2010 LEXUS HS- Arvada, CO
Taking left turn, heard a loud sound and complete loss of control of vehicle. Currently being inspected by Lexus dealership, although car was initially towed to dealership service center from which is was purchased. They mentioned lower control arm of rear suspension bolt was lost/missing and rear struts were shot and vehicle is unsafe to drive. I then paid for a second tow from dealership to Lexus dealership. No warning lights were lit except after total loss of control.

All doors were closed and no warnings on the dash before I started driving and I made sure kids lock was engaged by checking the door lock status inside the vehicle because I had two kids sitting on the back seat with car seat installed. However, while I was driving at 30 mp/h, the door open warning appeared on the dash indicated that the left rear door was not closed and the chime was played continuously, I panic'd because I had kids in the rear seats and I ended up getting hit by a tree. Luckily kids were safe but I had no idea why the door decide to unlock and opened itself while driving, which could have been worse if I was on highway..

While driving down the Interstate 75 at 70 mph the car completely lost engine power and the whole dashboard lit up. It would not respond to acceleration. I had to pull the car over to the side of the road. I re-started the car and it started back up and worked normally. The following day while on I-75 the car experienced reduced power this time. The car would not accelerate above 20 mph . We got off at the next exit. We spent about 10 minutes searching for the closest Lexus dealer and then when we went to start the car again it ran normally. This has subsequently happened a 3rd time where the car would not respond to the accelerator and I had to pull over to the shoulder and re-start the car. Unfortunately there are no error codes showing when we took it to the dealership on both occasions so they are unable to diagnose the issue.

Dashboard is sticky, shiny, and melting from the heat. All lint, dust and cloth sticks to the sticky dashboard. Shiny dashboards can pose safety hazards that affect visibility with a glare bouncing off the windshield, and overall health issues since melted dashboards can emit harmful odors. Lexus is saying their Customer Support Program ZLZ expired in 2021. I never received any mail from them about this program even though they claim they mailed it to me in 2018. I have been having my vehicle serviced at Longo Lexus since 2009, with the last maintenance service done on 6/21/23, and the dealership just noted this problem sticky dashboard issue to me, after the Lexus customer support program expired. The server advisor at Longo told me they could replace my dashboard for $2,572, but don't understand why they didn't offer to replace it for free in 2018-2021, like they did my floor mats, which was also a safety hazard. This sticky and melting dashboard problem is a manufacturer defect and my dashboard needs to be replaced by Lexus at no cost to me regardless if my vehicle is out of warranty. Also, the expiration date for this Customer Support Program needs to be extended for all owners of Lexus vehicles with this problem, regardless of mileage.

Steering system makes noise when the steering wheel is turned. The steering has a "sticking" characteristic on the highway, making it unsafe to drive due to minor adjustments over center causing the steering rack to temporarily "lock up", then dart left or right when more force is applied. Owner contacted Lexus Corporate about this issue, but they were uncooperative.

My vehicle has a sticky door panel issue that is easily damaged/defected when in contact. Due to the material chosen by the manufacturer, the door panels are easily defected in scratches, sun damage, flaking, etc.. I been in contact with other 2007 Lexus IS 250 owners that have the same complain on their vehicle. I called the dealership and they also confirmed the issue, but they were unable to assist me and recommended me to file a complaint with NHTSA. I simply request to have a recall on my vehicle (VIN) to have my door panels replaced by the manufacturer at no out-of-pocket cost to me. Thank you!

Complaint Details I had a recently cracked dashboard in my 2008 Lexus RX350. It was cracked over the entire dashboard. I knew of the warranty extension recall of this as to my letter I recieved in 2016. I took it in for service for this and of course at the time my dashboard was looked at had a tiny crack. And they pretty much said owell.. Of course now in 2023 it has been cracking for almost 2 years. I tolerated until I was told it's a safety issue if I were in a accident that the airbags deployed it could shatter all over in a million pieces. I'm disabled and elderly and don't need anymore problems. So I took it in to have it replaced and 2622.08 later to have it replaced. That's with a discount from the dealership. Are you kidding me Lexus??? I had it immediately replaced when I found out it was a big safety concern. Shame on Lexus saying it's a cosmetic problem and not covered. I spoke to Corporate and they told me they won't do anything for me and there's no higher ups and they won't refund my money. Shame on you. I'm demanding a full refund. This needs to be corrected for the cars out there that are still experiencing this problem. My dealership told me they had more cars coming in for the same repair. Sounds alot like Lexus is getting richer on an 800 dollar part. Don't even tell me it's labor intensified. My car was done is 2 hours. I will if I have to get a class action lawsuit if I don't get my refund. Just terrible to play around with people's safety!!! I have attached my letter and another attachment about safety. I also have my warranty paper they sent but can't upload it.

I was advise by one of the mechanic to change tires immediately. Since my Grand daughter occasionally drive the card, due to safety, We bought 4 set of Brand New Good Year Assurant Outlast Tires immediately (235/55 R18) from Walmart at Farmingdale, NY on 6/12/2023 at 8:00 PM. Walmart stated that they could not put tire on my car for another week so I decided to take tires to my local mechanic who put ALL 4 tires next day in the morning. All tires were installed; however, after driving for about 15 miles, I saw my car pulling. I pulled in safe area and notice that the car was tire was flat. I towed car to the mechanic who installed it. He stated that tire is leaking from side and is NO Good! I went to Walmart to complain about the tire. They punted the problem to call Good Year. I called Good Year at [XXX] to file complain (No [XXX]). Apparently, Good Year tire technician looked in Hurry at the tire and stated that is Road side issue and punted problem again. They stated that they will provide 50% tire cost if we buy again. I believe there is defect in the tire which Good Year (and Walmart) are not owning up to and giving run around. I still have the tire and I want NHTSA to investigate further on root cause esp since I do have 3 other tires installed and my granddaughter is driving. If you have any questions or concerns please call at [XXX] (My Son [XXX]) or me at [XXX] [XXX]. Thank you. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
