CX90 PHEV Premium Plus new purchase 12/2023. 1/24/2024: "Hybrid System Malfunction, Have the vehicle Inspected " On a busy freeway with big rigs and other cars during rush hour traffic (5:25pm), going about 70 MPH. Only 1700miles on car so far. 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit outside. 2mi left on charge, full tank of gas. Car completely unable to accelerate all of the sudden on busy highway once this light came on. Was able to pull off to shoulder, albeit challenging as unable to accelerate and navigate through fast cars in right 2 lanes. Was able to restart car, and go at limp speed but unable to get fast enough to merge back. Called tow truck. Car towed to Mazda dealership. Then unable to get off flatbed of the tow truck as would not go into reverse. Tow guy called me and the staff at Mazda called their Service Manager, had to reset that code. (Something glitch kicked in and locked the car from being able to shift gears). Mazda Service was responsive, worked on and got diagnostics the next day. Stated that it was a computer system glitch. So they restarted the whole system. light is gone and car drives during their testing. They can't explain it. So computer and electronic glitch and system misread leads to a MECHANICAL malfunction that stops the car to be able to be accelerated on freeway. I am a mom of 3 young kids, and lucky I am alive.

Known issue in these CX-9’s. Had the issue fixed once with a brand new, Mazda, “redesigned engine.” 14 months and 30000 miles later it’s happening again. Leaking coolant due to cracked cylinder head. First repair was about 9 grand. This time my repair estimate since it’s premature was for another 6000 to replace the cylinder head versus the whole engine. That’s 15k on a used car when I could’ve almost paid it off with that amount at this point.

I have raised case [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] ] with Mazda regarding my 2024 CX90 where there's a suspension and emergency automatic forward Collison breaking since I purchased the car and now this steering issue safety recall. They are not replacing or buying back. I'm feeling unsafe and fear to drive as if this malfunction car leads to accident. Please assist. On several occasions, most of which happened while in motion, my vehicle has stalled out of the blue with no warning. It seems to mostly happen when I’m slowing down or when I’m making a right hand turn and try to accelerate, suddenly there’s no power to the engine. I have to put the vehicle into park and restart it. Twice while slowing down for a red light. Twice immediately after making a right handed turn, and once, when entering roundabout, after yielding. This is happened at least five times. The most recent incident occurring in August 2023.

the front crossmember rusted out and broke while driving down the road (per owner), all bolts needed replaced along with the rear engine torque strut mount. Confirmed and replaced by an independent shop 01/20/2024. upon inspection the rear crossmember, lower control arms, bolts, and other parts are all rusted and ready to break at anytime. front crossmember is at the shop for inspection. Car can easily be at shop on a lift for inspection. No warnings.

While I was driving I heard an extremely loud noise (like fireworks). I slightly opened the sun roof cover and saw shards of glass. I pulled over to inspect further and realized that my sun roof glass had exploded! I saw no signs of anything (particularly rocks) that may have caused it. I called the dealer, and they had me bring it in. They have ordered a new sunroof, and gave me a loaner car. Luckily I did not have the inside cover open, or the glass would have shattered all over the inside of my car.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? "Hybrid System Malfunction. Stop Vehicle in a Safe Location." Car completely inoperable. Had to tow to dealership as would not start or go out of park. Hybrid and High Voltage battery issues reported by multiple owners. This happened less than a month into owning the vehicle and with less than 1200 miles. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Car deceleration on highway specific to this error reported by multiple owners. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Uknown. Currently being serviced by dealer. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Currently being inspected by the Mazda dealership I leased the vehicle through. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? "Yes, just a week into having the vehicle (at 300 miles) a "Hybrid System Malfunction" error message appeared to "Have the Vehicle Inspected." Dealership had it in their Service shop for over 2.5 weeks and said nothing was wrong with it.

The contact owns a 2014 Mazda Mazda3. The contact stated while reversing, the rearview camera was inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where an unknown hypothetical diagnostic was made. The contact declined to pay the repair cost. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V487000 (Back Over Prevention); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The car has an "Engine Malfunction" emergency light that goes on. I brought the car into the dealer right away - the car had $1k miles and is brand new, so it's quite scary to get this message. They cleared the error and told me not to worry about it, but were unable to provide a solution. It recurred immediately (within 1-2 days). I reached out to the service department and they told me to ignore it (that there is no fix in progress). My car is unable to change the Mi Drive mode (so it can only stay in Hybrid mode). This is unsafe and goes against the intended use of the car. For example, on a very cold day like today, I wish to warm the car in sport mode (aka not hybrid or electric) and I was unable to change the mode.

My engine started smoking while I was driving fast got out of car oil leaking everywhere there was a crack in the cylinder head, another few minutes of driving and the car could have burst into flames seems like it’s a common issue with Mazda cx5 a quick google search has shown me I’m not the only one with this issue, worst thing about it is Mazda refused to fix it.
