2019 GMC YUKON DENALI- La Porte City, IA
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Yukon Denali. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine made loud knocking sounds, and the vehicle lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle went into LIMP Mode but was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the lifters had failed, and that the engine needed to be disassembled for further inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

2022 GMC SIERRA 1500- Tremont, IL
Engine suddenly started knocking and loss of power while driving on the highway. If engine had stopped or locked up it could have caused an accident. Took it straight to my dealer on Dec. 30, they said to leave it that the knocking was coming from lower part of engine. Couple weeks later they called and told me it was crank bearings. Very disappointed I only have 11000 miles on it.There was no prior warning lamps or symptoms. They have a new engine on order but said there is a nation wide back order, so no way to know how long it will take to find one.

2020 GMC SIERRA 1500- Grand Blanc, MI
I had Engine Failure in June 2024 with roughly 50,000 miles. I was getting on I75 North in Auburn Hills, MI, when I heard a loud pop. The vehicle began shaking violently with a loss of engine power warning displayed, loss of oil pressure displayed followed by 2 successive limp mode warning. The vehicle would not drive over 25 MPH. Luckily the next exit was only a mile down the road. I was able to drive on the shoulder of the Interstate to get off of the highway. When I parked the vehicle shortly after, I viewed oil spewed all over the engine bay and under the truck. I then waited 4 hours in 95+ heat for a tow truck. The engine was replaced by the dealer with no root cause identified or communicated to me. There were no warning prior to this failure. The vehicle has had over 13 warranty related issues including the DEF heater melting, CAC pump failure, Numerous Exhaust Leaks, NOX and EGR sensors failing, brake control module faults etc.

2022 GMC SIERRA 1500- Utica, NY
Used my truck to back out of the driveway and wouldn't go into reverse at all. Towed to dealership and said problem was transmission valve body went bad. Dealership said TVB fail all the time in these trucks. They told me that this part is on back order and could be 2 or 3 months to get part in. GM has and known transmission issues . This truck is little over 2 years old and only has 40k on it. I'm hearing that TVB are failing while driving and creating dangerous situations and GM isn't doing anything about . Truck is under PT warranty. I asked what can't GM just put a new transmission in? They say it's not cost effective. So cost is over safety i said!

2021 GMC YUKON XL- Baton Rouge, LA
On Friday, [XXX] at approximately [XXX], my family was traveling on [XXX] at [XXX} in Colorado. Our 2021 Yukon Denali XL all of a sudden shut down without warning while going up the mountain at a spot where there was no shoulder. The car would not restart despite multiple attempts. We called 911 several times and waited in the lane of interstate traffic for approximately 45 minutes for emergency vehicles to arrive to block the lane. It was one of the most harrowing experiences of our lives. Our car was nearly hit five times by semi-trucks and cars that could not change lanes fast enough, and all we could do was put our flashers on, honk the horn at incoming cars, and tell our four children to lean back in the seat and prepare for impact. When the tow truck arrived, they could not get the car in neutral and the tow truck had to winch the Yukon on the flatbed to tow it. The car was towed to Raton, New Mexico. The mechanic said that he tried to put a bar on the engine and turn it over but it would not move. The vehicle is still at the mechanic’s shop in Raton, New Mexico. I am in the process of trying to get it towed to a GMC dealership. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2022 GMC SIERRA 1500- Dacula, GA
6.2L Engine burning excessive oil, so dealer per GM started an Oil Consumption test at 34,457 miles went through the process until 45,145 miles and dealer took it in at 45,468 to tear down engine, I contacted GM Aftersales and Customer Service VP and he had a representative start working the case, Engine was found to have scored cylinders on the driver's bank decision was made to replace engine. Engine was replaced and picked up vehicle and was told to bring it back in 5k miles for an oil change. I brought it back in 1k miles and retained the filter and used a filter cutter and inspected the filter. Filter had a significant amount of Metal and Metillac pieces imbedded in the filter (I have the filter still) I reported this to the Dealer and GM Aftersales and Customer Service, They noted this a normal! I then had the filter only changed at 500 more miles and still contained some debris, this is the second truck that I have owned the first was a 21 same issue first replacement failed in 25 miles, 2nd motor failed at start up and then I traded into this 22' and took a major financial hit on trade in, then a 3rd motor in the 21' and it made it so the truck could be wholesaled or sold, by this time I had bought this truck that has just had the motor replaced and currently have 7k on the new motor which was replaced under warranty. I feel confident that the metal debris that was in this engine is a contributing factor if not the factor that is causing the engine failures and suspect this engine will have the same demise. I welcome you to take possession of the filter and inspect it yourself. I have a video of the filter that I would be glad to share. These engine failures have cost me $25,000 in trade in loss.

2024 GMC SIERRA 1500- OLD BRIDGE, NJ
Since brand new, the engine makes a significantly loud chirping sound at two occasions. First is every time the fuel saving auto start kicks in to start acceleration. The other is any time you come to a stop from above 25-35 MPH. At around 16 MPH, there is a loud chirping as you decelerate. This appears to be a timing malfunction and is affecting fuel economy. The vehicle has 8,800 miles on it, and it is getting worse. It has been looked at 4 times and has not been identified. I know there was a GM bulletin from 2022 about this 6.2L V8 Engine, but they state it is "normal". I have never heard a normal sound of this kind from an engine. And certainly not on a $75K vehicle. Please investigate and make them correct the issue or replace the engines. people work too hard to afford nice vehicles, and should not have to deal with this issue.
