The Shifter Park Switch failed, causing the vehicle to say on when turning the vehicle off. This causes the battery to drain and created a bad cell battery. This caused the vehicle to turn off while in motion driving multiple times putting the driver and surrounding vehicles at risk. This vehicle has been inspected by the Mazda dealership/manufacturer.

The car was experiencing the Mazda Ghost Touch in which the navigation/infotainment screen randomly pushes buttons resulting in distracted driving. Mazda has authorized repairs for 2014-2016 models, but refuses to fix later models. For reference, see [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This vehicle has rear Electric Parking Brakes. Some time it's works sometimes it doesn't release the rear passenger side breaks. The rear passenger side brakes make to much noise and brakes pads destroy rotor earlier then others. Mazda dealers doesn't says to much on that and ask for above $1000 repair to change faulty EPB clipper. But my research says many people have same complaints with this model by mazda built-in around 2016. This is safety issue, if I replace brake pads every 4 or 5 months it cost me money. If I don't I cost me my safety.

    1. Received notification in February 2024 of open Takata inflator passenger airbag recall for inspection/replacement. 2. Contacted twice by online scheduler and twice by VM messages to service dept. of only listed Mazda service dealer on the Eastside of Hawaii Island in February 2024. Dealer refused to even respond. 3. Have made 5 phone contacts/contact communications on Mazda's recall website from 3/1 on. Last on 3/21. Received VM that no dealer on Big Island except for Kona Mazda service dealer and would I drive my vehicle over and back for repair. --This is at least 100 miles each way, and if the shortest route is over the Saddle Road over the top of the island. Vehicle is older vehicle with 131,000 miles. No suggestion of payment for gas/time, or having it towed at Mazda expense; just that there is no dealer. signed up in any spot but Kona. I live in Keaau, HI. 4. Upon receiving recall notice in February I turned off the passenger airbag and have allowed neither my wife or friend to ride with me. 5. I have given info. over the phone and in contact me communications that Mazda could set up a contract for inspection/repair of passenger airbag inflator with Big Island Motors, Hilo, HI. 6. No follow-up by Mazda Recall group or communications back to me except 3/6 VM from Mazda Recall asking me if I would drive to Kona Mazda dealer. (In subsequent communications I pointed out the facts of distance to Kona Mazda dealer. I also requested communications back to me and updates. None, except 3/6 VM from Mazda Recall Center Rep. were done.) I have been patient regarding this, but I view this Takata inflator issue as a serious matter. that could harm passenger or since apparently it was installed incorrectly me as the driver. If Mazda cannot do what the recall notice states, then maybe they should arrange. and pay for a tow to the Kona Mazda dealer and provide me a rental vehicle paid for by Mazda during the repair period.

The fuel gauge is non linear and erroneous. It is a safety issue because the level of fuel left is unpredictable and I have run out of gas in unfamiliar areas because of this.

Head cracked at just under 49,000. Oil dripping on exhaust entering cabin continuously. This issue was identified by Mazda to dealers in 2021 via Mazda TSB SA-031/21. Despite having our vehicle serviced multiple times at the Puyallup Mazda dealership after that date, no mention was made of this noted defect. We drove for about a month inhaling the petroleum fumes often thinking it was from trucks ahead of us on road. Dealership replaced the head assembly but since car was 4 months out of warranty (we are the original owners having purchased it new from this dealership) the dealership insisted on charging us for repairs. We've been breathing fumes from a known issue and others may be as well due to faulty manufacturing the manufacturer and dealer refuse to take full responsibility for.what is clearly a defect.

The contact owns a 2016 Mazda Mazda CX5. The contact stated that on two separate occasions, the vehicle unintentionally accelerated without warning in an attempt to park the vehicle. On the first occasion, the vehicle drove in between two trees with the contact's foot on the brake pedal before the vehicle came to a stop. The air bags did not deploy upon impact and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed to an independent body shop where the vehicle was repaired for minor damage. The contact was also informed that no computer codes indicated any signs of a mechanical failure. On the second occasion, the vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle while again attempting to park the vehicle in a parking lot. The force of the collision caused the already hit vehicle to crash into yet another parked vehicle. The air bags did not deploy upon impact and no injuries were reported. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed back to the same independent mechanic where the code reader indicated that the vehicle had a low battery; however, the battery did not need to be replaced. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle remained in the possession of the independent mechanic and had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000

I’m getting water in my trunk. Dealership replaced left tail light and both lights on the right. The left is dry and the right is soaked again. At least a gallon of water sitting where spare tire is. I’m seeing many other Mazda owners are having the same issue online. This should be a recall. If the water issue doesn’t get fixed it will lead to rusting and mold. My spare tire already is showing rusting.

In September of 2023, while driving I attempted to use the windshield wipers, and they would not function. We live in a rainy part of the country, so having non working wipers is a major safety issue. Research for possible causes pointed to the body control module which had been recalled on Mazda 3s in recent years. I took the car to the dealership, and they traced the problem to an internal failure of the body control module. I do not have the component to inspect, and I do not know what the dealership did with it after removal. We filed a complaint with Mazda in October of 2023. They gave us case #001-463-33. They were not receptive to feedback, and simply stated many times that there was not a current recall for our vehicle. There were no warning signs/messages/ lights before the wipers stopped working, and they had worked normally the day before.
