The Vehicles engine siezed at 6,400 miles leaving us stranded on the side of the freeway for 3 hours and GMC is trying to PIN the blame elsewhere. Car has been in the shop for 3 weeks and they are unsure if it will be covered by warranty. The only thing done to the car was an oil change performed at a GMC dealer.

While i was driving a code came on my dashboard that read "Steering assist is reduced drive with care". Soon after my check engine light came on. I pulled over not knowing what was happening. I took it to the garage to have it looked at and the mechanic stated that there are over 1000 gmc customers with this same issue and that the thermostat is stuck open. Which may cause major malfunction or even blow the engine. I looked up recalls for my vehicle and there are none but gmc issued a recall on other vehicles for this same issue. How do I get help here?

Purchase the truck [XXX]. In January of 2025 it started to feel like the engine was slipping. Near the end of February, it was getting worse and the locks started locking/unlocking on their own. The vehicle stalled two separate times while driving on a main road. The first couple days of March, the car stalled, again on the road while the locks went crazy. Then, on [XXX], after I had pulled out of my driveway in my neighborhood, my car completely shut down. We had to have the truck towed to Coyle GMC, in Clarksville, Indiana. And, as of May 1st, it is still there. We have been told they need some cap for the transmission and they don't know when they will get it. They offered to give us a new transmission, but they don't know when they'll get it. I am making car payments on a car that I have not had since May 7th. Unfortunately, because I drive my car for work, it had it's 32000 miles on it, so I can't turn it in for the lemon law. I'm very lucky that my son and I were not injured when the car stalled in the middle of the road. This is an ongoing issue with GMC, and I think it should be illegal that they were selling these trucks. I have a brand new truck that I haven't driven in 2 months. First GMC had my car 6 weeks for a problem with the coolant control valve which failed making the truck underivable. They couldn't fix it due to not being able to get the part with a national backorder. After a few weeks having the truck back I started having erratic bucking and shifting problems and once again the engine light came on and then truck went into limp mode. Felt like the truck got stuck in one gear and was dangerous to drive. I felt unsafe operating it even to limp back to the dealer. The incident with transmission happened at high speed on interstate 95. Kinda scary. They have told me they can't fix my truck for a minimum of 6-8 weeks, but I was told that would be a miracle. So service told me probably be 10-12 weeks if they can't get the parts. If they can!
