2012 MAZDA MAZDA3- Cotati, CA
Using my headlamps at night when I break my headlamps begin to flash, as to dim and brighten I took it into the dealership because it was a recall that my Vin number was not part of. They refused to take care of it without a fee. I reported it to Mazda of North America but because the cars older it falls outside of what they would normally do to take care of it. In short, The braking system causes the headlamps to brighten and dim down. I use country Roads, this could become a hazard. Im concerned it could completely go out at some point and leave me in the dark and create an accident

2021 MAZDA CX-5- Andover, MA
On 17-MAY-2021 after sitting unused for 1 day my Mazda CX-5, mfg year 2021 with about 1,500 miles did not start. All electrical systems failed, there was no indication of any power present. The vehicle is presently at the dealership it was purchased at about 90 days ago, 495 Mazda in Lowell MA and is available for inspection. The sudden loss of all electrical systems has the potential for stranding the driver and passengers in dangerous locations. The problem has not yet been reproduced. The vehicle has been inspected by the service department of 495 Mazda in Lowell MA who advised they had charged the battery and tested it as ok and offered to return the vehicle to me. There were no warning lights or other indication of this problem. This morning when I called for service, the dealer, 495 Mazda informed me they do not pick up failed automobiles and I should either call Mazda roadside assistance or jump start the car and bring it in. I measured the battery voltage at 2.5 volts and charged it with a high quality battery charger. The car then started. After shutting off the car there was a faint buzzing sound from the engine compartment. I advised the dealer service department of all these details. I would also note that after the car started I measured the battery voltage at over 14 volts proving the charging system works, after shutting off the engine the voltage dropped to 12.1 volts.

Turn the car off--but it does not turn off. I put my foot on the brake and turning it off does not work. I have to shake and move the gear shifter aggressively for it to turn off and moving the car and reversing to get the car to turn off.

2017 MAZDA MAZDA6- Milton, MA
My Mazda 6 control screen, that displays and is used to control entertainment, car settings (lights, brakes, warnings, etc.), GPS, and various safety and control applications failed and was unusable. My car, like so many reported on social media, was just out of warranty. I was forced to pay $1,254 to replace this CMU at my dealership. This defective unit, and it's associated computer, is a known failure by Mazda. In fact, it is so known that a recall and an extended warranty period for subject owners was made for the Mazda 3 line of cars. This defect is also very, very well known and reported by many Mazda 6 owners with no coverage against the defect by Mazda and no recall or extended warranty period. Mazda 3 owners were treated fairly; Mazda 6 owners that suffer from the same defective units are not. It is a very, very expensive and very, very common defect acknowleged by Mazda Corporation that we should not have to pay to repair.

AFTER FIXING THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE CAR NOT FULLY TURNING OFF, THE CAR SUDDENLY DIED IN TRAFFIC AND WOULDN'T RESTART. REPLACING MASS AIR SENSOR, O2 SENSOR, AND PLUGS, THE CAR WILL DIE IN TRAFFIC WHEN COMING TO A STOP, BUT RESTARTS IMMEDIATELY. THE CODE SAYS THIS IS A PCM PROBLEM. INTERNET RESEARCH SAYS THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON RESULTING IN SAFETY RECALLS IN OTHER YEAR MODELS. 2013 SHOULD ALSO BE RECALLED.

2018 MAZDA CX-5- FREMONT, CA
SITUATION: DRIVING UPHILL ON HWY 120 ON NEW PRIEST ROAD, BIG OAK FLAT, CA, TWO LANE MOUNTAIN ROAD. SLOW CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND A DELIVERY TRUCK TAILGATING. SLOW CAR EVENTUALLY MOVES ASIDE IN A TURNOUT AND I ACCELERATE TO OPEN UP SPACE BETWEEN MYSELF AND WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE THE TRUCK BUT SOMEHOW THE SLOW CAR RETURNED TO THE DRIVING LANE AHEAD OF THE TRUCK. I CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE TO ATTEMPT TO OPEN UP SPACE BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE CAR BEHIND ME WHEN I LOST POWER, THE CAR BEHIND ME MOVES TO THE OPPOSING TRAFFIC LANE TO AVOID REAR ENDING MY CAR THAT IS RUNNING IN DEGRADED MODE (ACCELERATOR HAS NO EFFECT, BASICALLY MOVING ON IDLE POWER) AND NARROWLY MISSES AN ONCOMING CAR AS I MOVE TOWARDS THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE RIGHT LANE. TRUCK BEHIND ME HAS TO BRAKE HARD TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER TO PULL OVER TO AT THAT LOCATION IMMEDIATE LOCATION. I PULL OVER A FEW HUNDRED YARDS FURTHER AT A SAFE LOCATION. GRADE WAS PERHAPS 4% TO 6%. WEATHER: HOT 90 DEGREES SPEED: ACCELERATING FROM 35 TO 50 MPH (GUESS) DIAGNOSTIC LIGHTS: SMART CITY BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE WARNING, PLUS A LOT OF OTHER WARNING LIGHTS LIT INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AFTERMATH: I PULLED SAFELY OVER, STOPPED THE ENGINE, WAITED A WHILE AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE CAR RETURNED TO IT'S NORMAL DRIVING BEHAVIOR AND COMPLETED MY TRIP. OTHER INFORMATION: THIS IS THE 3RD OCCURRENCE OF THIS BEHAVIOR. EACH TIME I HAVE HAD MAZDA LOOK AT THE PROBLEM. 1ST OCCURRENCE THEY REPLACED THE CYLINDER COIL, 2ND OCCURRENCE THEY REPLACED A SPARK PLUG FOR MISFIRE. 3RD OCCURRENCE, TO BE DETERMINED.
