2023 GMC SIERRA 1500- Gravette, AR
I left my house & was driving my truck down the highway for about 2.5 miles. All of a sudden the engine locked up & the battery went dead. I barely coasted off the opposite side of the road where the closest side road is & a semi pasted shortly after. I felt very lucky my truck made it off on the side road instead being run over by the semi truck. I then had to call a weaker & have it towed to the local dealership that services GMC trucks. After 4 days I finally got the worst news, the truck needs a new 6.2 engine. My 2023 GMC Sierra AT4 with 38k miles had an engine that locked up & I was flabbergasted. I started searching this issue on the internet & couldn’t believe how common this is & nothing has been done about this. I would assume a recall from GM would be appropriate considering the sheer number of 6.2 liters engines having issues over & over. This is absolutely unacceptable. I could have been seriously injured or even worse killed by the negligence of GM on this issue. I get it, GM made a mistake with this 6.2 engine and it’s going to cost a lot of money but my research tells me this appears to have been happening for a few years. As I sit here today my truck is sitting in a dealer lot with a busted engine & a new one is on backorder. I am currently driving a dealer “loaner” Chevy trailerblazer. It could be weeks or months before I finally get word on another 6.2 engine replacement from GM. I own a small farm and do not have a truck to haul hay or feed for horses. Can the National highway administration please help me? I thought I was buying a dependable 2023 GMC sierra 1500 AT4 & instead bought a lemon. Apparently hundreds of thousands of other 6.2 liter engines like mine are a HUGE safety hazard & should be recalled. This seems like an open & shut case & after reading into the matter I can’t believe Gov. organizations like the National Highway safety administration has not did more and let GMs 6.2 liter engine contine on. What’s left to investigate?

2016 GMC ACADIA- Becket, MA
In March of 2022 the vehicle displayed a warning to service the side detection system. on March 31st 2022 the dealership diagnosed that the Side Blind Zone Alert Module failed due to water intrusion. The replacement of the modular was completed free of charge under "Campaign - N172097060 Special Coverage Adjustment". In December of 2024 the same warning to service the side detection system was activated again, several weeks later the warning lights on the side view mirrors lite up and remained on. Upon bringing the vehicle on February 13th 2025 for service, in it was determined to be caused by the same failed part as the first occurrence. This time the repair was not covered by the dealer, and was 1099.22. GMC has not solved the underlining problem with these parts. The side detection system is critical when driving a larger SUV for blind zone awareness to avoid collisions while driving in multi lane traffic. When the system failed, the lights on the side view mirrors made driving difficult due to the distraction and glare. Although this problem is known by the manufacture it has provided a permanent solution, as they continue to use the flawed original parts. Due to the sensor being electrical, there was no symptoms prior to failure; the warning appears and continued at each start up. The cost of repairing safety features on an ageing vehicle becomes a burden, especially when those features can only be repaired by a dealership at high prices. This keeps many people from maintaining or fixing their cars, putting others at risk. I have the modular from the most recent repair, and will include a photo if possible.

2017 GMC TERRAIN- Detroit, MI
Today is [XXX]. 3 days ago my infotainment system my plug-in lighter charger all of them that's in the vehicle and my rear windshield wiper and my blinkers all went out at the same time. I had a licensed mechanic that has the fuse Checker tool, checked every fuse that he can see under the hood and on the inside of the vehicle and all the fuses lit up. I then went to O'Reilly's Auto Parts here in Highland Park Michigan bought the Savannah long life two pack bulbs for the rear blinkers and they still did not work they would not come on the brake lights would not come on nothing comes on. I then told a gentleman named Frank at that O'Reilly's about the issue about how all those components went out at the same time and he said there was currently a recall about those issues on my year making model of my GMC Terrain which is a 2017 I cannot locate that recall. The only recall I can locate is the one that describes the high beam on the headlights and that is it. So I don't know where that recall is he's talking about I don't know anything about fixing cars I just need some answers. I'm hoping someone will be able to locate the recall that he's talking about so I can have my vehicle looked at and get the issue resolved. 2017 GMC SIERRA 1500- Grand Marsh, WI
On [xxx]\ while travelling from Georgia to Florida, we fueled up at the [xxx] exit. As we left and started up the on ramp, the transmission in the truck failed. We were able to make it to a campground nearby and we called a local transmission repair shop. Not thinking anyone would answer, someone did and told us to bring the truck in the next day. To make a long story short, we did some research on the transmission in the truck and found there were a few class action lawsuits on this particular transmission. In fact, the transmission repair shop told us he has had to work on quite a few of vehicles with this particular transmission. I find this quite disturbing since no recalls have been issued on this transmission. The truck only had 135,000 miles on it. 2024 GMC YUKON- Covington, LA
On February 14, 2025, my brakes went completely out in the school carline while picking up my youngest daughter. After the incident happened, I saw a light that read "Service ESC." This private elementary school is next-door to a private high school. There were students, teachers, and parents walking in this area at this time. I had to maneuver through this carline and away from faculty, students, and parents with no breaks. No individual was injured or killed but it could have been a very serious accident. I called GMC asking for help but was told through a chat line to bring the vehicle in for service. I was finally able to get my Yukon to the service department where after a few days it was determined my brakes failed and they were replaced. One day after I received the vehicle back from service, there was a horrible noise while driving but no lights showed on the dashboard, so it was returned to the same service department. They found metal shavings in my oil and I was told the lifters had collapsed and the engine failed. At this time, I have not heard from GMC and my vehicle is still in the service department.

2023 GMC SIERRA 1500- Santa Barbara , CA
purchased a 2023 GMC Denali, 1500 on January 12, 2025. after about a week,Started to hear knocking ticking noises took the truck to the dealership with 20,362 miles . dealership diagnosed that the lifters on the driver side went bad dealership replace driver side bank , picked up my truck drove it a little over 500 miles and still heard knocking ticking noises. Send it back to the dealership and dropped it off dealership told me they would keep me an update on it.Emailed called have absolutely no idea what’s going on with my truck. The dealership did mention of a possible engine replacement. But did not confirm after many attempts. Trying to attempt to contact the dealership emails phone calls still no answer. Called General Motors. They informed me the dealership ordered a new engine for replacement. That definitely worried me and I asked for a vehicle replacement or refund General motors, declined my request. Now I am not so confident in my truck what else could go wrong since the engine is going to be replaced? What about the transmission? Could it affect it? I don’t know> The damage was significant in order for the engine to be replaced you just don’t replace an engine just because, there was no light indications that something was going wrong with my truck. I’m glad I wasn’t driving far when I was hearing these noises coming from the engine because the engine could have seized left me stranded who knows could have crashed if the engine came to abrupt stop because of the engine failure. I purchased this truck January 12, 2025 . The total of time that I have had my truck since January 12 has been 15 days. today is February 6 on Friday, February 7. My truck has been in the shop literally 30 days exactly. Still no update on when it will be ready. This is so frustrating and such a big inconvenience.
