  • 2024 JAYCO SWIFT
    - Windermere , FL

While traveling on [XXX] from Orlando to Longboat Key, FL on [XXX] at approximately [XXX], with approximately 10,000 miles on the vehicle, our roof-mounted solar panel detached from the pop-top roof at highway speed. Weather conditions were clear, calm, and dry. We did not realize the panel had detached until we stopped several hours later, at which point we discovered the panel was gone and a 16 - inch hole had been torn into the pop-top roof. Inspection showed the adhesive bond on the front passenger side failed, allowing wind to tear the panel, front mounting bracket and wiring completely off. A detached solar panel and the mounting bracket at highway speed presents a serious road hazard to following vehicles. We note that NHTSA previously issued Recall 23V404000 for this identical failure mode (solar panel detachment from pop-top roof) on 2023 model Jayco Swift units. Our 2025 unit was not part of that recall population, indicating this defect may not have been fully corrected across model years. Vehicle is currently at an authorized Jayco dealer (Blue Compass) for evaluation. We purchased the Jayco Swift with the solar panels already installed by Jayco.
