2006 LEXUS RX- seattle, WA
This vehicle seems to have a well-documented problem with water intrusion that damages the ECU and hybrid battery. The 2006 and 2007 RX400h has the HV battery located under the seat, which is the low spot in the rear section of the car. If water is spilled or the body has a water leak, the water will pool at the center of the battery. Lexus considered this, and added a drain under the battery, but the drain has a filter, presumably to keep insects out, and the filter is easily clogged. This, coupled with a pattern problem of split body seams near the rear hatch strut mount causing a water leak in the rear of the car, has created isolation faults in many of the RX400h SUVs. The condition presents as warnings on the instrument cluster and a no-start condition where the vehicle is inoperable. A search for "lexus ECU water intrusion" brings up my vehicle's exact model and year so this is well-documented.

? ?All brake related lights went on suddenly; brakes are failing: will have to push to ground to slow down the car. Car is unsafe to drive due to the brake condition. Yet, this is really a complaint on the recall process for a car safety issue rather than the issue itself: the car manufacturer (Lexus) has sent me a letter in 2022 which highlighted this potential brake issue (a letter from Lexus HQ can be found in NHTSA achieve, and is also attached here). Took the car to Lexus dealer, they checked and verified the brake issue is exactly as described in the recall (code C1391, brake booster need to replace); BUT the coverage was rejected, siting that my car is over 10 years old while this recall program covers “10 years or 150k miles, whichever comes first”; then Lexus has quoted me $3000 to fix this. I have argued that the recall letter was sent to me in 2022, when my car is already over 10 years, although mileage has just passed 100k, 2/3 of the mileage limit. Having such term like “whichever comes first” is simply self-contradictory: if 10 years or less is a pre-condition, this recall should just exclude 2011 and 2012 models. ?and more importantly: brake issue is a major public safety concern, recall program should not have all these strings attached; and it certainly should not be used as sales scheme for expensive repairs. (they quoted much higher price? on both labor and parts?) Please help bring attention to Lexus regarding this quite irresponsible way of handling car safety issues. According to Lexus’ own estimate, ?close to 50,000 such cars might be impacted, this is not a small number. Thank you! ?

Car shakes and shutters and is very reluctant to accelerate at low speeds, even with gas pedal pressed down. Then acceleration kicks in and it wants to bolt off.

2021 LEXUS ES HYBRID- Vancouver, WA
On Nov 9, 2022 I first noticed the problem. When I drove back to home Vancouver, WA from California I used cruise control all the way. I was driving at 70 and ahead of me was traffic. The car in front of me slowed down and the cruise control was on which was supposed to detect the car ahead and slowed down using the brakes but it didn’t and my rpm went high almost 4-5. I called the dealership about the incident while on the way. I was asked if there were any issues like lights, warning/message but there was nothing. I have a video about it. When I arrived home turned off the car. Woke up the next day, took it to the dealership and the car is working fine. I showed one of the service reps the video and he stated they cant fix the car because there is no issue coming up in the computer. At the time the mileage was 46,313. After this incident it didn’t happen again. However after 60k miles when I drove over 6-7hrs the problem came up again. I almost got in an accident because the car didn’t slow down and stop. I called the lexus headquarters and they communicated with the same dealership to look into it. My car is at the dealership right now and don't know if they will find the issue and if it will get fixed. I don't feel safe driving this car because of the close encounters Ive had to an accident. I rely on my car for my job and by leaving it at a dealership for many days Im losing income. I hope they can find the issue and fix it right away.

2020 LEXUS NX- Grand Prairie, TX
Bridgestone 235/55 R18. I was driving in the far left Lane on the interstate going 65mph. The tire pressure warning came on. The vehicle seemed too shaky to continue on. I attempted to merge right to get off on the next exit and the vehicle began to shake violently. Before I could exit safely the tire shredded with several loud pops in the 3rd lane of traffic before I was able to merge to the exit. I had to stop on the side of the interstate. I was strong enough to keep control of the vehicle by gripping the steering wheel. The safety of myself and my children were in grave danger traveling on a busy interstate. No cops were called since there was no wreck. This 2020 Lexus NX 300 was a rental from AVIS RENTAL CAR at DFW Airport. This vehicle will be returned to Avis 1/12/23
