Engine head cracked and is still on car as of now. If engine overheats, engine can seize. The leak has been reproduced, but the head has not been removed for inspection yet. No warning lamps. A large puddle of coolant was noticed under the vehicle. From what I have heard is that the material is too thin and eventually cracks. There is a tsb that covers the issue, but since we've gone beyond the 5 yrs of the powertrain warranty it won't be covered. We are under the mileage limit. We lucky caught the leak before engine damage took place (as far as we know, since the teardown has not been performed. If the replacement head is "reinforcing" that area then a design flaw has been inferred and should be corrected to avoid serious injuries due to a seized motor.

The infotainment screen has spider like frost inside the screen. I've checked and other models have had this same issue and have been recalled and repaired. My model year 2018 is suffering the same issue and MAZDA has lagged on this problem. Please put out a recall on this as it is a hazard when you rely on your navigation system and other components the screen assists with.

2018 mazda started smoking from under hood and noticed a burning oil smell. Took to mechanic and was told engine head gasket has a huge Crack. Car only has 22k on it and never been in any accident. All appropriate preventative services are up to date. There was no indication light no warning light nothing to identify why the car was leaking oil and smoking until it was looked at. This has multiple.complaints in regards to this specific year and model and needs to be addresses before someone's car catches fire or stalls in the middle of highway

I had an oil change back in April of 2024. I have been driving the last couple of days and after about 15 minutes my low oil light comes. this car has 58.800 miles on it. I stopped at a oil express to see if I was low on oil but they said I was at full. I also checked to see if they saw anything leaking but they also said they didn't see anything. if the gasket is bad 58,000 that is telling me it's a faulty product. I'm afraid that my engine could lock up on the highway and cause a bad accident.

In June of 2022, Mazda issued a TSB for an engine flaw that cause coolant to leak in to the engine and significant overheating occurred. This overheating causes the head to warp. The TSB states that the only repair for this is a newer model engine. This happened to my Mazda CX9 and quite a few more. There are class action suits currently ongoing. Mazda never made its owners aware of the TSB. The car can shut down on the highway which is dangerous to all.

Risk of fire/explosion because of high concentration of combustible vapors/gasoline. Yes -- confirmed by dealer (Safford Brown Mazda of Fairfax (Virginia)). No -- Notwithstanding being apprised of the problem Manufacturer has not inspected No warning signs. Manufacturer has acknowledge gasoline leaking into engine oil. 2016 Mazda CX-9 is leaking coolant from exhaust side of engine cylinder head. This issue has been confirmed by a Mazda dealership in North Charleston, South Carolina. The issue first appeared shortly after replacing the water pump (performed by the same dealership). The issue is known and documents on Mazda TSB 01-002/23 - COOLANT LEAKS AT CYLINDER HEAD. The safety of my family was put at risk as there was no indication of a cracked head until there was coolant leaking on the driveway. Should the car have overheated without the indication of a coolant leak, the car would have been placed in to limp mode. Prior to the leak, there were no warning lamps or messages indicating the issue. Further, the Mazda dealership did not detect the issue at the time of replacing the water pump.

The rear parking assist camera has only worked intermittently since I purchased the car. There is really no pattern to when or why the camera chooses to work or not work, but It seems most affected by opening and closing the rear hatch: if it's working and i open the hatch, it stops working; if it's not working, opening/closing it will often cause it to work again. This is a problem because parking/backing up becomes a challenge when it's not working. This puts my safety at risk because it increases the chances of me having a fender bender when in reverse.

Just as the recall issued for the 2014-2016 the Mazda Connect Touch Screen continues to be an issue for most owners with this Infosystem. Mine for two years since I bought it will do the “ghost touch” on its own, literally operating on its own. My settings change on their own, doing such things as the volume on its own going from a normal tone to blasting, causing such alarm that I’ve nearly gone off the road. My back up screen brightness changes on its own, causing a real safety concern of running into something or someone. This is just two examples…all of the functions go “haywire” and just change at any unexpected time. This issue can be seen over and over online by Mazda owners. And I’ve reached out to Mazda themselves who state they are not aware of any issue, yet the dealerships are well aware of this dangerous issue and quickly know exactly what the issue is when you explain what the car is doing and let you know that for $1200 they can replace the info system. I just don’t see how they can have this issue since at least 2014 and continue to sell cars with the same issue a recall was issued for. It’s so dangerous.
