but since I wasn’t injured they aren’t interested in taking my case. My concern is I’m getting screwed over financially because my truck was only a year old and now my insurance is going to be crazy expensive when the manufacturer should be the one taking responsibility for this and not myself.

I was driving on the frontage road that enters the freeway when then engine suddenly failed and stalled. It lost power and seemed like it was misfiring. All the warning lights on the dashboard came on as this happened but there were no warnings lights, messages, or symptoms before this happened. The sudden loss of power posed a risk to my safety because it could have caused a crash or left me stranded. I had my vehicle towed to the Freeway Chevrolet dealer in Chandler, AZ where they inspected the vehicle and confirmed the engine had a camshaft and lifter failure.
