Shift to Park - car will not turn off after putting in park. Car is still running after several attempts of hitting the power button to turn off. I have had to replace the battery twice in the same year. I have brought this issue to the dealership from the beginning of purchase and was unsuccessful.

    - Carrollton, OH

Heard a ticking noise coming from the engine compartment. I opened the hood to investigate which I first check oil level as sounded like a lifter making the noise but all fluid levels was normal. I drove home and 3 miles later ticking noise went away and my adaptive brake assist came in and the brake pedal was hard to press. Luckily I lived another mile down the road so I got the car home and safely parked it. One of the symptoms is hearing a ticking noise from engine when a braking component fails. Further learned could be a vacuum issue which needs a software update which makes no sense. Had I been traveling highway speeds when this happened this story could have a had a very different tragic ending. Car has less then 53000 miles on it

    - Slidell , LA

I have not been in an incident yet, but when I slow down coming off the highway and try to come back up to traffic speed the the transmission bucks or shutters. Also when starting from a red light or stop sign the truck bucks or shutters very notable in 3-4-5th gear. I watched the tachometer and it shutters most of my drive. In all fairness, I have not brought it to the dealership yet. I see other people are having this problem with the Canyons and Colorado also. Please advise!

I just had an oil change in late December of 2023. As I was driving to work on [XXX]. My engine locked up. There were no warning lights. By the time I was able to pull over, a rod had gone thru the engine. Apparently there was an oil leak but no warning lights. This has not only caused me to have to purchase a new engine but could have resulted in a collision while driving. After doing some research this is a known defect by GM and a class action lawsuit. GM has failed to recall these vehicles for a known defect. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Headlights are so dim that we will not drive the car at night. Dealer's service manager says that he knows about the problem but "there's nothing I can do to fix it". I see a few similar complaints on this site, but nothing as to who to contact to get the problem solved NOR any action on this on the part of the NHSTA. Where do we go from here?

  • 2024 GMC SIERRA 2500
    - Heyburn, ID

The contact owns a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle drove by on the driver's side of the vehicle, and the blind spot alert light illuminated on the passenger's side of the vehicle, even though the vehicle was present on the driver's side. The contact also stated that the failure only occurred when the Adaptive Cruise Control was activated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was able to duplicate the failure but was unable to provide a fix. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 3.

    - Otsego, MN

Vehicle started leaking oil with no indicator. Didn't realize it for at least a few days. When I smelled a burned oil smell took it to the repair shop. Was told my oil gasket blew and the engine is about shot. I also only a month earlier replaced the battery. These vehicles apparently have known battery, oil and engine issues that were known since 2010. The following class action lawsuit in Missouri is pending: [XXX] , on behalf of herself and all others similarly situated, Plaintiff, v. GENERAL MOTORS LLC, Defendant. _____________________________________ Our vehicle is not even at 100,000 miles! This will cost thousands of dollars to fix or we will need to purchase a new vehicle which we didn't plan on for a few years at least! This has been devastating. Please help. My vehicle keeps showing “service brake assist” and “service TSC” lights. I was on a hill and the auto-start was engaged, as well as hill assist. When I let off the brake pedal slightly to get the car to come out of auto-start, the car acted like it completely shut off (radio went black and lost power) and the car just started rolling backwards quickly. If there was a vehicle behind me it would’ve %100 caused an accident. My wife and child ride in this car every day and this is the second time I’ve had serious issues with this car. The first time I was driving down the interstate and the brake vaccuum pump went out and I lost all brakes, I had to put all 180lbs of my weight on the brake pedal to get it to stop.
