2017 MAZDA CX-5- Ash, NC
There is a consistent issue with the “ghost touch“ and the electrical system so when you’re going down the road, the musical will change. The music will blast up or down randomly it’ll get stuck and it’s very distracting. It will hang up on people while you’re having a conversation through the car phone. This was a recall for Mazda 2014 through 2016 and they need to extend it because it was still happening with my 2017. This is my first experience with Mazda and it has not been a good one as far as this goes. I do a lot of driving and phone calls and music are very important and stuff randomly changing or getting stuck while you’re driving and then trying to fix it is very dangerous.

When I was parking in a CVS parking lot, the brakes failed and the car kept rolling and the brakes wouldn’t work. My car was rolling into traffic so I turned and accelerated to swerve from traffic. In doing that, the passenger side scrapped against a tree and I the brakes finally worked and I was able to start the car. I was shaking like a leaf and totally in shock. T hen I went online to see if there is a problem with the brake system. I’ve always been a little hesitant because the brakes squeaked from day 1. The car is leased and I hardly drive it so I needed a a possible causefor the malfunction.

2019 MAZDA CX-5- Highlands Ranch, CO
The infotainment system is experiencing the "ghost touch" problem already identified by Mazda and there has already been a class action lawsuit won regarding this problem. I was not aware of this class action lawsuit or I would have participated to have my system repaired. My infotainment system is completely unusable and I have been told it is over $500 to repair/replace. I am the original owner of this vehicle. The system continuously beeps and changes all settings while I am driving. If I am using navigation, the screen switches to something else so that I can't see where I'm supposed to be going, causing undue slowing and or braking in city traffic. This is a safety problem. My infotainment system continuously goes into the settings and changes the navigation guidance volume and the car yells at me that, "NAVIGATION WILL BE AT THIS VOLUME." This has startled me and caused me to either swerve or brake abruptly due to being yelled at with out warning while alone in the vehicle. This is a safety issue. As a female who drives by alone 99% of the time, I have my doors set to lock and unlock in a specific manner to keep me safe. The system randomly resets all of these settings while I'm driving so I have no idea if the doors will be locked or unlocked and whether I will be safe when stopping in city traffic. This is a personal safety issue and causes undue stress. The system calls and hangs up on my family repeatedly, making them think that I am in danger or hurt. They try to call by and get hung up on. This is a safety issue because it causes distracted driving because I am focused on that problem instead of the road. All in all, the whole system is a safety problem and needs attention, especially since Mazda has already admitted to the problem.

2026 MAZDA MX-5- Charlotte, NC
The contact owns a 2026 Mazda MX-5. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 - 80 MPH, the vehicle was erroneously swaying from left to right. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the road crown needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to another dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was operating as designed. The contact was concerned about a failure within the differential. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

2010 MAZDA MAZDA6- South Bend, IN
I recently had my front subframe replaced as part of your recall, however, the rear subframe and all components attached are suffering from the exact same rust and potential component failure as the front. I was replacing my brakes today and noticed that the entire structure is on the verge of complete failure. The right rear suspension already makes unusual noises when going over even small bumps and I imagine if I were to hit a large pothole that would probably be the end of this car. I imagine all similar Mazda 6s in the Midwest suffer from the exact same degradation and it is a major safety concern. There are places where there's chunks of subframe missing because it has rusted completely through and just disintegrated.

I am reporting a safety defect in my 2019 Mazda CX-5 involving the heated seats and airbag system. The vehicle was bought certified pre-owned with a warranty up to 100,000 miles included in the sale. Around March, at about 82,000 miles, the heated seats began causing electrical problems, and I was told this fault could affect the airbag system and that the airbags might not deploy in a crash. I have taken the car to a Mazda dealer four times and the issue has not been fixed; the dealer disconnected the heated seats and now claims they are “aftermarket,” even though they were on the car when I bought it and were never disclosed as aftermarket. I am now at about 87,000 miles, still within the warranty, and facing a large repair bill while Mazda corporate and the dealers refuse to correct this safety-related defect under warranty. I am asking NHTSA to record this complaint and consider investigating similar issues with Mazda heated seats and possible airbag non-deployment.

2025 MAZDA CX-70- Saline, MI
This happens often. On a trip to Florida of 1200 miles, it happened 12 times each way. After being slowed in the right lane by a car in front driving slower tan my set cruise speed, I signal and move to an empty (in front of me) left lane. Instead of accelerating to resume my set cruise speed, the car decelerates abruptly by as much as 10 mph. If a car is following me and most logically is expecting me to accelerate after moving to the left lane, that car's driver is surprised and risks rear ending me. I took the car in to service this issue. Mazda has a Service Alert (SA-007/24. The conclusion of the SA is basically it is what it is. I think that this is a serious safety issue. I have a 2016 Subaru Outback with adaptive cruise control and it never does this. Maxda's system is deficient. The NHTSB should analyze and compare adaptive cruise control systems.

2024 MAZDA CX-90- HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CA
On May 2, 2026, I took my 2024 Mazda CX-90 to Mazda of Orange because the steering wheel was getting stuck and there was a loud chirping noise when turning the car on and off. The dealership kept my car for 28 days. When I picked it up, they told me the noise was fixed. After three days, the noise returned. The next morning, the car would not start, so I had to jump it and take it back. They said it was the brake assembly line and claimed it was safe to drive when it wasn’t. They also said the bottom battery was giving errors. I had already replaced the top battery in April 2026 for $300, and they replaced the bottom one under warranty. When I brought it in, all dashboard warning lights were on, and the car warned me not to drive over 30 mph. They replaced the battery again but could not explain the warning lights. This was my sixth visit, and they kept blaming rain or fog even when the weather was clear. Two weeks after getting the car back, all warning lights came on again on [XXX]. At [XXX], while taking my husband to the airport, I was afraid to turn the car off. I hit a bump, the lights turned off, then came back on — which makes me think there is an electrical short. Now the transmission jerks hard, especially when the i-Stop activates. I bought the car in April 2025; it has 47,700 miles, and I have taken it in six times. [XXX] from the mediation department told me he would start a buyback on June 20, 2026, but he is now ignoring my calls.
