The contact owns a 2015 Land Rover Range Rover. The contact stated that upon entering the driveway at a slow speed, the contact believed that the vehicle had hydroplaned. The vehicle was shifted into park(P) before reversing and then parked in the garage. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the contact noticed that the front passenger's side tire had turned inward while the other tires were facing forward. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the front passenger’s side had a cracked inner and outer tie rod. The contact was then notified of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V840000 (Steering); however, the parts to do the recall repair were not available. The dealer replaced the tie rod spindle and joint ball and additionally paid to replace the two front tires, and the vehicle was balanced and aligned. The contact was then informed that there might be a reimbursement for the repairs once parts became available. The contact was informed that the vehicle was repaired and drivable, even though the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the repairs. The contact inquired about the safety of the vehicle despite the recall remedy not being available, but the manufacturer had not answered the question. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

    - Washington, DC

Car displayed a warning noting of an “an electrical fault” but was still running fine otherwise. Drove straight to service center roughly 5 miles away. About a half a mile away from service center the car experienced a cascading number faults in quick succession. First it was safety systems, then air suspension, followed by transmission and finally steering, which point the car was able to roll and some steering though required significant effort. This occurred during traffic, where luckily i had just gotten off the highway. I was able to coast the car into the middle of a shopping center parking lot where it became immobile. A fortunate timing of intersection traffic lights being green likely helped avoid a collision or hitting a pedestrian as all vehicle systems shut down. Towed vehicle to factory service center. Dealer confirmed a a failed DC-to-DC Converter (48V to 12V in mild hybrid system) led to vehicle shutdown and damaged auxiliary 12V battery. Requires a new DC to DC converter but is on backorder for weeks with no ETA available. Car remains immobile until a new part is received.

    - Winchester, MA

Backing out of a driveway. Stopping and put the car in drive. Started to drive. Turned the steering wheel and heard a metal crunch. Steering failed because the bolts that hold electric motor attached to the steering mechanism sheered. Broke off from the mount. A very dangerous situation. Could have hit other cars as there was no control.

  • 2023 LAND ROVER DEFENDER
    - Warrenton , VA

The Defender is only 2 years old, with 59k miles. Outside of warranty. It is a mild hybrid. Received an emergency electrical fault issue. Car stalled out. Had to get it towed to dealership. Its been with the dealership for a month now, with another month anticipated for the part, a dc converter, which is on backorder with LR to be delivered. Battery is dead also. Total repair is estimated at $3100. I will be without the vehicle for atleast 2 months. Looking through the internet it appears this is an issue with LR. Filed a complaint with LR corporate. They are aware of this happening also to vehicles which would explain the backorder on the part. No recall yet however.

  • 2022 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SPORT
    - The Woodlands, TX

The roof molding strip has blown off on the freeway putting commuters at risk. This has happened on this vehicle type (discovery sport) for us, 3 times (2 on one vehicle and 1 on this VIN). With this part flying off on the freeway, other drivers swerve to miss it. I cannot stop on the freeway to retrieve it due to traffic and other driving at 60mph or more. We have met with the dealer on the other car and they fixed it. It was a known issue. There has been a service/safety bulletin issued, however, they want to charge us a large amount of money. This is manufacturing defect. Land rover is not taking responsibility. This is happening all over based on research. Here is the bulletin ID LTB00865NAS2 - Roof Molding. Please help with remedying this as it is a public safety issue.

  • 2023 LAND ROVER DEFENDER
    - Woodbury , NY

My car died on December 14, 2025 when I was pulling out of my driveway. It read “stop safely electrical fault detected.” And then shut down and would not turn on. Then it said “battery low. Please start engine.” But the car would not start. I had to get it towed to the dealer. They told me it was a the DC converter or the epic module. They said this is a company wide issue with the 2023 defenders and they do not have the part in stock and that it is on back order. Right now they are stating that the part may be in in mid February. Previous to this issue I also had issues two times with my car stating engine coolant issues and had to bring it to the dealer two times to get fixed.
