2022 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SPORT- Fort Washington, MD
I am reporting what I believe is a safety-related defect involving the automatic transmission in my 2022 Land Rover Discovery Sport, VIN [XXX]. Approximately five months after the factory warranty expired, at around 44,000 miles, the transmission began slipping unexpectedly, and the vehicle would not accelerate above roughly 25–35 mph. This occurred while driving, creating an unsafe condition. I needed to make a left turn across traffic, but because the vehicle would not accelerate properly and could not safely match the speed of other vehicles, I judged it too dangerous to change lanes and complete the left turn. Instead, I had to make a right turn, pull into a driveway, turn around, and continue straight to avoid an unsafe lane change. A vehicle that cannot respond normally to throttle input presents a risk when merging, changing lanes, or crossing intersections. The symptoms are transmission slipping under acceleration, limited maximum speed, and abnormal drivability. To my knowledge, this is not due to driver error or poor maintenance. The problem has been reproduced and observed by an authorized Land Rover dealer (Land Rover of Alexandria, Alexandria, VA), which provided an estimated repair cost of about $7,000, indicating a major transmission or control-system fault. The vehicle and transmission are available for inspection upon request. I understand there have been prior recalls and technical bulletins involving Land Rover transmission control issues (including a recall where certain Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque vehicles could unexpectedly shift into neutral due to sensor and software calibration problems). My vehicle’s behavior—loss of proper drive, slipping, and limited speed—raises similar safety concerns even if the failure mode is not identical. I am concerned that there may be ongoing transmission control or calibration issues that could affect safety. 2022 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY- Boylston, MA
I was driving home from work late at night in December 2025. A Signal came on that said pull to safety or something like that and then I lost power steering and brake control and my entire dash in my vehicle went pitch black. I was in the middle lane on route 290 and I was very lucky not to hit any other vehicles, but it was incredibly scary because I had no control of my vehicle and there were many cars and trucks on the road around me. I coasted off slowly to the side and I had to sit in 15° temperatures for an hour while I waited for AAA to come and tow my vehicle. They towed it to my home and were not able to get it off the ramp so they had to tow it to the dealership because the battery had died. The vehicle for a couple weeks before was slow to start, which I did not realize at the time was a sign that the battery was being drained. It was brought to the dealer and discovered that the DC DC converter and the BECM was the issue. My vehicle is open for inspection if you need it. The converter and BECM have been replaced after fighting with the dealer and with Landrover. Landrover is aware of the situation because they had to work with the dealer on their systems.Unfortunately, I am out almost $1000 because they made me pay for the replacement of the battery ( and the towing ) . Honestly I am having PTSD every time I drive past the area where I almost crashed. Landrover did not even want to accept responsibility, but the dealer did as we have purchased two vehicles from them that we also maintain meticulously.

2022 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY- Lakeville, MN
The failing component is the same as Land Rover Discovery 2017-2020 recall /N221 service action. Complaint is to extend this service action/ recall to later production models of Land Rover Discovery in the years 2021 and 2022. The same issues are occurring as reported with Land Rover discovery 2017-2020. Due to a faulty sealant mechanism, the windshield is leaking water on the inside of vehicle causing visual impairment whilst driving in rain, snow and wet conditions - an unsafe way to drive. The water is also known to leak into electrical components causing cameras to not work, causing steering issues and causing electrical safety warning systems not to function. Land Rover Discovery (specifically 2017–2020 models) has faced issues with water leaking from the windshield, causing potential electrical damage and cabin moisture, as detailed in a Service Action (N221) and a 2020 class-action lawsuit. While often handled as a technical service bulletin (TSB) rather than a safety recall, dealers are instructed to inspect and, if necessary, replace the windshield.Key Details Regarding the Windshield Issues:Affected Vehicles: Primarily 2017-2018 Discovery 5, though reports have continued for 2020 models.Problem: Improper sealing leads to water leaks, causing moisture in the cabin and potential damage to electrical components.Service Action/Recall: Service Action N221 outlines instructions for dealers to test for leaks and replace the windshield if necessary, under certain circumstances.Action Needed: Owners experiencing this issue should contact their local Land Rover dealership for a check, as it may be covered by the manufacturer's warranty or a goodwill repair. However, service dealers who I have called are requiring me to pay $250 for a diagnostic of their own issue. As well as keep the car for several days just to evaluate.

2022 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SPORT- Fremont, OH
Started car, placed transmission in 'reverse' and backed up into a public thoroughfare zone thinking enough time was alloted to place vehicle in 'drive' and merge into traffic. Car would not go into 'drive' nor would it go back into 'reverse' let alone 'neutral. So after realizing the car was reporting a transmission fault and placing itself back into 'park' each time, due to a transmission sensor detection issue. I was stranded in traffic. After calling for towing service, we learned that only a few could drag the car up onto a transport bed using wheel skids, since all four tires were locked up. This model does not have a manual neutral override feature. Poor design, placing my wife, who is handicapped, into a perilous situation.

The contact owns a 2022 Land Rover Discovery. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked, and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and turned off. The contact waited before restarting the vehicle; however, after driving for several miles the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the vehicle jerked, and the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal before the vehicle stalled. The message "Emergency Braking Assistance Not Available" was displayed. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. The contact called for assistance and another driver arrived the scene and followed behind the vehicle back to the residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ground studs were not connected and had failed to function as intended. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The contact stated that before the electrical failure, the message "Check Coolant" was displayed. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V457000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

2022 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY- Washington, DC
Car displayed a warning noting of an “an electrical fault” but was still running fine otherwise. Drove straight to service center roughly 5 miles away. About a half a mile away from service center the car experienced a cascading number faults in quick succession. First it was safety systems, then air suspension, followed by transmission and finally steering, which point the car was able to roll and some steering though required significant effort. This occurred during traffic, where luckily i had just gotten off the highway. I was able to coast the car into the middle of a shopping center parking lot where it became immobile. A fortunate timing of intersection traffic lights being green likely helped avoid a collision or hitting a pedestrian as all vehicle systems shut down. Towed vehicle to factory service center. Dealer confirmed a a failed DC-to-DC Converter (48V to 12V in mild hybrid system) led to vehicle shutdown and damaged auxiliary 12V battery. Requires a new DC to DC converter but is on backorder for weeks with no ETA available. Car remains immobile until a new part is received.

2022 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SPORT- The Woodlands, TX
The roof molding strip has blown off on the freeway putting commuters at risk. This has happened on this vehicle type (discovery sport) for us, 3 times (2 on one vehicle and 1 on this VIN). With this part flying off on the freeway, other drivers swerve to miss it. I cannot stop on the freeway to retrieve it due to traffic and other driving at 60mph or more. We have met with the dealer on the other car and they fixed it. It was a known issue. There has been a service/safety bulletin issued, however, they want to charge us a large amount of money. This is manufacturing defect. Land rover is not taking responsibility. This is happening all over based on research. Here is the bulletin ID LTB00865NAS2 - Roof Molding. Please help with remedying this as it is a public safety issue.
