2022 GMC YUKON XL- Edmond, OK
Our car has 66,000 miles on it. My wife was driving it we have never hooked a trailer to it. Never done anything but drive our kids around go run errands in it. The motor seized and left my wife stranded. The car has been fully serviced ahead of schedule every time And very well taken care of it still looks new, but the dealership is now telling me the motor and the transmission possibly are bad and I’m only 6000 miles past the factory warranty. There’s no reason for this motor to have failed or the transmission as the car has never seen any hard service and has only seen normal paved roads and running errands and dropping kids off. The dealership said it’s going to cost around $16,000 to fix both the engine and the transmission out of nowhere the motor just seized with no warning and no noises

2022 GMC SIERRA 1500- Winnfielf, LA
While traveling from Florida back to Louisiana on [XXX], I stopped at a store when I came back out the vehicle would not start. I ended up having the battery boosted by a gentleman and then returned to my drive home. I drove from Quincy, Florida where the truck wouldn’t start to the [XXX] exit in Louisiana. I made 2 other stops but left the vehicle idling at both stops. At the [XXX] exit, I left the vehicle idling while I went inside and the vehicle quit running on its own. After many unsuccessful attempts, I couldn’t get the vehicle started again. I replaced the battery with no luck. Since it was Sunday night, I was unable to get the vehicle towed so I left the vehicle at the gas station and got a ride back to Baton Rouge so I could borrow a vehicle to get back to Winnfield, LA for work the following morning. My parents went the next morning ([XXX]) and had the mega switch replaced and the truck started right up. My mother then drove the vehicle to Baton Rouge, when she stopped at a traffic light, the truck quit again and she called OnStar to have it towed to Gerry Lane GMC. On [XXX], I received a call from Scott at Gerry Lane stating the vehicle had a lower engine knock and the truck needed a new engine. After multiple phone calls and my parents going to the dealership, mg parents were finally told the oil filter was filled with metal. None of that information was given in the phone call to me. I was simply told it needed a new engine with no explanation of how we got from a truck that wouldn’t start to needing a new engine. After waiting an extended time frame for them to locate an engine, I was finally able to pickup my truck on [XXX]. 2019 GMC SIERRA 3500- Bailey, CO
The other day approximately 5 minutes after leaving my house I noticed a smell and saw some slight smoke coming from my rear window. I immediately turned off the rear defrost and my rear window shattered. The next day I discovered other Chevy/gmc vehicles have a recall for a short circuit in the rear defrost. Unfortunately the dealership will not help me until there is a recall with my vin as there is not an open recall on my vehicle.

2023 GMC SIERRA 1500- Fairmont, WV
I was driving on the interstate and the vehicle just shut off with a warning stating conditions not right to shift. I had to drift off the interstate and the vehicle would not restart. This happened on 12/4/24 and has been at the dealership since.

2023 GMC SIERRA 1500- Perry, OH
Transmission Light has been on & off for a month and half. Had it at dealer twice, dealer will not confirm a problem. Truck shifts and bucks between first and second gear. Makes stopping in traffic difficult as truck will surge and jump when down shifting while stopping. Took truck to AAMCO Transmission shop. Confirmed problem, no new transmission units or rebuild parts are available for the GM 8 Speed transmission. AAMCO is replacing unit with a used one. This is a company truck also have a second truck having the same issues with half the miles of this unit. In my opinion GM is aware of the issue in that with both trucks at dealer with same issue, they just send me off with no documentation so as to not have a paper trail. Also no new units available makes me believe that GM can not keep up with warranty replacements.

2023 GMC ACADIA- White Lake, MI
I am experiencing a recurring P04FB diagnostic trouble code on my 2023 GMC Acadia, related to the crankcase pressure sensor. GM issued Bulletin No. PIP5841C, which attributes the issue to moisture buildup freezing inside the sensor. Their recommended fix is to remove the sensor, blow out any moisture, and reinstall it. However, this is not a permanent solution—the code returns within days, suggesting an inherent design flaw in the PCV system. Additionally, the replacement sensor (Part #12718935) is on national backorder, making it impossible to obtain. Many owners across multiple GM models using this engine (such as the Chevrolet Blazer and Cadillac XT4) are experiencing the same problem, yet GM has not provided a real solution. A properly designed PCV system should not allow excessive moisture to accumulate in the sensor. Instead of addressing the root cause, GM’s bulletin merely delays the issue by temporarily clearing the moisture. This approach does not prevent the problem from recurring, and it does not fix the underlying defect. If the sensor fails or provides inaccurate readings, it can affect emissions and engine performance. The fact that the replacement part is unavailable suggests GM may be restricting access to it, possibly because they know it is defective. This raises concerns that GM is quietly managing a widespread issue rather than issuing a formal recall or warranty extension. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue, as GM's current approach does not resolve the problem. Owners should not be forced to repeatedly clear moisture from a sensor that is failing due to a design flaw. If GM has internally identified a better solution, it should be made available to affected owners instead of delaying action with ineffective temporary fixes.

2015 GMC SIERRA 1500- New Era, MI
Infotainment screen not responsive to touch, will not reset and freezes with black screen message warning drivers to not take their eyes off the road. Because of the latent defects known to GM in the screen, it is impossible to reset the controls (the "OK" button will not clear the error message). The freezing and non-responsiveness and elimination of outside temperature display creates a driver distraction hazard trying to clear it while driving, and prevents the driver from being alerted to outside temperatures dropping below freezing. GM customer care refused to provide any assistance for the $1,045 repair charge quoted by the dealer and refused to acknowledge that this is an inherent vehicle defect well established, that already produced a service advisory and redesign of the defective screen. Problem has existed for quite some time, and infotainment issues were initially reported to dealer on 3/9/2015 (2 months after delivery) without adequate resolution.

2021 GMC YUKON XL- Gastonia, NC
On [XXX] while driving my 2021 GMC Yukon Denali to work, the vehicle suddenly lost power without warning. I had it towed to the dealership, where I was informed that the fuse pack needed replacement. Less than 36 hours after getting my vehicle back, I experienced another critical failure—while driving, the traction control light and check engine light came on, and the engine began making a loud clacking noise. Upon returning it to the dealership, I was told that the vehicle required a complete engine replacement. Prior to this incident, my Yukon had no known mechanical issues. However, despite the vehicle being only three years old and under GMC’s 5-year/60,000-mile PowerTrain warranty, the failure occurred at 65,722 miles—just over the coverage limit. GMC has acknowledged nearly 900,000 reported issues related to this engine defect, yet instead of issuing a full recall, I was only offered 60% coverage, leaving me with over $5,000 in out-of-pocket costs for an issue that is clearly a widespread manufacturing defect. I purchased this vehicle for its reputation of reliability and safety, especially as the primary mode of transportation for my family of five, with no nearby relatives to rely on. Given the known defects, it is unacceptable that GMC has failed to take full responsibility. I am formally requesting that GMC cover the full cost of the engine replacement and issue a recall to prevent other consumers from experiencing the same failure.
