GMC Complaints

Coolant Control Valve (ccv) on these vehicles are notorious for breaking down/ becoming non-operative. I have been waiting for a part for months.

I was coming home after work, before I got home I stopped at the gas station to fill up my tank, after I filled up my tank I start driving home but while on my way home my truck wasn’t speed as I expected and it only goes maximum of 10mph and I was confused, I stop and check my truck see what happens but there is no sign since there was no sign I get on my truck and start driving to home, after I got home I was trying to revers parking and that’s when I realized my truck wouldn’t reverse. I thought of if it happened while I was driving on highway and my truck stopped on the middle of highway I could have lost my life. I called the dealer and the dealer told me it might be because of the engine then next day I took it to the shop and they couldn’t figure until couple days later and it took them around 2-3 weeks to replace my transmission. Luckily I had the power train warranty when I bought the vehicle and it don’t cost anything. If I didn’t have that power train warranty everything will come out of my pocket, the cost was around $6-7k.

Power loss at lower gearing speeds and also separator loss of motion when applying gas to make truck move after complete stops. Also blind spot monitoring glitch saying vehicles are beside randomly when no traffic nearby issue to safety by drivability problems and safety components effecting correct monitoring of surroundings.check engine light also has been on more then 2 - 5 times dealer always stating due to sensors in driving components.has been inspected numerous times for similar issues with check engine lights and drive ability issues with loading power random times unsure of where problem exactly resides. Main vehicle for transportation for infant cannot have safety or mechanical issues u resolved but GMC has not corrected this problem at this time and when taking to dealership they asking for charges for inspection of power issues.

Spun main bearing in motor. Motor blown. It is available for inspection. GM mechanic inspected and quoted for new motor. Vehicle shut down going down interstate at 78 mph. No warning.

We NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FYI . This vehicle has been serviced consistently.never an issue. Driving on [XXX] very busy! Truck literally stopped in the middle of the freeway in a very bad location. Desert. Noon. Kids with us. Could have died. Preliminary eval: engine seized, piston rod failure. Not sure the rest - we have to tow it home first. Failed while traveling. Please call for more information if needed. While driving my check engine light came on. Engine was shaking and running awful. Smoke was coming from the tailpipe. Mechanic upon inspection informed me that a lifter had failed. Causing damage to the cylinder head. Also causing the fuel injectors to fail. The cylinder head had to be removed and sent to machine shop for repairs. Mechanic informed me that this is a very common failure for LS motors. Repair bill was $5300 for parts and labor.

6.2L v8 the same as 2021 to 2024 engine built the same way and im experiencing the same issues and the dealership wont fix it , i would like to get a response if this will be included or should i file a lawsuit and take legal action thank you

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

We were on the highway going 65 mph and all a sudden a long bang happened. After that the anti skid light came on causing the truck to drive hard and lack of power. The engine had a sound that didn’t seam right.

While driving down the highway I experienced a sudden lose of power with check engine and other associated warning lights immediately illuminated. It has been confirmed by my independent service center and a GMC dealer that the engine lifters and camshaft failed. I have documentation to prove the vehicle has been traded to a GMC dealer. My safety and the safety of other divers around me was put at risk as I abruptly lost power at highway speeds and this caused traffic around me to slow very quickly and swerve to avoid collision. Serious personal and public injury or death was narrowly avoided due to the quick response of other drivers. I had to limp the vehicle to a safe place to exit the highway and avoid further danger. After speaking with the dealer and my independent maintenance professional I can say that the problem was showing eminent failure, for about a year there was a tik I was hearing that in the past had been described as the "GM TIK" some mechanics said it was normal others said it might be a problem but none of them ever recommended a repair. I believe this is related to the problem reported by my local news agency on 4/30/2025
